Mark got back to the classroom and found his way to his seat

He couldn't believe what James told him

"no it can't be" Mark said as he scratched his head

Soon, a teacher walked in as she was greeted, bringing Mark back from his thoughts

"I know that you guys would have been enjoying the free period all this while but I want to disturb you today" the teacher as she dropped her books on one of the desks before her

"we will be looking into our previous topics because it's revision period" the teacher added as she started writing something on the board

Just then, James, Phillip and Becky took permission and walked inside

Mark was just forming in anger

James saw that and smiled

At the same time winked at him before sitting down

He could no longer concentrate in the class

He just had to excused himself and went out

James saw that and smiled again

Rita in the other hand noticed it

Her eyes went straight to Mikhail who was just looking at James

Mikhail noticed that Rita was looking at him through the way her shadow reflected on the wall

He turned and caught eyes with Rita who withdrew a little

She looked at Mikhail again while he gave him a sign with his eyes bending his head left and right

Rita didn't get him as she widened her eyes

Mikhail then used his fingers to assist his head as he pointed it at the door

Rita nodded meaning she understood it

She waited for some secs before taking excuse and went out

She knew where Mark must be as she rushed to the hall but unfortunately, Mark wasn't there

"where could he be?" Rita asked herself as she turned and there, was Mark standing at the door post

"have the teacher left?" Mark asked since Rita seems to be lost

"no, I was just worried why you left the class when you were the one who loves classes a lot" Rita replied maintaining a strong stand

"oh, I couldn't just stand their presence" Mark said as he walked in properly, passed Rita and found his way to the desk in the hall

"that's one thing you have to learn" Rita responded turning around to face him

"how do you mean?" Mark asked

"They are your competitors, so you have learn how to stand them, if not, they will always use their presence as your weak point" Rita replied

Mark couldn't believe it

He never thought that such lady would ever existed

"you sound so different" Mark found his voice

"I always stand for truth" Rita responded smiling

Mark had to smile back

Later after dismissal, everybody went home as usual but James and his gang didn't

as they were hanging around the compound

"I still don't understand you" Becky said as they sat under a tree

"that's one thing about me, you can never understand me" James responded instead

Phillip and Becky were just confused of the type of guy he was

"But my plan is always perfect when it comes out" James added

"if you weren't able to have your way with her when you were opportuned, how then will you be able to do so?" Becky asked really angry with what James did

she always get angry whenever he remembered that

"my plan has changed" James responded smiling a bit

"how??" Phillip and Becky chorused

"am no longer intending on winning her heart and makes Mark jealous but my intention now is to make her mine forever"

"I want to cherish her, I saw her in my dreams, I couldn't believe it, she told me that she loves me and I could it in her eyes" James added

"that's malaria, how could you even think of falling for her?" Phillip asked

"I thought I would use you and get back at her, she owe me a lot" Becky said

while James started laughing

"what's funny?" Philip asked in confusion

"I was actually joking around, I can't just fall for her" James lied just to maintain them

maybe they might help in getting Lucy

James found himself falling for her

They were still discussing when Mark walked out from the class

James stood up from where he was and rushed to stand before Mark

"only God knows what is in you guys mind this time around" Mark said immediately James stopped him

although didn't make any statement

"if there would be something am planning, haven't I achieved it" James laughed

Mark turned to where James before he came out

His mind rushed back in the hall earlier in the day just when he saw Becky

"you?" Mark said pointing at Becky

"don't even go there, she has been begging me to delete those pictures I took when I slept with Lucy, she said that Lucy would die if she gets to see it" James tried covering Becky because he still need Becky in the game

and for that to benefit him, he had to make anything possible for her to be close with Lucy

"you still got mind to snap pictures?" Mark asked as his face changed really angry

"yes, what will you do?" James asked back laughing

Mark couldn't control his anger any longer as he gave James an unexpected punch

James staggered back spitting out bloods

Mark could feel his veins draw a little

"This punch will cost you two, remember, this is a game, no secrets must be leaked out" James said instead of fighting back

That night, James was in the living room just thinking on his next plan but no idea was helping

He stood up and walked around the living room scratching his head continuously

Sometimes, he would take a look at Lucy's picture which he recently changed to his wallpaper

He was lost looking at it

"does it mean I was right?" that was Mrs Sharon voice from the back making James to turn sliding his phone back inside his pocket

"what's it Mom?" James asked turning around and pretended

"remember, I gave birth to you, so don't think of outsmarting me". Mrs Sharon said as she walked down because she was still at the step

James eyes rushed to her foot and smiled

"you even came footless" James said laughing thinking that it might help

"better stop deceiving yourself with laughter and tell me what I want to hear" Mrs Sharon said making James to stop laughing

What he always wanted was just to keep his feelings a secret but his mother wasn't an easy person

she would surely like to get what she wants

"so" Mrs Sharon added raising one of her eyes

"maybe you were right" James responded as he went to sit on a couch close to him

"I always" Mrs Sharon said smiling as she sat opposite James

"it can't be always" James

"so tell me, what happened?" Mrs Sharon asked

"it's my own personal life Mom" James said standing up

he meant to walk away

"Just make sure you win since it has gotten to this" Mrs Sharon said

James stopped

"you gave me this method, it's better you start preparing another trick" James said and walked up making Mrs Sharon to smiled shaking her head

"I got your back because this game might help me clear this doubt" Mrs Sharon later murmured

The following morning,

Lucy woke up really weak

she managed to walk to her bathroom as usual

she remembered Mark's sweet words the previous night as she splashed water on her face

She couldn't stop smiling

"I love you Mark" she said still smiling

her mind ran to James

"does it mean that he really don't care, he couldn't ask of me at least through Becky" Lucy added but waved it off

Soon, a knock came to her door

"why so soon?" she said as she walked to the door

she first of all directed her eyes to her wall clock

"what! How could I slept like that, 8am" she said it was already late for school because the delay that involves in her changing and she hasn't taken her breakfast

she finally opened the door when the knock came in again

It was Mrs Kat

"Good morning Mom" Lucy greeted

"Good morning, how is your health?" Mrs Kat asked as she found her way in

"I guess getting better" Lucy replied closing the door

"but Mom why aren't you going to work?" Lucy added asking

"how do you expect me to go when you are sick?" Mrs Kat returned the question

"I know you won't go today" Mrs Kat added

That same morning, Mark arrived so early hoping to see Lucy but there was no sign of her

Mark became worried because when he was discussing with Lucy the previous night, she didn't complain anything like James having his way on her and Mark didn't bring it up either because it was their game

Mikhail walked in almost immediately

He tapped Mark on his shoulder since he was standing ever since he arrived

"oh" Mark simply said and turned

"you seems worried" Mikhail said but Mark held him as they walked out of the class

James was almost up when he saw them walking to the hall

He suspected their move as he walked after them but maintained a distance

Mark and Mikhail got in

"why are you acting like this?" Mikhail asked immediately they walked in

Meanwhile, James stood behind the wall and was listening to their conversation

"I think James really do what he said" Mark said

"how do you know? Because I trust Lucy, she wouldn't" Mikhail asked

"she haven't been to school since two days now ,do you think it's something ordinary?" Mark returned the question

"I think so but what are you planning?" Mikhail asked

"am planning on going to her house after school" Mark replied

"I think it will help" Mikhail said nodding his head

"good plan, I have to go before him" James said to himself and disappeared from where he was

Lucy was in the sitting room watching TV when the door bell rang followed by a knock on the door

She wasn't expecting anyone but she doesn't know for her Mom

She went and opened the door

behold it was James

she was beyond shocked

she was about to say something when her mother interfere

"who is that?" Mrs Kat asked walking down

James used the opportunity to force himself inside

"good afternoon Ma" James greeted bending down a little

"young man, who are you?" Mrs Kat asked

the last thing she would accept was a male being visiting her daughter

"she's my classmate, and she haven't been to school since two days now, so I decided to come and check on her" James replied

"I was actually the one who called her driver on her birthday when I discovered that she was drunk" James added trying to gain favor for himself

"oh, you are James?" Mrs Kat asked remembering when Lucy mentioned his name

"exactly" James replied not sure of what might be next

"wow, please have a seat" Mrs Kat said smiling all of a sudden

James smiled back and made himself comfortable on the couch

"you are always welcome in this house anytime" Mrs Kat added

just then, the door bell rings

James knew who it must be, smiled

Lucy stood up and walked to the door

She opened it and it was Mark

Mark was shocked seeing James there already winking at him

Everybody was shocked except James who was busy smiling
