Title: Kind by Nature?

As the Strawhats approached the Drum Kingdom, they were surprised by how many ships were around the waters. From pirates, Bounty Hunters, Marines, and other sketchy people. But all of them were nervous as they got closer to the island. 

Zoro observed this and his eyes narrowed. "These men are all fearful of something."

"Well, these kinds of people aren't always the bravest kinds of people." Sanji refuted, but Zoro wasn't buying it at all. There was no threat happening around, yet it seemed like something was happening around here. It wasn't just some people, no, every one of them was scared.

"No, they are terrified," Zoro insisted as he kept analyzing the people. 'They move like sheep, too afraid to do anything wrong. Like their lives are in danger at even the smallest mistakes. Yeah… Vivi said this guy was dangerous, but this goes beyond that. Even when he isn't looking at them, people feel his dominance over their whole being. Like no matter what you did, he would be able to see it.'

Usopp was his usual cowardly self as he saw this. "U -Um… can't we just get a doctor to come to our ship? This feels like a dangerous place."

Vivi looked even more fearful than the others. She remembered how even Crocodile had sent a message towards his subordinates to not try and dig too deep in finding any information about the man ruling this island. Initially, she had thought that maybe it was just because it would be too troublesome for Crocodile if there was a conflict between them. At best she assumed that maybe Max could be as powerful as Crocodile even though she didn't think that was very likely.

But now this had changed her perspective. Not even Baroque Works was this fearful and obedient towards their boss. Because if Crocodile revealed himself then it would be dangerous, but Max on the other hand never really hid anything, but that somehow worked in his favor. After all, when you hide nothing, people won't be able to get you in a pinch. For that same reason, the World Government and Marines couldn't fire him or even act against him publicly.

'Was Crocodile afraid of Max?' that thought run through Vivi's mind. She couldn't dismiss such a thought. Now that also proposed another danger or maybe an opportunity? If she asked Max for help, would he help her or see more benefits in colluding with Crocodile as partners in crime? Even if he agreed, Max didn't seem like the kind of guy who would let her father just run Alabasta anymore. Instead, would her country become another Drum Kingdom? Max killed off Wapol skillfully, would he do the same thing to her father? 

Vivi wanted to hope for the best, but she knew better due to the information Baroque Works had on him. If she had been a normal and naive princess then she would have seen him as a liberator who helped the Drum Kingdom. But Vivi wasn't naive, she could see the invisible strings Max had over this kingdom. Just like a puppeteer with its puppet.

In the end, she shook her head. Dismissing any thoughts of asking Max for help. That would just be like replacing Crocodile with another possibly even worse and stronger enemy.

"Yahhho!!" Luffy exclaimed in happiness once they reached the port. It was filled with guards wearing marine uniforms all over. Even though Vivi would bet that most of these weren't even Marines. Yet Max was using the name of the Marines as his guard-dog. 

Now that she thought about it, this was quite smart and if he was questioned, then Max can just use the excuse of Sharlia the World Noble made him do it. Which by now it had become quite clear to anyone with even half a brain what was happening here and who was really in control.

Ray came towards them. "Follow me, the General Hospital has its best doctors prepared and ready for your friend."

Luffy went to grab Nami, but Sanji stopped him before their reckless captain did something stupid as throwing her over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes and without care. Sanji puts nami on a piggyback and moved to see Ray.

Ray's eyes shone as she looked at nami. "She seems in a bad condition. Do you wanna have me take her to the hospital while you just ask someone to take you there. You never know, a couple of seconds sometimes saves the patient's life."

"I am trusting you," said Luffy, and Sanji gave Nami to Ray. But the captain looked straight at Raynare's purple eyes. "If you harm Nami or do anything to her… I will kill you."

Raynare nodded as giant wings appeared behind and she flew off in an instant. As she got high in the sky and set off. 

'Was that supposed to be scary?' wondered Raynare. To her, Luffy threatening her was nothing. It wasn't a strength thing either. For example, even if she had the power of a Yonko, she would still be scared if Max threatened her. Why? Because people like Luffy will just attack you out front, and that's it. Max wasn't like that at all he would instead kill the people closest to you slowly sending you parts of them till your spirit was broken. 

With that in mind, Raynare chuckled. "Strawhat… he is about as scary as a fly, in comparison to him."

It didn't take long for the Strawhats to reach the hospital, though Zoro seemed to have been lost along the way. But he was strong enough so the others weren't too worried about him.

Though they were worried even more because when they reached the hospital. None of the doctors there could do anything about the ancient disease that Nami had. Developing a cure wasn't possible before she would die. They were all in the hospital room that Nami was being kept in.

"But if it's the Royal Doctors, it might be different," Raynare reassured now.

"Then let's go and get them!" Yelled out Luffy.

"No!" She refused him instantly. "The King is currently in training."

"Who cares about that, we need the doctors, not your king." Sanji intervened, they were in a rush and didn't have time for these players. 

This caused Raynare to frown. "I understand your situation. But sorry, no one can just go to the palace and get the Royal Doctors without Max's permission."

"So what?! We just let Nami die then?! No way, I don't care, I am doing to get the doctors. Even if I have to turn this Kingdom upside down!" Luffy yelled out.

In that instant, Raynare looked at him with malicious intent. "Do that, and I will kill you all with my own hands." 

Her words were calm and deadly, making Sanji and Luffy get ready to fight, while Vivi and Usopp got back to not get in the way.

Raynare looked at them calmly, pulled out a scalpel, and moved at incredible speeds. Neither Luffy nor Sanji could react as the next thing they knew she had a scalpel pointed at the unconscious Nami's throat. "Don't fùck with me. Who the hell do you think we are? Just some people you can mess with and go away happily?"

Luffy clenched his teeth and looked at her in anger. Sanji also had a malicious look on his face as he gazed at Raynare. "If you do something to Nami -san, I will make sure this whole Kingdom gets dragged to hell."

"If I was in your position I wouldn't do something so stupid." Raynare pressed the scalpel on Nami's skin even deeper, creating a small cut on her neck. "If I push even a little more she will get her artery cut and die. Maybe you have been messing with no-name nobodies before. But with us it's different. If you do something stupid here… well… Sanji, I will slaughter the whole Baratie Restaurant. Luffy, I will kill Makino. You are at sea, so catching you will be a lot of work… but your loved ones are all fair game! So don't fùck with us!"

All of them started at Ray in fear, until now she had been very kind and nice to them. But as soon as they started disregarding Max's rules...

A/N: Raynare was a kind person by Nature. But you become who you stay with, staying with Max has pushed her over the line of what she considered bad. In the beginning stealing from pirates wasn't okay, but Max used words to ascertain that crime making it seem legal. As the line gets pushed further and further, things become okay to do. Now she is so far down that as long as Max says it, she will do it and justify the actions in her mind. Like for example, Nami and the others are pirates and her families are acquaintances to the criminals so killing them wouldn't be a big deal.
