Departure

Underestimating me like last time will be the reason for his defeat.

Without wasting any more time, he lunged, showing off his confidence.

As Gary punched with his shield, my legs bent down against the pressure. A mist of dust enveloped us, obscuring our silhouette from spectators. Inhaling those dust particles wasn't pleasant.

"How is this possible?" Gary let out, astonished to see an unexpected outcome.

If it was three years ago, I would have already been laying on the ground, unconscious.

However, that amount of time shouldn't be enough to catch up to someone who has spent more than a decade working out.

The only explanation to explain my current physical prowess was that other than altering my blood type, my superpower has changed something else.

Ridiculing him, I said, "How does it feel to have a kid blocking your attack?"

There is no way I would miss an opportunity to take my revenge on someone who has insulted me, except when it's Tatsumaki tickling me with her naughty laugh...

"Don't get too cocky brat!" Gary shouted, raising his shield high once again. "Let's see what happens if I use everything I have!"

His voice is already beginning to get annoying to my ears. Let's finish this already.

Instead of taking the hit head-on, I unsheathed my claws and chop his weapon just before it landed on me.

What occurred next was unbelievable.

The only thing we could hear in the area was the sound of him, sobbing.

"Waa! Boo Hoo!"

Gary, a man who used to exude arrogance, was kneeling on the ground, his eyes moistened and his hands quivered while holding a piece of his shield.

"How dare you break something my mommy gifted me for my birthday?!" he said, wiping his nose. "I will kill you!"

Slowly, he raised from the ground, walking under the silence toward the crowd, and grabbed a double-sided ax.

The cutting edge is even larger than my body. I am a dead man if he hits me with that thing...

"You can't be serious!" Derald shouted, barring his path. "Just calm yourself! I will compensate you with another—"

Without letting the man finish, Gary sent him eating dirt with a wave of his hand. "No one can stop me from killing this brat!"

A deep line followed him as he dragged his ax across the dirt and with each passing second, its distance became closer and closer.

While readying myself to fight to the death, a green hair appeared in my field of vision, standing in front of me.

"What are you doing? This is too dangerous!" I tried to gently push Tatsumaki to the side, but her slim body would not budge.

Turning her head, she said, "I am just protecting what is mine."

Upon hearing this, my hands that were trying to move her away ceased their movements. How am I supposed to convince this stubborn girlfriend of mine...?

"Don't stand there watching like that!" Dikke glared at the people beside him and pointed his finger toward Gary. "You must stop him from killing our experiment subjects!"

Regaining their senses, some of them leaped beside us while others barred my assailant's path.

"Think it over. Do you want to fight all of us?"

"Hmpf!" Even after seeing many guards in front of him, Gary continued walking as he said, "A bunch of weaklings like you cannot stop me, the strongest person here."

"Sho, take them back to their cell!" Dikke commanded Sho with an anxious voice.

"Yes, sir."

"Don't think I will let you run away so easily!" Gary tried to reach our position but the other guards blocked him and thus started a battle.

Grabbing our hands, Sho took us in a hurry toward the entrance of the building, out the everyone's sight, but instead of pushing the door open, he stood still, looking around as if to make sure nobody was there.

"Guys." In a low voice, Sho whispered, "Let's take this opportunity to escape together."

Together? But as a scientist, nothing bad can happen to him so why would he also want to leave this place with us?

Like me, Tatsumaki was also in deep thought, trying to figure out the answers.

Knowing our thoughts, he said, "I know you two must have tons of questions, but now is not the moment. I will explain everything once we are out of here."

That's right...

This is the perfect chance for escaping as Gary is distracting everyone's attention. Furthermore, Dikke didn't leave anyone with us, probably to have as many people as possible to stop Gary.

Seeing that Tatsumaki agreed with me, we nodded our heads.

To avoid making any sound, she levitated our body, and under the wild noise of people screaming and metal clashing each other, we starting departing from the place I had stayed for three years.
