Prologue

"REMember, it's in four days," Hendrix spoke into the phone as he took his coat from his secretary, Robert, and draped it over his shoulder.

"Of course, sir, I would be there by Friday as soon as I get the address," The designer replied.

"My assistant would email it to you," he said before handing the phone over to Robert, giving him a 'you know what to do' stare as he got into the passenger seat of the Rolls-Royce parked in front of the Louis Vuitton store. Robert quickly took his place in the seat next to the driver.

Hendrix took another look at the 7-carat diamond ring he had purchased for his beautiful bride-to-be, Josephine. She deserved more than this, for being by his side all these years and finally saying yes to him. He loved her more than ever and was very willing to spoil her with love and material things.

"Wonderful choice for a wedding ring, sir," Robert complimented.

"I know, Robert," he smiled, enclosing the ring case and slipping it into his coat pocket.

"Take me back to the hotel, our work here is done,"

"Err-rr, the hotel?" Robert stuttered.

"Yes, is there a problem?"

"Absolutely not, sir," Robert grinned.

With that order, his driver turned on the ignition and headed towards the hotel. Hendrix took note of all the lovely places built on the streets of New York; he had planned on showing them all to Josephine soon after their honeymoon. She had suggested that it was best they got married during autumn in New York because her parents wedded here, and he had no objections. She was the only person that made sense to him, the person he had that was worth living for.

The car finally pulled into the garage of the fine suite where they were lodged, and Hendrix got off the vehicle, dismissing his driver and secretary as he planned to spend the evening with his fiancée.

Grinning, he stepped into the hotel, getting into the elevator with a broad smile as he got closer, picturing her already waiting for him and wrapping him in the warmth of her hugs.

He finally got to his destination and grabbed the doorknob but halted afterward. He leaned closer a bit as the dreadful sounds of moans, stimulated by intercourse, filled his ears.

Tightening his grip on the doorknob, he swiped the key card and flung the door open to see his Josephine underneath a naked masculine figure with her legs wrapped around his back. Clothes and underwear were scattered across the room as they didn't seem to notice the door.

"You bl•ody whore!" Hendrix thundered, and the startled culprits broke their physical connection, Josephine covering her body with the white sheets. His heart sank deeply when he saw the man she was with.

Shutting his eyes tightly and clenching his fists, he asked, "Tobias, what are you doing here?"

"Brother, I can explain."

"Why didn't you close the f•cking door?" Josephine cursed, her eyes tearing up.

"He has the key card!"

Hendrix shifted his gaze from his elder brother to her; he didn't know how to react or what to do. His emerald green eyes stared intently at her as if they could pierce her soul. She quickly wrapped the sheets around her and rushed towards him, kneeling as she grabbed his leg.

Hendrix gazed at this woman, the person he was to marry, series of emotions going through his head as he tried to figure out what to do with her or his deranged brother. Of course, he didn't trust Tobias, but he loved her with his life; she was his first priority, the person he miserably loved like an insane man.

"Babe, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to. It was a terrible mistake. I love you, Hexie, more than anything else in the world, I—"

"The wedding's off. When I get back, I don't want to see you here," he hissed, forcefully pulling his leg from her as she fell to the floor, violently sobbing. Hendrix paid no attention but looked at his brother, "You can have her, after all…you're both pigs."

With that, he took his leave, still trying to stay sane until he got to the garage.

His driver quickly rushed to him, "Would you like to take it for a drive, sir?"

"Give me the keys," he growled, stretching out his hands.

His driver quickly handed them over to him without hesitation, and Hendrix got in, starting the car and driving off to cool his head.

"Damn it!" he cursed, furiously slamming his hands on the steering wheel as he simultaneously broke down in tears. "Of all things, Tobias. It just had to be her," he whispered as he blinked twice to clear his vision. He should've gotten used to betrayal by now as it wasn't new to him, but it was Josephine, the only light in his cruel dark world, and she dared to do this to him. Just like everyone else.

He drove down a long, lonely path as he didn't want to see any living human to remind me of his dreadful contact with them; the sun was already setting quietly, and the night slowly crept in. Hendrix opened the car window to breathe properly as his tears dried up with a cold gush of wind.

Suddenly, a bright light flashed on the surface of his vehicle, and he quickly identified it as a truck speeding toward him. As the truck emerged, Hendrix frantically stomped on the brakes, only to find they had been cut.

"No, not now!" he cried, stomping repeatedly on the brakes like they would suddenly resurrect. In the blink of an eye, the truck collided with his vehicle, and the impact sent his vehicle careening off the road and into a ditch, tumbling and rolling before crashing into a tree.

As the world spun around him, Hendrix gasped for breath and felt the throbbing pain from his injuries. Amidst the wreckage, he found his car door had been torn open, and he crawled from the wreckage, determined to find salvation before succumbing to his wounds and a possible death.
