Companion.

The next morning I'm woken by the sound of my new parents getting out of bed and excitedly getting ready for something.

last night I didn't really get any meditation done as its more difficult than it looks and I may have fallen asleep after like five minutes. My bad.

My father made his way over to my crib while my mother just rested in the bed but looked much better than yesterday.

"Today is a very important day for you little guy, You see every person in the kingdom of Silverheim has the ability to purchase what we call a chaos egg for their children. Now this chaos egg is used to give you a personal battle companion who will grow up with you, fight by your side, live and die with you. Mama and papa both have battle companions." he says waving towards the window and showing me.

On the windowsill is a beautiful looking falcon but it's strangely colored green and outside the window is a massive head looking at me that I can recognize as a kind of bear but much bigger.

"Mama has a wind falcon as she has a high affinity for wind magic while papa got an earth bear. Papa is garbage at magic but great with fighter energy." he says happily walking over to the animals who sniff and look at me happily.

"Now battle companions can come in all different shapes and sizes some even come with armor and some can use magic." he explains not caring that he's talking to a baby.

After I get a big lick to the face by the earth bear and a nuzzle from the falcon he carries me off to the bed where my mother is laying and passes me over to her.

She happily coos at me making funny faces while my father runs off to a different room.

A few minutes later he returns carrying a small box and has a little needle on top of it.

he walks over and sits down on the bed picking up the needle.

"Now this may hurt a little but it's worth it for a lifetime friend." he says opening the box revealing a strange egg that's glowing a multitude of different colors.

I'm enthralled by the strange egg and feel like it's calling to me.

"as soon as the ceremony is done the egg will enter inside you and grow along with you. The world is filled with magical energy and it's absorbed into your body all hours of the day slowly strengthening it. The egg will take some of that energy and form a body suitable to be your partner. When you have your coming of age ceremony at 6 years old then your companion will also be free and they will be the closest being to you for the rest of your life. Well maybe not closer than your mother." he says laughing at his joke.

He reaches over with his giant hand and grabs my tiny baby hands and pokes one of my fingers as the blood starts to flow out he presses it onto the little glowing egg and the egg lights up before zooming into my body.

Cassie's voice rings out in my head. [Soul companion found binding to host. Currently incubating, hatch time estimated at 6 years.]

Awesome.

"You did very well." my mother says wiping then kissing my finger then my head.

"Well papa has to head of to the adventures guild for the day. Being this handsome I get a lot of requests." he says with a laugh before giving my mother a kiss and me a prickly one aswell. He grabs a giant blade that's resting against the wall and straps on his leather plate. Before heading out.

"You get to spend all day with mama little one how about i tell you some stories about the kingdom?" She asks me with a smile as I smile back.

From her I learned we live in the largest kingdom in the continent. We also have peaceful relationships with all sorts of different beings from elves to demons to even beast people which got me really excited.

The adventure guild is used for people who like to delve into dungeons or kill off stray monsters roaming around or even escort goods to keep it out of the hands of bandits.

Sometimes there are wars between kingdoms over things like mines or magical items but right now we are in peace time. Usually wars are fought by the kingdoms knights and battlemages.

There is a academy people can attend to learn magic or combat from a young age. It's a little expensive but if you graduate you can choose to become a knight or battlemage and make a decent amount of money serving in the army or get a higher rating when going to the adventures guild. Some can stay behind longer and become researchers or focus on specialized skills or just become a baker Noone forces anything on anyone.

Apparently this is one of the good kingdoms with a kind but battle hard king. Nobles are not allowed to discriminate against the poor but it still happens sometimes as people always get cocky. However prison time can be involved if either side resorts to dirty means. Most of the times it's just nobles paying fines.

The city is apparently a beautiful place the roads are well taken care of the taxes are low there aren't many homeless and the king himself donates to orphanages and gives free schooling to orphans.

All in all it seems I was born into a very good kingdom and family.
