6 Chapter 6

Shortly after, all the customers in the tavern had left, except for Afura, who was managing the store, and her two children, along with Carnes.

Lily and Light stood protected behind Afura.

Afura served Carnes a drink on the rocks.

"Um, aren't you going to run?" Light cautiously observed Carnes from behind Afura and asked softly.

Obviously, the two children didn't recognize Carnes, who had become younger.

Carnes took a sip of his drink and looked at Light.

"Why should I run?"

"Aren't you afraid? Pirates might come, and the tavern is their favorite place..." Light said.

Carnes smiled lightly, his tone calm.

"Not afraid."

Never mind that the pirates they were referring to were most likely his recruited crew members.

Even if they weren't, even if he was still badly injured, even if he hadn't fully recovered!

As long as they weren't one of the Four Emperors, any other pirate even a Supernova, Carnes had no fear of them.

Moreover, now he had already recovered, restored to the peak of his physical condition.

In this state, even Kaido, Charlotte, or even Whitebeard, any of the Four Emperors, would be unable to defeat him. It was true in the past, and it is true now!

"Do you know Carnes?" Light suddenly asked.

This question made Carnes pause for a moment, and he looked at Light.

Light gestured while speaking.

"He's an old man who likes to drink, with white hair and a somewhat bad personality. Do you know him?"

Carnes turned his head and looked at Afura.

Afura shrugged her shoulders, clearly finding it amusing.

Carnes turned back and looked at Light.

This little brat had no respect for elders, openly speaking ill of him!

Although he thought so, Carnes still chuckled and spoke.

"I know him."

Light observed Carnes and a bright smile appeared on his face.

"I knew it! After all, big brother, you look a lot like that old man!"

"But big brother, you're even more handsome than that old man."

Hearing Light calling him big brother, Carnes was also taken aback.

This title, for someone of his age, already in his sixties or seventies, was indeed a long time ago.

Even Afura, who was beside them, couldn't help but show a hint of surprise upon hearing Light address Carnes in such a way.

However, before Afura could say anything, Light's tone changed, and he said with a smile.

"Is big brother here to find the old man?"

"Why do you say that?" Carnes looked at Light, smiling, and asked.

Light thought for a moment, pondering, and then spoke.

"Because I've never seen big brother in this town before, so I thought you just arrived. And you look a bit like the old man, and since I know him, I thought you might be looking for that old man who loves to drink."

"I know where he is, you know. Today, Lily and I even went to bring him some drinks."

Upon hearing Light's explanation, Carnes nodded in realization and said with a smile.

"I see."

"However, that old man is no longer here."

Hearing Carnes' sudden words, Light was momentarily stunned and responded incredulously.

"Old... Is the old man gone?"

"How... How is that possible?! The old man was still strong! I even went to deliver him some wine today, and he was perfectly fine!"

"Even though that old drunkard has a terrible personality, if you're joking about this, big brother, I'll get angry too..."

This time, Afura didn't wait for Light to finish speaking.

She gently ruffled Light 's head and smiled.

"You fool, he doesn't mean that the old man has died, but rather that he's no longer in this town."

Light was slightly taken aback by her words.

Realizing what she meant, he quickly apologized to Carnes.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I thought..."

Carnes raised his hand to interrupt Light 's next words and chuckled.

"It's okay, I don't mind."

"Why did he leave the town? Where did he go?" Light asked, pursuing the question.

Carnes smiled and said, "Because he has something important to do."

"Because he met a child who told him that it would be too suffocating to die on this island like this."

"He should recover, he should go on an adventure, he should settle the unfinished grievances and conflicts."

"He also said that he could never get used to a quiet life."

"The tumultuous and vast sea is his true home!"

Listening to Carnes' words, Light couldn't help but curl his lips.

"Who is that child? How could he say such things to that grumpy old man, considering his age?"

Carnes looked at Light , smiled, and remained silent.

At that moment, Afura looked at Carnes, smiled, and asked.

"What does he think about it? We shouldn't take the words of a child to heart."

Carnes shook his head slightly while maintaining his smile.

"Although it's the words of a child, that child is right. He also thinks the same way in his heart."

"He has always wanted to resolve those old grievances."

"The events of the past made him angry, and he has been angry all along, never changing!"

Afura smiled, gently closed her eyes, and lowered her head.

"I see, then I can rest assured."
