Chapter 248: Diamante's fate
As Vivi had initially thought, Bartolomeo decided to stay at one side of the arena and pitch a barrier around him. His plan was clearly to wait until only one competitor remained and then push that person out of the platform using his ability.
Both Diamante and Burgess got their eyes on her. Most likely for different reasons.
Burgess wanted to test his strength against a potential recruit, selected by his Captain.
She did not know why Diamante was focusing on her, but she didn't like the way he stared at her.
"Let's play!" Burgess was preparing to attack her when Sabo got in his way.
"Why don't you play with me first, big boy?"
Sabo's intervention has left her alone with that man.
"Uhehehe, not bad at all." Diamante scanned her up and down.
"I was expecting a different female gladiator to make it here…but you are an even better price, more my type."
"Your type? aren't we supposed to be…you know, killing each other?" Vivi asked.
He smiled.
"We could do that…or you could join our family. With your talents, I'm sure Doffy will not complain. You could work under me if you know what I mean." he licked his lips.
"Wow, you are making this very easy for me." Vivi felt a bit conflicted about killing all the members of the Doflamingl family. After all, the only one who had done something to her or her crew so far was Doflamingo himself.
But the few members she had encountered up to this point had proven themselves more than deserving of what was coming for them.
She could appreciate that.
"Well, I can make things hard too, uahaha!"
Diamante continued his 'flirting' talk. Completely oblivious of what she was thinking at this moment.
So he was completely off guard when she moved to his side and punched his ribs hard enough to break most of them before he could react and use his ability to escape.
"That was a low blow!" Diamante grunted.
"Yeah, I bet you were expecting a different kind of 'blow' " Vivi gave him a provocative wink.
The audience started to boo at her.
It was to be expected, they would go against anyone who attacks their beloved hero.
"You are dead!" Diamante took out his sword and this one started to ripple like it was made of some soft material.
The thin blade moved like a whip and Diamante was able to control it's movements with tremendous precision and speed.
'This little trick alone would have been enough to eliminate most of today's fighters.'
Vivi drew that conclusion after avoiding Diamante's attacks for a minute. Even with her ridiculous speed, she had to push herself hard to avoid being cut by the blade.
Realizing that she was too nimble and quick for his current approach, Diamante decided to change tactics. He recalled the sword and wrapped the metal around his right fist, like a cloth.
Loud noises started to come from outside the coliseum.
Vivi could feel a lot of movement outside, very likely a big battle was taking place.
'There are some familiar auras out there…including Doflamingo himself and Luffy, who must have left the coliseum at some point. Something is going on, I need to finish this quicker in case they need my help.'
"You don't have time to be distracted, you bitch!"
When she looked ahead, Diamante was right in front of her, ready to smash her head with his metal-coated fist.
Vivi had the idea to drag this fight until Sabo was done with his oponent. She also wanted to see what else Diamante could do.
'That's unfortunate…'
"Playtime is over." Vivi felt Diamante's fist go through her skull and come out on the other side.
Everyone watching was expecting a spectacle of gore to follow next. Her blood splattered all over the arena, mixed with pieces of her skull and brain matter.
But after a moment of deliberation, their minds were able to adjust and comprehend what they were seeing.
Vivi's head had deformed, allowing the metal fist to pass through without offering any resistance like she was made of some non-solid material.
Diamante was startled by the unexpected outcome and took a few steps backward.
"What is this?!" he shouted in a demanding tone.
Vivi said nothing, instead, she reformed her head and face. This time, revealing her true appearance. There was no more need for disguises, the war had started.
The ones in the audience that recognized had their eyes open like plates.
"You!, It's you!" Diamante pointed at her. His eyes filled with rage.
"You kille-"
Vivi used her fastest movement technique to appear in front of him. She moved her right hand forward with her fingers extended.
Diamante reacted quickly to the attack and covered his vital organs with his arms, unsure of what type of attack was she going to use.
Two masses of water came from her body and moved to her oponent sides.
When her fingers were about to make contact with Diamante's arms, these transformed into ice and changed to become sharp and pointy.
Diamante grunted in pain when the ice spike pierced his skin and buried it in his arm but the injury was not very serious.
At least that's what he thought.
The two masses of water that had moved to his sides had now transformed into two clones of Vivi.
One of the clones aimed her two arms at his side like they were guns. The clone's arms then exploded in a shower of ice pellets that left hundreds of holes in Diamante's body.
Meanwhile, the other clone had turned one of her arms into an ice blade and sent it to his neck.
Diamante a reflexes were fast enough to turn his neck into an elastic fabric that could avoid the fatal strike.
As this was happening, the real Vivi assault was not over.
Her ice spike was slowed down by his arm but it did not stop at all, it continued its patch until it came out from the other side and then pierced his chest.
After this, the single spike of ice changed its shape, turning into hundreds of very thin but long needles that punctured everything in its path. Destroying all of his internal organs.
The whole attack took place in less than two seconds. Giving neither the audience nor the commentator, time to digest what was happening.
What they did see, was the bodied figure of their beloved hero falling on the floor of the arena.
