Unpleasant Reflection

AU: Sorry for the extended hiatus. I wanted to come back with two chapters instead of just this one as the next chapter pushes the plot a bit but it would take me a another week to write it so I decided to go ahead and push this one out. I just got a stomach virus so please bear with me as I try and push out this next chapter.

Thanks for reading and let me know of any concerns!

Kakashi doesn't respond to that statement. He's sure it is pleasant to meet him for her. Those eyes of her tell him that she's thinking of something. Her bland face and impassive look did nothing to get rid of the emotion in her eye. In fact, it only made it show more.

"Isn't there anything you want to say to that?" Seems she didn't like the silent treatment.

He isn't sure what to say to that. He thought the reason they locked him away was because no one wanted to see him.

"No." He rasps involuntarily. He wants water but won't ask her for it.

Her eyes narrow and she slowly takes her time walking about the bed, never taking her eyes off him. He makes sure that his eyes never leave her. If this is the president of the Hero Commission he was definitely in some deep shit and they know about what he'd done. He should've hid it better, maybe, he didn't know if he regrets it or not.

"Hmm, you're a lot more quiet than I thought you'd be, boy. Is that because you can no longer use your quirk?"

Well now he knew why she had that look on her face, as if she was in control. Kakashi was deciding between if he wanted to out her on it and tell her that it wasn't because of that or simply use that as an advantage to him. Thinking about that for even a second made the choice obvious.

He made an obvious face of anger and was relived to see her take the bait.

A smile graces her bland face and it makes him a bit sick. The smile is disgusting. She stops at the foot of his bed after turning around to recirle around his bed. She reaches down and he thinks she's about to touch him and commits himself to killing her when nothing comes close to his body at all. She reaches down briefly and comes up with a clipboard.

She's quite as she scrolls though it. Then she hums and settles her gaze on him.

"You already had various scars before you were discovered. I'd like to know where they came from."

Kakashi continues to stare, she thinks it's in defiance and a smirk domes to her face. A smirk that tells him she's up to no good.

"Fine, if you want to play it like that, so be it."

His hand twitches again when she circles his bed again, coming to his left side, where the heart monitor stood. The beep minutely escalates.

"Just because you are conscious doesn't mean you will survive. I saw what you did out there. You could've escaped, but you didn't. You knew you would've died otherwise. You're smart for your age, but I want that for myself. Work for me."

Despite his poker face, the heart monitor only picked up, conveying what he truly felt. He couldn't leave. He couldn't die. He promised Obito that he would protect Rin. He hadn't done a thing! He couldn't die!

But he couldn't be manipulated either.

He couldn't. His talent was for Konoha to use, not for this world; this woman to control.

"Answer me." In her lifted hand, she held the plug that was keeping him alive. Apparently, he was on life support. But would he really die. His chakra was admittedly low, but it was enough to sustain his life or he would've already died.

The cord tightened, leaving no more slack. Just a single pull would—

"Answer!"

The white sheet crumbles beneath his clenched fist.

Her arm moves back toward her.

"I'll work for you!" He says quickly. She stops, and smirks.

"Good, it seems you know your place, boy."

Decapitation was high on his list on ways to kill her when his body healed. Though sowing her mouth shut didn't sound bad either. The fucking smirk was pissing him off.

The cord drops to the ground from her open palm. His face hadn't moved but underneath the cover his hand is digging into his palm. The pain keeps him from trying to attack her as she walks slowly back to standing at the foot of his bed.

"Now, you are expected to be fully operational in a month or so. I expect you to act like you have some sense, boy. Even if I can't threaten your life after that time, I can still threaten your Mother's career. You wouldn't want that, would you?"

Wait, what? Was she serious? Kakashi could almost laugh if it wouldn't hurt to exhale and inhale so rapidly. Did she think he cared about that woman enough to risk his freedom over? He was going to escape, that wasn't a question. He was only deciding if he was going to kill her for trying to blackmail him. He wasn't typically petty but he was breed for withholding information and keep from being caught. Her words also irked him.

The way she oozed with superiority when he could kill her in several dozen ways would never fail to irk him.

"That's right, you wouldn't. And that's why you'll be taking orders from me and me only. You have no more free will, child. You're only task is to do what I say, when I say it, and how fast I say go."

He wonders how bad it would hurt if he just used his nails and a small bit of chakra to stab her in the throat.

"And don't even think of escaping before then. You are near the top of 10 stories filled with armed personnel. We have cameras that will see if you even attempt to scratch your ass and specialized team will come for through checks of any weaponry you could try to make out of any of the equipment. They will also be escorting medical personnel any time they check up on you and your vitals will be for all to see and know. If your heart rate gets too high our team will assume you are doing extra activity and bring you down. All aspect of your life is for us to control. Right now, you are nothing but a rapid dog that will be put on a leash."

She turns, walking to the door. She stops just as the opening opens and glances back at him.

"You have tomorrow to start talking. I want a detailed description of your quirk and any other skills you possess."

With that, she leaves him in total darkness.

Only the glow of his uncovered eye remains.

"Yes, I'm fine. I know. Love you too, Mom. I'll see you in a bit, ok? Please don't cry."

Midoriya sighs and sets down his phone after hanging up. His first contact with his mother since the incident had gone by with a lot of tears and a lot of scares his young heart wasn't able to take. He had to wipe away so many tears that his hand felt moist even now.

'Wonder if I can have a towel or something.' He thinks.

The door to his room opens, taking his attention, and he sees All Might step through the door, in full form.

He blinks rapidly in shock. "All Might!"

"Kid!" All Might was practically at his bed side in a second, severely taking him off guard. He reverted into his fragile form midway and frail bones covered his form a single second later.

"Kid, I-I am so glad you are all right. I am here." His voice was so soothing and soft that tears flooded his eyes before he could even think and he gripped the fragile man like a lifeline.

"A-All Might..."

He breathes of sigh of relief at seeing his teacher.

Suddenly, he's being shaken violently.

"What we're you thinking running off like that, young Midoriya?! Gran Torino told me everything, you could've been killed!"

"I-I'm sorry, All Might! I just... I saw horrible things and I just didn't know what to do but go."

All Might had stopped shaking him but still firmly held his shoulders, his dull eyes staring directly into his own eyes.

"Young Midoriya, listen. Your time is fast approaching. You are not yet ready. You are not ready to be a hero or use One for All yet. You must be patient and wait until..."

"I don't think I should be waiting, All Might." The Hero of Legend's eyes widen as Midoriya whispers that, his head down, staring at the clean white covers provided for him.

"W-what do you mean?" Slowly, his grip loosens.

Midoriya always had questions running through his head, but now most that were running through his head were unsure. He no longer knew what to do. He knew that what Shiguraki said was something he meant. That he would trample Hero Society to its feet. And if doing so was about ruining the pinnacle of their society; UA, then he succeeded the moment Kakashi, a student of UA, killed a Villain for all to see.

"The Villains are going to attack someone in my class again. They're going to use Kakashi to inspire other Villains and do something that will..."

He stops speaking when the grip tightens on his shoulder, causing him to wince. Blood slides down All Might's chin but he doesn't even notice it. Midoriya had no idea his teacher could have this amount of strength even in this form.

"Young Midoriya, I see that you've thought about this a lot. But I beg of you to leave this to me; to all the Pros who are able and ready for anything that the League of Villains may try to dish out. Believe in the heroes that have protected people for many years. They won't win. That is a promise."

Midoriya finds it hard to hold his gaze, finds it hard to accept that he had to leave it to others. The victims he's seen from the Nomu, Stain, and Blade flash in his mind. He wants to scream. It's scary. He doesn't want to see it anymore, but the images don't want to go away. They guilt is still eating at him. He just can't let go of it.

But he won't say that.

"...yes, All Might." He says, lowering his head.

"Honestly, what hard headed buffoon you turned out to be."

Teacher and student turn equally in surprise to the new speaker only to see the man that has taught them both. Still in hero gear, Gran Torino closes the door behind him and walks toward the bed.

"I would hit you if not for all the injuries you have, my boy. What the hell were you thinking doing something so reckless?"

"Gran Torino," Midoriya mutters.

"Teacher, I-" All Might tries to begin but interrupts himself with a scream when his ear is pulled on rather harshly.

"But I can still punish you for having such a reckless student!" Gran Torino says, further stretching his ear.

"Ow! Ow! Ow! Ok, I get it!" His ear's let go and he rubs it as his teacher walks past him to get a good look at Midoriya.

"Seems they are doing a good job." He had a rather impressed look on his face. "Fixing up idiots isn't easy. I know that for a fact."

U-Um," Midoriya fumbles nervously, fidgeting and constantly looking away. "I-"

"Save it. We'll talk another time about this. Just heal up, kid." The old man sighs and turns to All Might. "I agree with you when you say that he needs to live the hero work to the pros, but he does need to here what we should discuss."

All Might looked unsure and nervous. Midoriya hadn't seen that genuine emotion from his hero ever. "Are you sure?"

A nod. "Yes." He quickly looks back at Midoriya. "Pay attention, boy."

"Y-yessir."

"It's time we tell you about All for One."

Despite the gloomy, slow day, security present was active and moving. They were searching and watching closely for even a sign of danger. Bakugo had never seen so many heroes gathered in one place like this before. While it was troublesome as it only caused even more people to show up just to try and get a picture with their favorite hero. What jackasses they were. Who the hell would do that at a funeral? It was obvious they had no shame or home training.

"Dammit, took you two long enough." Finally, after waiting for longer than he'd wanted to wait, Kirishima and Mina finally show up. "And speed the hell up and stop walking! I'm not a damn taxi!"

"Jeez, take a chill pill." Mina grumbles.

"Yea, security's tight, man. They were really touchy." Kirishima rubs his head as he sweat drops. They were very thorough in their searches. He didn't know if that was a good thing or not.

"Tch, whatever. Let's go, clowns,"

Stomping past them, he makes sure to give them the stink eye. He hates waiting when he doesn't need to. Naturally, he takes the lead, walking in front of the two as he tries to get his way around massive crowds without showing his face too much. It would defeat the purpose of having worn a hat. Still, getting around these people without getting pushed into was impossible and was getting very annoying. Part of him was considering blowing the idiots out of his way.

He had a rational side though.

Damn that.

He stops, his phone buzzing in his pocket. He instantly pulls it out and takes the call. "Hello? Who's this?"

"Bakugo, watch the link I'm about to send you." That voice sounded familiar.

"Huh? Wait, Icy-Hot? Is that you? How the hell did you get my phone number, huh?!"

"Just watch it." After that, he hears the phone beep its last and he pulls it away from his ear.

"The fuck?" He questions, looking at it. He pauses when a new message pops up. It's a link.

"Hey, what's going on, man?" Kirishima and Mina walk up and look over his shoulder to see. For once, he doesn't move them.

He's confused. It's the video from Kakashi's fight and yet, it's more violent than what he could remember. Sure it was bloody, but what he was seeing wasn't how it was. Something was different and he couldn't place his hand on it.

An invisible force brought his head up. All around him were people staring at their phones. All the phones containing the same video he was watching.

"What the fuck?"

Streets were nearly empty. She was one of the only walking them. Almost none drove past her and almost none were walking the streets. Just her. The mass funeral celebration was happening in the next town over in the small city in between major cities and Hosu.

Having lived in big cities all her life, she did find it a bit weird but it was because she wasn't used to it. There was barely any noise at all. A few cares, a few billboards, but no cursing, no swearing, and no obnoxious people. She couldn't she missed those sounds if she were being honest.

She tucks more of her trench coat around her as if it isn't full around her already as a swift breeze makes her shudder. It's been raining the last couple of days. Luck was on her side that today happened to be less rainy than usual. She didn't own an umbrella and all her hoodies needed washing. Her hair would've gotten soaked.

Without her gear own and walking about with her head down, no one walking the streets recognized her. A relief to her nerves that hadn't been able to settle since Hosu's Disaster. Still, she never fully could rest. Thinking about Kakashi was all too stressful.

Finally, she reached her destination. A diner in the heart of city. With a cold breath, she walks inside and her nose is greeted with a wonderful scent. This was one of the only places in Japan that offered American breakfast. American breakfast in her home city was cheap and something she would eat often alongside Japanese traditional. Most didn't have a taste for it but she could never rid herself of hers.

"You've been ogling for a while, dear. Are you hungry?"

She blinks, turning to her left and sees a older woman with a smile that looked so genuine, as if she were glad to see her. She hadn't had that look directed at her for a while. It was nice.

Her cheeks grow hot. "Ah, well, a little bit. I'm waiting on a friend though."

Her face brightened. "Ah," she says giddily. "Would your friend happen to be that fine gentleman over there?" She points over to the man she's looking for; Detective Tsukauchi who looks away and sips his coffee, obviously embarrassed. But who wouldn't with how loud she was. Her voice practically echoed.

"Well, yes." She barely got the word out as the woman clashed her hands so suddenly that she would think that this woman had some sort of super speed.

"Despite him being a bit on the boring side, he's a fine gentleman! You're in good hands, young lady!" She was getting the wrong idea, wasn't she?

She forced a smile on her lips. "Oh, well, he's just a co-worker. Um, we aren't dating."

Her mouth formed a perfect o and she slapped her on her back. "Not yet, I see. That's too bad. Please take your seat while I'll go get you some coffee."

"Ah, um, thank you."

Awkwardly, she walked to the table and sat down silently.

It took a moment for a conger to pick up.

"Well, she's lively." Ryukyu chuckled.

A smile stretched across his face as he looked down at his half way gone cup of coffee. "She is. She's been running this place for 30 years."

Wow, she hadn't even been a hero that long.

He cleared his throat, pulls out a folder filled to the brim with paperwork, and sets it beside his cup. Kakashi's name is on it, but it's in hand writing instead of something a computer would churn out. She found herself staring at it.

"Let's get down to business. Everyone is at the funeral, so we should be uninterrupted and undisturbed."

She nodded. "Right."

He opened up the folder and, as if he fully knew where it was, pulled out a paper she recognized instantly. It was her certification of her parenthood over Kakashi, something she had possession of.

"This is nothing more than an unofficial copy. The real one is still with you." He says, seeing the look on her face. "It hasn't been a month since you signed off on this. When Kakashi goes to court, and you come with him as defense, this will become one of their main selling points in the court taking him away from you. You'll have to prove that he isn't a danger and that he can be controlled."

She didn't like the sound of that.

Her face must've showed it, because he sighed. "I know it makes him sound like some type of wild animal, but that is what he's being seen as. A wild animal needs to be tamed or they will be put away or put down. The commission won't put a child down but he will be put away. We have to accept that or we won't be able to win."

"Ok." She agreed reluctantly. "But what's the plan going to be?"

"Well, first, we'll have to get him go on board with this. He has to fake it, and pretend that he felt that there was no other choice and that he felt he couldn't get out of there without killing him. That's the only way."

"But, but, he started the fight by striking his heart." She pointed out. "They're going to use that to argue against us."

"You're right. But, our tactic remains the same. It's not guaranteed but there are sympathizers among the masses. All we have to do is make a good case and we should be able to stretch the trial out for as long as possible. We can also use the injuries of the other students to our advantage. To the masses they were all just heroes in training at UA. We can say he felt threatened because of their injuries and simply chose to struck when he thought he could."

"But even then... it's not guaranteed, right?"

He sighed. "No, it's not. But it's better than putting up no argument at all. At the very least, it'll buy us much needed time."

She sighed herself, feeling exhaustion creeping into her skin and her worry increase. This was their plan. The plan to save Kakashi.

She would stick with it, but first she had to get authorization to meet him.

Tucked away in a building not far from the funeral grounds, two individuals stood in a room with boy lit by a single computer screen. Showing the battle that had gone down in Hosu.

But, this was not for research or analysis. It was for them to achieve one goal and one goal only.

"It's been sent to every computer screen in the known area, sir."

"Good, we can't have that boy show us up after all. Now, it's time I introduce myself like a gentleman to these fine folks." He feels giddy. He won't let some kid show him up.

He had barely any new views on his video. All the media could talk about was Kakashi Hatake. The boy was everywhere, and took his fame out of nowhere. He had no doubt that the boy had been planning this all along. And since he wanted to take his fame by any means, he would also have to take the infamy along with it.

"But, Gentle, I don't think this is a good idea." His partner looked sick to her stomach. Part of him felt bad. "I mean, there's a lot of heroes down there. What if you get captured?"

He gave her a confident smile, to assure her. "Do not worry." His hand landed softly on her head. "I have a plan. There's a lot of terrain for me to work with. I'll be the only villain to attack this funeral and I'll go down famously for it! My channel with skyrocket with views!"

"I-I'll just be on standby... just in case."

He hadn't even heard what she last said because of all his laughter.
