Romance is the Sweeting of the soul with fragrance by the stricken heart- Lion and the Jewel.
Ifeoma was confused on the line of action to take. She was just clad in a red bra and panties staring and crying infront of the mirror when Obi barged in without a warning.
All things being equal she was not supposed to feel abashed. Obi was after all her husband but she new better than anyone that things has never being close to equal between she and Obi. Their marriage was never supposed to happen in the first place; her pregnancy was all woven in a twist of a night of undiluted pleasure. The night she lost her chasity and single hood. One unforgettable night turned her life around.
"Are you okay? Is the baby okay?" Obi asked freighted. What if he had hurt her? The question hunted him. He wouldn't forgive himself if anything had happened to her or his child because of his childish behaviour earlier. He couldn't even explain what came over him. The only thing he knew was; he felt so angry when he saw her talking to that man and laughing so seductively or rather happily. Aren't they the same? She wasn't meant to laugh like that with any other man. Agreed he hasn't being the best husband; who was he kidding he hasn't being a husband at all to her, but, he was still her husband and the only man that was meant to be in her life or make her laugh. No, especially make her laugh that way.
Whatever the situation he knew he over reacted. Why? he couldn't tell. It couldn't be jealously he kept on telling himself. Lucy was the only one allowed to make him feel that way. What still baffles him was; he never felt that way with Lucy. Maybe because she never gave him the reason to, he tried to convince himself. He was soon snaped back to reality.
"What are you doing here?" Ifeoma asked still over whelmed with the whole scenario as she scampered to wear back her clothes.
"Can I feel it?"
Ifeoma was totally confused and dumpfounded. What was he talking about.
"I mean the baby" Obi said whist moving forward and Ifeoma on the other hand moving backwards.
"I've never seen the stomach of a pregnant woman before. You look beautiful" Obi said as he slowly advanced towards Ifeoma.
Was he drunk again or high on something? Ifeoma thought to herself. She was frightened, abahased in fact. She couldn't explain how she felt. What the hell was going on? He was meant to be furious about what she did few minutes ago and not compliment her. For goodness sake how could she be beautiful with her bloated stomach. He must definitely be drunk, Ifeoma concluded.
She continued to move backwards until she hit a hard surface. She didn't know where else to run to; she was already at the edge of the bed. Still contemplating the next action to take; she felt her body crash down gently on a soft surface; she was on the mattress and Obi was hovering above her.
"What do you think you're doing?" She starmmed.
"Looking at my wife" the shameless man said.
This was all new to Ifeoma, she never saw this side of Obi. He always exuded perfection, an impeccable flare of majesty and fastidiousness. Ifeoma felt as thou she was dreaming. Everything was happening so fast.
As thou, Obi sensed her unconformability; realising himself; he soon stood up. What just happened? Was he hypnotised or was he loosing his senses? He couldn't explain what has being happening to him ever since he saw her laughing with that superbious guy from earlier or why he has being thinking of her even when he traveled to another country in search of his missing wife. Normally, he would be bloted in grieve at his failed mission but he found himself thinking about Ifeoma the whole time. Someone must have really cast a spell on him.
"I'm sorry.... I don't know what came over me... I mean...." He stammered. Something that has never happened to him before. He must have himself checked he thought painfully to himself.
"Can you rob me?"
Did he just hear right? Did she just say that?
"The baby is kicking" Ifeoma said gesturing to her stomach.
Obi suddenly felt so excited, a new form of happiness he had never felt before; an emotion new and pure. For years now he had just being existing in a void of darkness and grieve. Somehow that void seems to have being replaced with something else; guilt, anger and now something alien and unexplainable.
Obi moved to the bed, slightly sitting and slightly laying beside Ifeoma who was still laying down. He touched her stomach and nothing else mattered. Not his guilt nor his grieve; his child, his light, his seed just announced its presence to him in the most unprecedented and unexpected manner.
For the first time in a long while he was sure he felt happy. No he was beyond elated. This child would surely fill the void so empty he's carried for years. He had never thought so much about his unborn child; he never allowed himself such luxury. To him it was just one of those things but presently, he wished it would be a girl. Yes a beautiful girl. He smiled as a drop of tears escaped his eyes.
Ifeoma was has being watching him all along trenched in her own tears wished as always that their marriage was normal. She wished Obi would let go of his grieve and come to accept her as a part of him. That was her ultmost wish.
Obi soon cleans the tears off his eyes as he stares Ifeoma right in the eye. "Thank you" he said from the bottom of his heart.
Soon, from touching her stomach his hands wandered to her cleavage. Ifeoma stiffened. Obi was the first man to ever go intimate with her and it was once and short or rather lasted until the alcohol in his system faded out. Ifeoma felt a new wave of emotion surge through her almost the same with the way she felt that night.
Still lost in the roller coaster of emotions and new waves of pleasure; Obi's mouth came colliding on hers as the bell of pleasure began to ring between them. They were both hungry for each other.
Obi might have being able to lie to himself all this while but deep down he knew he wanted a taste of her again. God! She tasted so good. She wasn't a pro but her kiss was almost addictive. It was as thou she poured all her emotions to it.
Obi was lost, he allowed himself to be lost. The avalanche of emotions submerging inside him clouded every other thought and muted every other feelings.
