Chapter 80

Without responding to Blackbeard's words, the tall and burly man raised his head slightly, peering down at Blackbeard with a mischievous grin, and spoke in a chilling tone.

"I have two questions for you!"

"Where is your ship?"

"Is Carnes still alive?"

Upon hearing the brazen tone of the other party, a member of the Blackbeard Pirates immediately stepped forward, ready to confront the audacious man.

However, before he could take a single step, Blackbeard intervened.

"Forget it. You'd better not challenge him!"

The wanna-be assailant hesitated for a moment upon hearing Blackbeard's warning, but ultimately, he withdrew obediently.

The burly man paid no mind to the scene and continued to look down on Blackbeard and his crew with disdain.

Though a tinge of fear lingered in his heart, Blackbeard mustered a smile and replied,

"My ship is just outside.

As for Carnes, there is indeed a newcomer with that name among us, but I'm not sure if he's the one you're referring to."

Hearing Blackbeard's response, the burly man grinned and stepped forward.

Startled by his sudden approach, Blackbeard took a step back.

But the burly man spoke again.

"Where is that man?"

Blackbeard was slightly bewildered. He couldn't comprehend why this legendary figure was seeking out a newcomer who had recently set sail.

Yet, he quickly formulated a plan to handle the situation.

"I don't know his exact location, but he's likely at Marineford."

"At this very moment, Fire Fist Ace, the commander of the second division of the Whitebeard Pirates, has been captured.

There's bound to be a clash between Marines and Whitebeard Pirates at Marine Headquarters. The person you're looking for might be there.

As Blackbeard spoke, the burly man drew closer.

Emanating an overwhelming oppressive aura that sent shivers down Blackbeard's spine.

"Marines and Edward Newgate? Huh?" The burly man smiled and walked right past Blackbeard.

As the burly man left, Blackbeard felt a sense of relief wash over him.

However, before he could fully recover, the burly man's voice reached him slowly.

"Come on let's move, bastards!"

Hearing those words, all members of the Blackbeard Pirates suddenly clenched their fists in anger.

One of the members raised his gun and aimed it at the burly man.

But Blackbeard intervened, commanding them to stand down.

Surprised by their captain's restraint in the face of such humiliation, the crew members couldn't help but look at Blackbeard in disbelief.

They exchanged puzzled glances, curious about his actions.

Without waiting for their inquiries, Blackbeard began to explain.

"This is not someone we can mess with!"

His words shocked the crew members, and they looked at Blackbeard in shock.

He continued; his resentment evident as he spoke of the departing burly man.

"He was a monster who could rival Dark King, Silvers Rayleigh, the former first mate of Pirate King Gol D. Roger, a legend in his own right!"

"He's Douglas Bullet, also known as the 'Demon Heir'!"

Determined not to engage in a futile battle, Blackbeard led his crew away, following Douglas Bullet.

"Come on, my comrades, now is not the time to fight him."

"We have more important things to do!"

With Blackbeard taking the lead, the crew followed Douglas Bullet, departing from the scene.

In that moment, Douglas Bullet's face bore a flamboyant smile, and his fighting spirit seemed to overflow as he walked down the prison hallway.

He gazed at the path ahead, reminiscing about the past, his mind filled with a variety of thoughts.

"I thought the sea lost its meaning after Roger's death, but I never expected you, someone who should have died back then, to still be alive now, Are you?!"

"The sea wouldn't be so dreadfully dull if it were you sailing these waters!"

"This time, let me be the one to kill you instead of that guy!"

The Gale Emperor Pirates found themselves in a vast sea area, aboard their mighty ship, the Eternal Gale.

As the crew gathered on the deck, anticipation filled the air.

"Captain, the gate is in sight!" announced a crew member on watchtower duty at the main mast.

In unison, the crew instinctively made way towards the bow of the ship,

Carnes, Albedo, Ulquiorra Cifer, Demiurge, and others made their way through the ranks eventually reaching the bow.

Standing upon a skull sculpture at the bow,

Carnes gazed into the distance, where a colossal gate loomed above the horizon, the legendary "Gate of Justice" - the very barrier obstructing their path to Marineford.

"It's taking longer than I expected," Carnes remarked casually, feeling the direction of the wind.

A senior crew member leaned on the ship's railing, eyeing the closed Gate of Justice in the distance, voicing his doubts.

"Is the gate closed? How do we get through? Can we find another route around it?"

"There's no going around it" Carnes replied calmly.

"To reach Marineford, we must navigate the proper current and pass through the Gate of Justice.

Going around it is impossible. The currents on either side are treacherous whirlpools that prevent any ship from moving forward.

It is due to the reverse vortices caused by whirlpools on both sides of the Gate of Justice that makes it impossible for the ship to go ahead.

The crew was taken aback by the revelation that they couldn't bypass the gate, growing even more perplexed.

"Then how do we get through? If the gate is shut, can we open it when we get there?" they inquired.

Carnes focused his gaze on the imposing Gate of Justice.

"The power room controlling the gate is in Marineford, under Marine's control. They won't open it for us," he explained.

Then, he slowly turned his head and looked at the crew behind him.

"As for how we'll pass through this closed gate... we'll simply open it ourselves!" he declared resolutely.
