Training

Tom stood in front of Gible. He wanted to train his first Pokemon, but then he realized that in this little village was nobody he could fight against. Tom searched for high grass and walked in it for several minutes, but no Rattata or Pidgey appeared, so he assumed he was the only one who could summon Pokemon. After that, he walked into the village and stood in front of every human being he could find. He watched them for a long time, but nobody reacted and challenged him for a Pokemon fight. This was the One Piece world, this world wasn't like earth or the Pokemon world. He had to find new ways to train his little dragon.

So the only thing that he could do was to fight his partner himself. He was in the body of Monkey D. Luffy, this shouldn't be too difficult, right?

Gible, like the stubborn little dragon he was, accepted the challenge of his trainer.

Tom let out a scream and that was the signal to start the fight. He ran towards Gible and punched him in the face. Gible rolled a few meters to the back. The poor little guy had problems to stand on his little feet and his ball-like body wasn't a big help.

Gible stood up and looked towards his trainer in confusion. This punch wasn't strong, even a Magikarp could damage him more than his trainer.

But what the little dragon saw next confused him even more. Tom was holding his hand and screamed. He was rolling on the ground while still holding his hand. Wasn't his trainer the one who punched him? Why is the attacker injured?

"Damn it, what is this pain!", screamed Tom before he realized something. He took his Pokedex out and watched over the information about Gible.

"It's his ability", shouted Tom.

Gible's ability was Rough Skin. The Pokedex described it as follows:

[Enemies making contact with this Pokemon lose 1/8 of their maximum HP, rounded down.]

His jaw dropped to the ground. He didn't realize this when he played the game, but in the real world, this ability was a little bit OP.

"Wait, does that mean that when I punch you eight times, I will die? Or at least faint? When I hit you eight times… This is ridiculous!"

He couldn't help but think about different scenarios.

"So when Garp, or should I say, my old man, hits you eight times with his fist of love, he will be defeated, too? Isn't this too insane?"

Tom questioned how absolute the abilities of his Pokemon were. But this would make the training more difficult. Luffy had to attack with ranged moves, but he didn't have any. He had to think about this.

"Let us think about this later. I can punch you six times, after that, we have to be careful. Here I come!"

Gible was proud of his little trainer. He was as stubborn as the dragon, and that made the little dragon happy. Gible wanted to test an attack.

Before Tom could punch Gible, he was confronted with a really scary face. Tom didn't know that his cute little ball of a dragon could make such a face, but he was really scared. His movement started to get slower.

"Why am I so slow?", Tom screamed before he realized that this was the effects of the egg move his Gible had. Scary Face!

"Damn it, this makes the targets speed slower by two stages. I'm a five-year-old boy, how high can my speed be? This damn attack!"

Well, the next thing that happened was even more tragic. The little dragon wanted to test his second move, an almighty attack named Tackle. So he ran towards his master and tackled the five-year-old boy to the ground.

Tom couldn't even scream before everything went black and he passed out. Maybe even in the body of the protagonist of this story, a level five Gible was too much for a little boy. The rubber fruit would really come in handy at times like this.

Gible watched towards his master and was confused. Was his master sleeping? It didn't look like it. His mighty attack knocked his master out, Gible was a little proud of himself. But then he panicked.

"Gible? Gible! Gible, Gib…"

He realized he needed help.

He tried to carry his trainer with his arms, but Gible's arms were too short and his body too big. So he had only one choice, to carry his master with his mouth.

Foosha Village.

It was a normal day in Foosha Village. Well, it was normal until a little dragon with a little boy in his mouth walked into the village.

A woman who saw this couldn't help but scream.

"Isn't… Isn't this little Luffy?"

Her scream alarmed the other villagers and all of them looked towards the dragon.

"Wow! A dragon?"

"The dragon is eating the boy!"

"Quick, take something to fight the dragon! We have to rescue little Luffy or Garp will kill us all!"

The villagers, with the courage they got when they thought about the scary grandfather of the little boy, ran towards the dragon.

But the dragon looked at them with a scary face.

Yeah, he used his egg move, ‚Scary Face'.

This not only made the villagers a lot slower, but it also freaked them out.

"This dragon is really scary!"

"Damn it, run! I don't want to fight this dragon!"

Scary Face was more powerful than Tom had ever imagined. All the villagers were running away from a little guy that wasn't even taller than a meter.

Gible found a house that looked like a bar. He ran into the bar and saw a young girl there. Before the little dragon arrived in front of the girl, he stumbled and rolled on the ground three or four times.

The clumsiness was a serious issue with this fellow.

Still with Luffy in his mouth, Gible tried to talk, but couldn't, because his trainer was still in his mouth. He dropped Luffy to the ground, pointed his little hands towards his master, and began to speak.

"Gible!", he said. "Gible, Gib, Gible…"

Makino, the girl who worked in that bar, looked towards the dragon-like he was talking an understandable language.

"So Luffy was injured?", she asked.

"Gible!"

"Okay, let's go to the doctor!"

….

Tom awoke with a headache. The first thing he saw was a little ball that resembled a dragon and had a huge mouth. And this guy was jumping towards him. He was heavy.

"Gible, get off!"

After that, he could breathe again. The first thing Tom did was taking out his Pokedex. He opened the Trainer app and looked at his EXP.

"Wow! Gible, I've got 20 EXP from our fight. Only 80 left before I level up."

It was a little bit confusing for Gible that his master didn't question where he was or why he was sleeping in the first place. He did question himself if the almighty Tackle was too hard and left permanent damage in the head of his trainer.

"Gible?"

Tom looked up and clenched his fist.

"From today on, Tom is gone. I'm now Monkey D. Luffy, and we will reach the peak of this world!"

"GIBLE!", screamed the little dragon with stubborn determination.

"Let's train again, partner!"

Makino walked into the room before Gible could give his answer.

"I don't think being knocked out because of a heavy hit on your head was a good way to… train. Maybe you should rest until your injuries are gone", said Makino.

Luffy sighed.
