EPISODE 3: THREE DAYS TRIAL

A tragic romance that would begin with a girl who doesn't know anything about love meets a guy who doesn't care about love.

Travis' number of ex-girlfriends is much more than a playboy's. His relationship would sometimes last for two months, two weeks, or two days. It's all because he doesn't care about love. For him, as long as he can lean on someone, count on someone, open up on someone, share feelings with someone, he is good. But, for some reason, his romantic life can't last for a year. And it's all because he thinks he isn't with the right person- because he is chasing for someone...for a very long time.

Adelaine once had a boyfriend. It did work, but for some reason, she doesn't know what had gone wrong. She was a love expert. A perfect girlfriend. After sharing romantic feelings and experiences with her boyfriend, everything had gone wrong for a reason that no one knows. Even her. She then promised herself that she will never be in a relationship again as she had enough.

But what made her ask a random question to Travis?

"Be my boyfriend, then."

"B-boyfriend?! Why me?!" his ears turned red as he sweats a lot. With his pink rosy cheeks, his nose started sweating.

Adelaine gave him a cold smile. Holding her IV drip, she stood up out from bed and walked to him. As she came closer, Travis' face can't be drawn. He could see her in a hospital gown and he was worried a lot. He could see her walking towards him and his heart beats fast. He could see her smiling in such a condition and he feels bad for that. He didn't know what to feel, how to react, and what expression his face should wear.

Adelaine stood in front of him, looking straight into his brown eyes. With a beautiful smile on her face, "You look like a guy who knows a lot about love...?"

It wasn't the first time that they faced each other too close, but it was the first time that her beauty had silent Travis.

With Adelaine standing right in front of her, he can see such a beautiful view. He could see her black eyes with her long eyelashes. Her perfect eyebrows and sharp nose. With her pinky cheeks and heart-shaped lips, Travis' heart beats faster.

"I...I do know about love, but I- I don't care about it," he said with a nervous tone. Wiping his short sideburns with his two fingers, he kept looking down as he can't look at her in the eyes.

Seeing him like that made her laughed. She clapped her hand while laughing. She thought he was too big for a shy guy. Travis on the other hand was uncomfortable. No one has ever laughed at him and saw his hidden side.

"That's why I hate jokes," he said with a calm voice.

"Did I say it was a joke?" she responded while holding her belly, laughing out loud.

After a minute, she stopped laughing, went back, and sat on her bedside. She suddenly had a serious face. Looking at him, she was silent. She was like observing him. She looked at him from head to toe.

"The first time we met. I was really amazed by your looks. I was...drawn by your looks. I even thought of you like a prince." she started talking like she was telling a story.

He leans against the wall and listened to her looking like he was really interested.

"But you started doing things that made me think of you as a bad guy. I even asked my friend, Cassidy to run a background check on you," she added.

He suddenly stood straight with his wide eyes. "What? A background check?!" he shouted out of shock.

"Mm-hmm. I asked her last night. She sent me the details before I was hospitalized. After seeing the message, I tried to catch up with you to ask something. After that, I was hospitalized."

"Why would you--" she cut her off while talking when she suddenly remembered one thing.

"You! What's with the nickname earlier?" she asked. His eyes widened after hearing her question. He panicked for a while, trying to think of an answer.

He suddenly grabbed his phone from his pocket- pretending that he received a call.

"I got a call, excuse me for a while."

"You don't have any friends, though," she mentioned as he was about to leave the room. He was frozen and silent. Having mixed emotions, he looked back at her. He became more confused after seeing Adelaine's face. She was smirking while combing her hair with her fingers.

"Of course, I knew about it because of Cassidy."

"You have so many ex-girlfriends, don't you?" she asked pouting her lips.

He couldn't stand her actions. Her weird questions. Strange expressions. With his hands trembling a little, he walked out of the room. Adelaine was left behind, still wearing her weird face. She was still smirking as she combs her hair.

As soon as Travis walked out, he called someone. Luckily, the person he was calling immediately answered him.

"Why did you do that?" he asked desperately.

Listening to the person on the line, his eyebrows were pulled together and his lips tightened.

After listening to the person he was calling,

"I...I didn't know that she was calling me! I didn't even know that she was running after me! Did you really think that I wanted to see her suffering, having a hard time?!" his anger worsened, and answered with a high-pitch voice.

The person on the line asked him a question that had calmed him down.

Honestly speaking, he did know about Adelaine's asthma.

"I honestly forgot that she has asthma. I was too distracted and forgot all the important details about her.

"Did you tell everything to her?" he asked the person on the line with a trembling voice.

The person on the line said something to him that made him hang up the phone. After the call, not even thinking of Adelaine, he was out of his mind and runoff.

Adelaine waited for him but she was about to be discharged within an hour.

She waited for Travis.

Until the doctor came and discharged her, he still hasn't come back.

She didn't receive any messages or calls from him for the past three days. She thought she wasn't bothered about it and doesn't care about him. But she found herself checking her phone from time to time. She realized she wasn't participating well in school since Monday. And knew she knew that it's all because of him.

It was Thursday, Adelaine was eating her lunch alone. With no appetite, she forced herself to finish her food.

Suddenly, Cassidy sat in front of her, holding her food tray.

"Finish your food or I'll finish your life."

Without any energy, she raised her head to check who was sitting in front of her. After seeing Cassidy, she crouched her head down again. Not even caring, her hair was already on her food.

Cassidy sighed heavily and one by one, she transferred all her foods to Adelaine's plate. She looked at Cassidy with her eyebrow raised.

"You should eat, Adi."

"What? How did you..."

"Well, from Travis, probably."

Adelaine was all ears as she was curious about what Cassidy said. With a blank face, she asked her.

"Since when did you talked to him?"

"Last Sunday. I was on my way back to the hospital after buying some food for you when I saw him running out from the hospital. Actually, I tried to greet him like, Hey! Travis! How you doin'? but he suddenly held my shoulders so tight. He's like a mad dog!"

"What did he say?" Adelaine asked her.

"Hey, promise me to look after Adi," Cassidy said- trying to imitate Travis' deep voice.

The two were silent after. As Cassidy was enjoying her meal, Adelaine was on her phone again.

"Hey! That's my phone, right?" Cassidy's eyes widen when she saw her phone with Adelaine. She suddenly grabbed her phone.

As Cassidy was confused about it, Adelaine seemed like she already expected Cassidy's reaction.

"I intentionally showed that to you just now," Adelaine said.

"I borrowed your phone when we worked on the code but I didn't do anything with it. You left without even asking me for your phone." She explained.

Cassidy was just looking at her with her blank eyes, yet she seemed worried about Adelaine having her phone for almost a week.

As the situation gets awkward, Adelaine felt uncomfortable with Cassidy's face and the way she stares at her. She grabbed her food tray together with her bag and left Cassidy alone.

Walking with her small steps, she was thinking hard about Cassidy. Focusing too much on her friend, she didn't notice the guy walking towards her.

She was in her right mind after bumping into the guy. With stains of food on her clothes, she immediately wiped her clothes with her hanky. Not even caring, she didn't look who the guy was.

Until the guy picked her food tray up and lend it to her, she raised her head with her mad face.

"Sorry, I didn't saw you. You were too little." the guy said with a cold smile.

As she finally identified who the guy is, her draw dropped. Her eyebrows were pulled together as her eyes widen.

"T-Travis?!" she shouted out of shock.

Travis smiled at her and removed the food stain from her hair with his hanky.

"W-why are you--"

"I study here. This is my school. Good to see you here, Miss Reyes." he said as he continuously wipes the stain off from her.

"Good to see who? You ghosted me! For- for like weeks!"

"It was just for four days. Why are you so--"

With her anger, she pushed him away from her. He rubbed his chest after he was pushed and looked at her with his confused eyes.

"Why did you run off that time? You knew that I was inside the room waiting for you! We didn't even finish our conversation! You didn't even call me or-- or messaged me or what!" her anger worsened and shouted at him.

He gave her a smirk with his glancing eyes. "Oh, the conversation. Where did we stop?" he asked out of the blue.

She was silent, trying to think of their talk at the hospital. As she gradually remembers their conversation, her eyes widen right until she remembered what she suggested.

Travis was just looking at her expressions and suddenly, he scoffed and scratched his chin.

"I'll be your boyfriend as you suggested."

"What? I didn't mean that!"

He suddenly burst into laughter. Honestly speaking, hearing those words from her had his hopes up. He thought she means it, but she didn't.

"Three days trial." He said with his deep voice.

"What?"

"Let's give it a try."

"Try what?!" she continued asking him questions as she was confused.

"Let me be your trial boyfriend for three days. If I pass your standards for men within that three days, then I'll start chasing you. For the rest of my life."
