A Loaded Question

Laney wouldn't go as far as adoration but Richard was very solicitous of her. That much was obvious at this point.

She didn't want to lie to Olivia but the truth would hurt her more. She was staying with Richard now and would be trying to live as a real married couple. There was no reason to bring up the former contractual nature of things now that it was basically void.

"He's lost it," Laney agreed without elaborating.

"Honestly! What's wrong with him? How could he blame all of this on you? It has nothing to do with you," Olivia said in disgust.

Guilt welled up inside of her because it had more to do with her than Olivia thought. The two of them may have been having problems anyway but it was overhearing that conversation she had with Elle that pushed Greg over the edge.

"People can do crazy things when they're stressed," Laney said with a great sense of irony.
