One Last Merchant

Magic is not real. Monster that defy logics should not exist. Yet, I cannot refute what is before my very eyes. What my mangled body has told me through painful experiences. What my dying mind has comprehended with my last willpower. The world that I have once lived in changed abruptly one day, and the new era dawned for the human race. It is done by the hands of those who are known as Rulers. They call it mercy, but I know it is a game to them. If they truly wish to help the human race, then there surely a better way than sacrificing billions to uplift the selected few. The Zoning Events was set in stone, and the dimensional barrier collapses, allowing the monsters that we could never hope to defeat with our current technology to enter our universe. Allowing horrifying worlds and landscapes to merge with our own. And through blood, sweat, and fear, we understand that our science cannot truly surpass the natural law of the universe. Only through magic, the human race might survive. Only through magic, a better future can be reached. Everything has its price, and no price is too great for the second chance. This is the story of the last Merchant. One Last Merchant. *** Disclaimer: This story contains graphical sex scenes and depictions of torture! Please enjoy! A Surprise Development

There is no need to level up the Establishment ability further because I have no use for other types of establishments at the moment, not before all the Zones have collapsed anyway. Despite not knowing what is happening in the outside world right now due to distortion in time and space within the Zone, I am sure it is in a state of chaos, at least financially.

"What. What? What!?" Everyone utters while covering their eyes from the blinding light that does not seem to originate from anywhere in particular. Their sights soon recover, allowing them to see all that are within the Subway Station.

"Okay Zander –

I raise my hand to shut Alex up, as my attention is on the new window. It is the Management Window for the newly established Headquarter. The window is blinking in red, informing me that the structural integrity of the Subway Station is critical, and if I do not do anything soon, it will collapse and probably bury everyone.

This should not have happened, but I suppose it is the fault of the subterranean monster. Its roots are all over the place, digging through everything and absorbing all the nutrients. Without anyone to stop it, it will grow into a Titan, and when the Life Zone collapses, the US Government will bomb this whole area into oblivion in order to prevent the creature from spreading its root over the face of the planet.

It might die in atomic fire, and it might not.

Quite a few places became a nuclear wasteland as a result, but that just create Radioactive-type beasts and monsters. Magic can adapt to Science incredibly fast, and Science should do the same in order to survive.

It will cost me about 2 million GP to full repair the Headquarter, and that is a lot for me right now. But the alternative is worse. So, I decide to cough out the money, reluctantly. Before I do, however, I have a look at everyone.

Alex, Alice, and the trio girlfriends are looking at me for answer. Jessica is not, as she is spending every precious second trying to save her brother, and her efforts pay off. Thomas is looking a lot better, and he would wake up soon.

"It is really hard to explain," I begin with a frown. I don't have to explain to anyone anything, but they should at least know enough to stay out of trouble. "Because I have seen the future, so I know a couple of things or two. Thanks to that, I manage to acquire an ability. Several abilities, actually. One of them allows me to establish a base and to do thing like this."

I pay the cost of repair, and everyone widen their eyes at all the stones and woods and dirt lying about begin to defy gravity. They float upwards and then skywards, filling in holes in the ceiling and walls, as if the damages were just illusion. Broken columns lift themselves upright and fuse together with floors and ceilings, becoming whole once more. Even the rusted rail lines become brand new.

Once the whole Subway Station return to its former glorious day, I smile at all the gaping faces. Before any of them can utter a word, a glowing bright light catches their attention. Catches my attention too, as it is all too familiar.

[Proving Ground Completed!] – A window appears in front of the exhausted Jessica, surprising her.

[By bringing back a person from a brink of death, you have proven yourself to have what it takes…]
