77 Irreplaceable

Collin's foul mood didn't last long because his father accosted him the moment he arrived at home. He needed to be on his A-game while talking to him.

He didn't want to say anything on the off chance things didn't work out. Family politics could get messy in high society and he didn't want Charlotte's family to get in trouble, whether she got along with them well or not.

"Collin!" Royce barked. "How did everything go?"

"I would say it was a success."

"Are you engaged then?"

"No but I have my eye on someone. That was your intention, wasn't it?"

"You do? Who is she? Which family is she from? I'm going to need to speak to her father and begin making arrangements for a merger," Royce said in a dignified tone.

"I don't want to tell you until I've gotten an answer," Collin replied honestly. "Do you mind waiting about a week?"

"Time is of the essence, Collin!"

"A week won't make a difference in the grand scheme of things."
