Chapter 3: New Order

The Sun had gradually begun to set, with John returning home and having dinner with both Ann and Star. 

The trio sat in a comfortable silence, other than the occasional question asked by John about their day.

'I wonder what Dad even does when he leaves the house? I've never really seen what he really does, or even what kind of job he has.' Star thought to herself.

The realization made her curiosity get the better of her, prompting her next question.

"Dad. Can I go with you into town tomorrow?"

John seemed stunned at the response.

"Oh. What made you ask that dear? You usually never shown any interest in your father's job." Ann said, also surprised at Star's question.

"I don't know." Star said with an innocent and childlike expression on her face, one that emphasized her cuteness.

"Absolutely. I'd love to take you with me Star!" John with excitement, the bewitchment of her expression still fully working.

The trio ended their family dinner, after which they put Star in her bed while they went in their room to rest for the night.

After Star ensured that they were asleep, she sat in the middle of her room as she prepared to activate her fruit.

'So, if the information in all those fan websites and fanfictions were right, Devil Fruits mainly depend on the user's interpretation of them and how far their imagination goes with them. A Devil Fruit like the Jacket-Jacket Fruit could be used to unzip pockets of space and give teleportation, or the Chop-Chop Fruit being able to chop objects similar to Gildarts. It all depends on the user's interpretation of the Fruit. And if I go by the interpretation that I'm thinking of...' Star thought as she prepared herself.

She lifted a book into her hand and spoke.

"⭐This book is as light as a feather⭐"

Suddenly, the book Star was holding no longer had any weight to it, with her casually throwing it into the air as it floated back down.

'So using it like Star and Stripe does will work! I wonder what the limit is on how many I can have active right now?'

"⭐This book is as light as a feather for me⭐"

After adjusting her rule, the book fell at a speed similar to if it had weight, yet it was still just as light to her.

'I'm guessing that since I was specific in the rule this time, the book still maintained its mass yet was still light to me.' Star hypothesized.

"⭐This book is as large as my dresser⭐" 

The book suddenly jumped to massive proportions, though its weight didn't change for star as she still casually held it in her hand.

She then threw it into the air, only barely catching it before it hit the ground.

'If the speed at which it fell was anything to go by, the mass of the object increased with its size. The combination of these two rules lets me completely play with gravity. I wonder what other powerful combinations could be possible? It also seems like two Orders is my limit, though I wonder if that could change if I develop my fruit further.' Star thought as she gently placed the book on the ground.

However, she was suddenly struck with immense weakness, as she fell to the ground, while the book reverted to its normal size.

She was barely able to crawl into her bed before she collapsed down, extremely tired.

'I guess the stamina drain must have been too much for my toddler body. It was probably good that it could hold out for that long. Looks like I'll need to practice... uh...' Star's thoughts were cut short as she fell into the grasp of the night.

Star awoke the next morning, feeling as if she had been giving the best sleep since her rebirth into this world.

She quickly went to get dressed, and put on her clothes, ready to go explore her island with her father.

As she came downstairs, she saw her mother placing the breakfast on the table while her father was reading the newspaper.

The trio then enjoyed their meal together, while her mother claimed to have mumblings when she went to use the bathroom last night.

Star just sweated as she assured them she was sound asleep, making her mother feel as if she was still half asleep when it happened and to not think too deeply about it.

"You ready to go, Star?" John asked as he saw his daughter had finished her meal.

"Yes!!" Star said with excitement.

"Alright then, let's head out!" John said as he put Star on his back while Ann wished for them to be safe.

The two then left out the door, as Star would finally see a world greater than her own home.
