45 Chapter 44: Old Friend

Under the special care and attention of her parents and Aunt Geneva, Lucas, James, Dennis and Aaron had great times and were able to taste Aunt Geneva delicious homecooked food. After dinner, the four thanks Father Tang, Mother Tang and Aunt Geneva for their hospitality and bid them farewell before heading back to the hotel. Ruby stayed back home. On the way home, a million thoughts ran through his head, thinking what Aunt Geneva had mentioned.. marriage.

The next morning, while Ruby was tidying her luggage, she received a phone call from Marcus. He wanted her to meet her. "I need to see you. Can we meet up anytimes today?" Ruby kept silence. "Ruby, I know I've hurt you but we still can be friends, right. Couldn't I invite an old friend for tea? Please!!!" Infacts, she didn't like meeting him, but since Marcus had already asked and stated they're old friends, there's no reason to refuse him. So Rudy replied. "What time? Where?"

So, that afternoon around 3.00pm, Ruby drove Aunt Geneva's car all her way to their frequent visited Swift's Bar Club. Her car was still parked at the hotel parking. In order not to make her feel awkward, Marcus waited for her at the entrance and led her into the club. Nothing change inside the lavish club, beautiful classical music resounded and a famous singer was playing the piano. She was dressed in a long pink dress and was sitting elegantly with a glass of juices.

"Ruby, I miss you.. I really missed you. All these times, since you're away, I couldn't help but thinking of you. I still love you!" Marcus said holding her hands. "Marcus, behave yourself. You're gonna be a father soon. Furthermore, I...I'm not the same old me. I have found someone I love now." Ruby replied honestly. As soon as he heard what she had said, his expressions was filled with sadness and regrets.

"But we still be friends if you like. Marcus, I'm letting you go, honestly. I forgive your and Lilian betrayal behind my back in the past. I understand love cannot be pressure, its mutual feelings felt between two people. Furthermore, she's carrying your baby, you should treats her better than salvage your relationships. I don't love you anymore. I'm starting a new life with him. I hope you do the same." Ruby told him.

Marcus was shocked. His face went pale and started to freak out when he heard her words from her. He was full of himself earlier after Ruby agreed to meet him, believing he's still can win her back. It was unexpectedly hard to accept that her relationships with Lucas are deeper than his with her. Her relationships with that guy weren't long enough as his.

Marcus glared helplessly at this girl and said. "Ruby...! The way I look at it, you didn't love him as much as you love me." After a breath taking pause. "Ruby, I.. I really wanted you back by my side." Things were getting out of control. Marcus suddenly stood up and went over to back hugged her tightly. "I still love you!" Ruby got frustrated and shouted. "Stop it! Marcus, what're you doing? Have you thought about Lilian? Have you thought about your baby?"

Ruby struggles out of Marcus. The good thing was that Ruby wasn't messing around with him, she actually wanted to meet to settled their past and assured him, her feelings for Lucas now. According to her, she has given up on him not because she's with Lucas now, as a lot of things in the past cannot be repeated.. so its best to let it 'bygones be bygones', only memories saved.

"Dream on Ruby! I'm not letting you go. I will find my ways to get you back now or later." He said. "Marcus, your ruthless and masochism was becoming more and more severe!" She yelled. Marcus remained silent, but he was not flustered. He grabbed onto the Ruby's wrist. "Don't provoke me, Ruby! You don't know what I'll do later." Ruby was frightened by his outburst.

Although she still wanted to provoke him, if she dared to say another word, it was the kind of look that threatened to swallow her whole. Just as she was about to respond, suddenly someone appeared infront of their table. Its was Lucas. Ruby suddenly felt relieved, something huge had been uplifted from her soul. "How did you know where I would be?" Ruby who's delighted, asked. "I have my ways of finding out what I want to know." Lucas answered, gave her a peck on her lips and sat down beside her.

To Lucas, she was a very important precious person in his life. He was hoping to see Ruby by sending her car to the Tang's residence, and before flying back to City-A tomorrow. Its was Aunt Geneva who told him about their meeting. So he quickly got the driver following him to send him here. As soon as he stepped out of the limousine, he saw Marcus back-hugging his sunshine through the window and stommed into the premise angry. But once he saw her smiling at him, all his upset's were gone in a flick seconds.

Marcus saw him and quickly responded coldly. "Ruby, you weren't like this before. I know you still love me. I know you're upset and angry. But if you still love me, you shouldn't be with him, you should be with me. For the sake of our family, we need to be together." After listening to what said, Ruby shooked her head.

Lucas didn't say anything. He simply lifted his head and gazed into Ruby. Their eyes met for a good few seconds.. He didn't want to waste any more times for his sunshine to be with this bastard. He knew exactly what Ruby what thinking. This exceptionally handsome man who was steadily sitting beside had gave her the courage to deal with this situation.
