Humble Beginnings

In a small village in the East Blue, there was a 6-year-old boy who was lying on the grass and watching the clouds. He had a tired expression on his face. This is Alexander D. Great the boy with the dream to be free.

"I want to be like those clouds up there. They're just drifting away and so free." said the bored boy with his arm reaching out to the sky.

"OYYYYY ALEX!!!" someone called out to the boy.

"What is it again pops?" said Alex as he looks towards his father who is carrying a pile of papers.

You see his father, Vincent, has been looking for ways on how to make his son realize that there is a big world out there full of adventures and fun. And today he might just succeed because he is confident that when he shows whatever is on those papers his son will surely change his mind and start being more active instead of just reading war tactics and cloud watching. (A/N: Alex is a very smart and calculating child, so he spends his time reading about different tactics and strategies)

"I wanted to show you these papers that I have collected over the years about the Pirate King Gol D. Roger." said Vincent with sparkling eyes.

"Huuuh? Pirate King? Gol D. Roger? What are you saying pops?" said Alex with a confused expression.

"Son, this guy right here, Gol D. Roger, was the man who reached the final island in the Grand Line and became the Pirate King." said Vincent as he showed the pile of papers to his son

"So what pops? What does it have to do with me?" asked Alex still with a confused expression.

"You see son, the Pirate King had everything in his grasp. He had money, fame, power, and most of all FREEDOM. He had the most freedom in the seas!" shouted Vincent as he was explaining to his son.

Alex's eyes shined as he heard the word 'FREEDOM' he didn't want any treasure, he didn't want any fame, he just wanted the freedom to do whatever he wanted and he knows he can get this freedom while sailing in the seas.

"REALLY?! HE WAS THE PERSON WITH THE MOST FREEDOM IN THE WORLD?!" Alex couldn't believe what he was hearing.

"Yes son, he was the person who was at the top of the world." said Vincent

"The pops how come you know a lot about the Pirate King?" asked Alex

"You might not believe this, but I was a part of the Pirate King's crew." declared Vincent as he patted his chest

"YOU WERE PART OF HIS CREW?!" shouted Alex as he learned about his father's shocking past.

"Yes I was, and I was an officer, so I was kind of a big deal back then." said Vincent with pride in his voice

"Pops can I sail now? I want to be the Pirate King so I can be the person with the most freedom!" declared Alex

"WAHAHAHAHAHA son it's too early for you to sail, but don't worry you still have 12 years to go before you can sail. And how can you be the Pirate King without a crew?" said Vincent

"It's fine pops, I don't need a crew I'll just become strong enough so that I can beat anyone in my way." said Alex as he was flexing his non-existent muscles.

*BONK*

"OWW! WHAT WAS THAT FOR OLD MAN?!" said an angry Alex

"Let me tell you something Alex, it is important to have your crew and treat them as your family because what's the use of being the Pirate King if you don't have anyone beside you? It is not about the destination son; it is about the journey. The journey with your crew and the countless memories you will make with them. And that would make your journey a whole lot better." said Vincent in a serious tone.

Alex became silent for a while and made it his other goal to gather the best crew in the seas and protect them like his family.

"Then pops, can you help me train to be ready for everything before I sail?" asked a determined Alex.

"Of course son. I will train you in everything I know." said Vincent
