The Vanquished

Staring up at the overcast sky through the dense jungle canopy, Batman blinked as he started to come to. Laying amidst the crash site of his Batplane, the caped crusader unstrapped himself from his ejection seat, where he groaned as he popped his dislocated shoulder back into place with a loud crack.

Leading a formation of state of the art fighter jets, Bruce Wayne had been working with the military to strike the bald clown nearby his mansion. Watching helplessly from above as one of the villain's attacks annihilated the NATO fleet, Batman had gotten a missile lock on Saitama and in conjunction with the fighter squadron, had shot enough missiles at him to obliterate a city. A single attacked from the grey-suited man was all that it took to render the weapons useless, and to send each and every plane crashing into the jungles below, destroyed.

Rising to his feet, the dark knight was able to diagnose that apart from buckling his shoulder on the way down, he'd escaped major injury and was covered in only superficial scrapes and bruises, which was all thanks to the Batplane's enhanced armor and durability. His fellow airmen weren't so fortunate. Checking his pocket to make sure that a certain device was intact, the dutiful hero planned to continue the mission.

Using his grappling hook to climb up one of the tall trees to get a better look of his surroundings, Batman could immediately tell that the island had sustained severe damage. Bellowing smoke rose from many parts of the jungle, craters could be seen littering the landscape, and the sand of a nearby shore was partially red as more dead sailors continued to wash up on the beach. Grimacing, Bruce had a bad feeling about how his teammates might have fared.

Meanwhile, Harley Quinn and Dabi were strolling along another beach, where Saitama had ordered them to hunt for anyone who may have survived his massacre of the landing forces. A group of 5 soldiers walked ahead of the pair with their arms raised, where the blue-flame villain held his hand behind them to coerce them forward under the threat of bathing them in all-consuming fire.

"W-where the hell are you taking us?" one of the men asked, turning his head to look at the young man.

"Back to the house, I have no idea what the boss wants to do with you though," Dabi replied with a shrug as he stepped over the sand.

"Whoa, heads up! I see movement over there!" Harley exclaimed as she ran ahead of the pack, splashing through the shallows of the beach as waves gently cascade across the sand. An inflatable life raft with 3 people on board was disembarking, where the sailors helped each other up and onto the sandy banks.

"Hey, are you- ah shit," one of the uniformed men groaned as they saw the jester girl walking towards them with a looted pistol in each of her hands.

"Arms up, boys, and go join the others over there!" Harley grinned as she forced the men, who appeared to be simple seamen from one of the sunken ships, to join the other 5 that the pair of villains had captured.

Returning to Saitama's mansion with their captives, Dabi forced the men into a garage that was separated from the main house, where 15 other prisoners were already sitting on the concrete floor of the small structure, with worried expressions on their faces as they wondered what their fates could be.

"I wonder what Mista S is gonna do with all these guys," Harley pondered as they locked the garage behind them before returning to the mansion.

"Who knows, he's been gone for a few hours now, so-" Dabi began, only for a massive flash of blue light to explode from above the house's roof.

A boom tube opened up and Saitama promptly dropped out of it, sliding down the roof and landing on the ground a short distance away from his 2 accomplices. A curious green vile was in his hand.

"Tah-dah! I was just at this one universe, and boy was it ugly!" the bald villain grinned as he put the grey cube back into the pocket of his costume. "This company called Umbrella was messing up the world with this bioweapon or something that turns people into monsters, and I got myself a sample from one of their labs!"

Dabi backed away as Saitama held the green vile towards him, before the caped baldy turned and next showed it to Harley, who eyed the liquid within curiously.

"Turns people into monsters eh? Don't tell me…"

"So, did you guys manage to capture anyone?" the bald clown interrupted with a wide grin.

"I stuck 'em in there, we got about 20 survivors or so altogether," the flame villain replied with his hands in his pockets while nodding to the garage.

"Yeah, see, here they are!" Harley said as she opened the door to reveal the prisoners. Before the other 2 could react, Saitama casually tossed the vile into the garage, where it shattered open on one of the soldiers.

"What the hell is this?" the man asked as he wiped the unmarked serum off of himself, before the bald clown commanded that the door be closed.

"We'll let them cook in that for a bit, and by tomorrow, we should have ourselves some new henchmen!" Saitama exclaimed to the confusion of his 2 accomplices.

Something suddenly got Dabi's attention, where the villain turned to raise is arm towards an unseen foe, only for a flying batarang to imbed itself into his shoulder.

Dabi groaned in pain as the weapon promptly electrocuted him, where he fell backwards, stunned.

"No way, he's still kickin'?" Harley asked as a black figure emerged from the jungle, his dark costume contrasting with the lush green trees behind him.

"BATMAN!!" the bald clown roared in glee, his smile stretching almost from ear to ear. "I knew you wouldn't go down that easily! How have you be-"

Saitama paused as the caped crusader threw 2 more batarangs in his direction, where the hairless villain easily caught the sharp projectiles and held them up to the sun.

"Ohhhh sweet, these again," the grey-suited man remarked, inspecting each of them closely. "What are they going to do now? Shock me? Explode?"

Batman continued calmly walking towards the villains, his face as stoic as ever as he spotted the corpses of Martian Manhunter, Aquaman, and Wonder Woman nearby, their bodies disrespectfully left there to rot.

Meanwhile, Saitama began to feel a sensation that had long since grown foreign to him: pain. Starting from his spine, the slow, aching throb began to run down his arms and legs, before reaching up to his neck until even the bald villain's face began to tingle. Starting off initially as a mere sting, the pain began to grow more and more excruciating by the second,

"W-wow!! What is this?!" the caped baldy demanded in both excitement and awe as he inspected his body for signs of damage. "This actually smarts quite a bit! Is this a trick or something?"

"You could say that," Batman replied as he was upon the magenta-caped evil. "I like the new colors, by the way. Those batarangs that you caught with your bare hands were coated with an experimental stimulant that activates the nervous system upon being absorbed by the skin. It essentially forces your brain to make you believe that you are experiencing terrible pain."

"P-Puddin', are you okay?!" Harley asked as Saitama began to tremble while his body was rocked by a severe soreness.

"I don't approve of torture, but in your case, I'll make the exception," the dark knight muttered as he reached into his pocket to reveal that he too possessed one of the artificial mother boxes from Starlabs. "Now, while you're immobilized, I'm going to take you to another dimension that's devoid of life, and I've rigged this thing to explode so that it'll be destroyed once it's used. I'm taking you with me, bald clown."

Watching as Batman walked towards him, where the mother box began to glow blue, Saitama started laughing, impressed by the caped crusader's stratagem. His overpowered body straining as it dealt with the severe pain, the bald villain grunted as commanded his own nervous system to cease communication with his brain. His body obeyed, and Saitama sighed as the sensation of pain faded away.

Before he could dodge Batman, however, Harley Quinn promptly shoved the grey-suited man out of the way, where Bruce Wayne's stoic expression faded into shock for a second as he was too late to stop the boom tube from opening beneath him, pulling both him and the jester girl into another reality as his attempt to sacrifice himself to take Saitama into another dimension was foiled.

"Dammit, Harley, I just got rid of that pain stuff," the bald clown scoffed as both she and Batman vanished into the blue light, which then faded away as the two were effectively gone from the universe. "Talk about bad timing HAHAHA I wonder where he took her?"
