One Last Merchant

Magic is not real. Monster that defy logics should not exist. Yet, I cannot refute what is before my very eyes. What my mangled body has told me through painful experiences. What my dying mind has comprehended with my last willpower. The world that I have once lived in changed abruptly one day, and the new era dawned for the human race. It is done by the hands of those who are known as Rulers. They call it mercy, but I know it is a game to them. If they truly wish to help the human race, then there surely a better way than sacrificing billions to uplift the selected few. The Zoning Events was set in stone, and the dimensional barrier collapses, allowing the monsters that we could never hope to defeat with our current technology to enter our universe. Allowing horrifying worlds and landscapes to merge with our own. And through blood, sweat, and fear, we understand that our science cannot truly surpass the natural law of the universe. Only through magic, the human race might survive. Only through magic, a better future can be reached. Everything has its price, and no price is too great for the second chance. This is the story of the last Merchant. One Last Merchant. *** Disclaimer: This story contains graphical sex scenes and depictions of torture! Please enjoy! Terrors Waiting to Happen

Since I cannot find the Brain Slug, I can safely assume that it is still alive somewhere. Or maybe it is in someone, and that is quite disconcerting.

The tiny parasite can jump from host to host without even the host noticing, and therefore, it is fucking hard to find and kill. Find and kill for anyone but me, of course.

Even those who are no longer have the Brain Slug munching on their brain usually becomes psychotic murderers or more. A saint can become homicidal maniac acting solely on their desires and impulses after the slug has gone through their brain.

The Brain Slug do not usually kill their host. Not even when it moves onto a new host. This is because the old host might give birth to the next generation of Brain Slugs, thus they can increase their number exponentially.

Most parasite-type monster can increase their number very fast, actually.

I can recall a single bug wiped out an entire conclave, and I am sure that there is more than one within this life Zone. Great. I guess I have to concoct some bug repellents, and as precaution, I should always have my gasmask on. It does not only filter the air, but it also prevents creatures like Brain Slugs from infecting me.

In any case, I left the vault right after I steal everything within sight.

Since the Major has forgotten to assign anyone to keep an eye on me, I have a check of my status via the Status Window. As I have assumed previously, I am now level 8 Merchant.

My wealth now stands at 2.4 billion.

Awesome.

I immediately assign the newly awarded 5 Attribute Points (AP) to my Charisma, bringing it from 45 to 50. The increase will allow me to make more efficient use of my GP.

One that is done, I join the Major outside the building. Along the way there, I steal a few more things here and there. Alright, not a few. A lot of things.

"It will be night in a couple of hours, so we will be heading back to base," the Major orders. She knows that wandering about in the dark is extremely dangerous, as there are plenty of chances of ambushes and more.

I am actually more concern of what lurking within the darkness. Since this is only the third day, those kinds of monster should not be able to breech the dimensional barrier and enter Earth, but I am really not certain.

So many things have changed, after all.

As the Major wants to return to base, I am not going to argue. I want to head there anyway to locate my mother. The pedant is still pointing there, and it is as bright as ever. That means she is not harmed in any form.

"As for you, Merchant," the Major directs at me. "Come with me. We need to talk."

I furrow my brow and follow the Major away from the group. Once she pulls her gun on me, I blink in surprise. "Alright. You have my attention, Major."

I hope that you enjoy the chapter.
