'I'm fucked'

James thought, he was currently surrounded by armed people.

"Don't move monster, just stand there and be exterminated"

"Are you stupid?! Who the fuck would stand and let you kill them?!"

James couldn't help but shout out, he was very stressed and this guy just wants him to let them kill him.

"It can talk?!"

"Of course I can talk?! I'm human!!"

The people around him looked like they were questioning their existence.

A random guy: 'Who am I? Where am I? What am I?'

Another random guy: 'Return to monke'

Suddenly an annoying looking guy walked out from among the soldiers.

"My name is Dong Gou, from the Dong family, and I will exterminate this monster today."

When he was above to run to James another guy came out from the people, he was old and was very big, like 2 meters big and full of muscles.

"What do you think you're doing Dong Gou?!"

Shouted the man.

"Stay out of it!! I'm the young master of the Dong family!! If you get in my way I will kill you!!"

And of course the man backed away in fear… Not, he punch Dong Gou on the head making his head hit the ground in extreme speed and break the ground.

"My name is Xiao Gang from the Xiao family, I apologize for what happened so far, however, can you explain what happened, and how your body came back together?"

James felt that this guy was sincere but also that if he lied he will most likely meet his end.

"Well, I was just walking away from the tournament registration area when I was hit by a carriage, as for why my body came back together, it is from my bloodline, my family has a supernatural ability to turn into elements, my body is the same, when I was hit my body turned into mud and scattered around and I just gathered my body together"

It was risky and he knew it, but he had to explain and making up a family with a mysterious ability to turn into elements is a lot better than saying that he has some mystical technique since that might make people greedy and try to steal it from him, while a bloodline is harder to steal, still risky, but he has to tell either way, and this way at least he also has some background, although fake, unless they can read minds or tell if he is lying or not, they will never know.

Gang looked James in the eyes trying to see any lies.

Thankfully for James, his will power became stronger with unlocking one of the conditions for conqueror's haki, so something like that is nothing to him now.

"Someone, pick up Dong Gou and let's go"

Gang said before turning his back to James and walking away.

'I really thought I was gonna die'

That look in Gang's eyes told James that if he moved even one muscle suspiciously he will die.

'Okay, while waiting for the tournament I really need to train my devil fruit, I thought it might be okay to explore a bit since I have a logia body, but this guy, I can feel it, he has a way to kill me'

That was a wake up call to James, he thought he was invincible since he had a logia with no weaknesses, but he was wrong, although this world doesn't have haki, people can still hurt him.

James walked to a bench near the tournament venue and sat on it.

'The Swamp Swamp fruit, what do I know about it? I know that it can store both non and living things without damaging or hurting them. I know I can extend my body to a large area, at least large enough to capture the mermaid princess, I will need to test how big later. Like all logia I can turn my body into swamp and move while in that form. From what I remember he was able to hold down the mermaid princess, so it could work great for capturing or slowing down enemies. And last thing I need to find out is how solid I can make my swamp, can I make it solid enough to use as a weapon or only enough to be like glue. I also need to be careful of being captured in a closed space like what happened to that guy in the anime, being stuck in a barrel.'

After going all those points, James knew that the only way to know more is to test with the power, but he can't do it at the moment since the tournament is going to start in around 10 minutes.

James got up from the bench and started walking to the waiting area.

'Well, I guess it will unlock when it unlocks, for now I need to win this thing and get the money'

And so James walked to the waiting room pumped up and ready to go.

The moment he walked into the waiting room everyone started laughing at him and mocking him.

And so, James took his seat and waited among the mocking laughs of young masters.
