Ryuu's Pov

As I saw Vega's attack coming in front of me I increased the rate and density of my redirecting cloak. Currently, my entire body was covered by a purple glow.

The attack hit me as it did I tried my hardest to redirect it toward the ground but in the end, I failed and it exploded.

But it didn't stop there as after the explosion a ball the size of a cannon ball hit me. Shredding through my protective layer it started to pierce through my stomach.

I tried my best to minimize the damage and the ground underneath me was cracked.

Finally, the energy ball dissipated but I was left with a gaping hole in my stomach.

Bleg, I vomited blood due to the wounds I suffered. God damm it hurts like hell. This is the highest amount of damage I have suffered in my entire life.

As the dust settled I looked at Vega who was giving me an evil smile.

General Pov

Looking at the gaping hole in Ryuu's stomach the children couldn't help but cry out.

"Senseiiii"

They were trying to run toward him but Ryuu turned in their direction with a smile on his face while still having a serious look he said," You guys stay there and Ramiris quickly close the Labyrinth door."

Hearing his voice Ramiris woke up from her shock and said, "Buu, But"

"No buts, quickly CLOSE THE LABYRINTH DOOR!!!" he said while raising his voice in the middle of the sentence.

"Yes," said Ramiris after hearing his raised voice and the door started to close.

"HAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHH"

Looking at their interaction Vega couldn't help but laugh. It is one of his greatest joys in life to trample on the weak and show them their place. Another thing he takes joy in is making the strong who try to protect the weak see how wrong they were and that those weak could be only baggage.

So getting the opportunity to do both and to a person who almost killed him it was a euphoric moment for Vega.

"HAHAHAH, Like I will let you?!" Vega shouted and disappeared from his place and appeared in front of Ryuu.

Before he could react Vega kicked Ryuu in the head and send him flying sideways.

As the door was closing Vega saw the kids shivering in fear but one of them was showing no such sign only concern. Looking at the girl who wasn't fearing him Vega couldn't help but give an evil smirk and was about to attack them.

When suddenly Ryuu came to his side and gave him a flame-infused kick in the head sending him flying.

"Same to you," Ryuu said and then gave a quick look to the kids and charged at Vega.

Vega quickly balance himself and punched the incoming Ryuu. Ryuu blocked the punch but was struck by Vega in the stomach near his wound.

Suffering such an attack he vomited blood again then Vega grabbed his hand and threw him toward the trees.

BAAAM

As he hit the tree the tree broke down and Ryuu was laying on the ground taking deep breaths.

"HAHAH, Give up all your efforts are futile after all I Vega have killed all the enemies I have faced," Vega said while approaching him slowly. As for the reason why Vega didn't continue his attack, it's simple he wants Ryuu to face despair.

'Oh I was fighting Vega till now, Good to know' Ryuu thought. His brain has been trying to think random stuff so as to not focus on the pain he was currently facing.

As Vega approached him Ryuu tried to give a good punch to Vega but he was able to dodge.

After dodging that Vega returned the favor by striking him and Ryuu dodged that punched but was hit by another punch of Vega.

Ryuu could have flown back to lessen the effect of the punch but he didn't do that instead gave a kick to Vega's face.

As the attack connected he increased the heat of the flames covering the leg by a great amount.

Booom

With that Vega stumbled back a little and his face was covered by a white flame. The flame quickly burned Vega's skin and started to burn his facial muscles.

"AAAAGGG," Shouting in pain Vega punched Ryuu in the face sending him flying and quickly started to remove the flames from his face.

But instead of the flame dying out it spread through his body burning it.

'AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA' he screamed as the flame burned his body.

Thinking of a way to remove the flames Vega quickly made a magicule skin throughout his body using Release.

Then he quickly separated it from his body and the fire peeled off with it.

As for Ryuu getting hit by Vega's attack he quickly balance himself and vomited blood.

Looking at the burning Vega Ryuu quickly took this as an opportunity and pumped more energy into True Regeneration to stop the bleeding of his wound.

As Vega removed the flames he was currently only flesh as all his skin was burned away.

Vega looked at Ryuu with increased hatred in return Ryuu gave him a smirk.

With that, both of them charged at each other.

Fighting against an enraged Vega, Ryuu who was already injured was clearly at a disadvantage.

In fact, he could barely block or dodge Vega's punches. Getting pummeled by Vega he started to suffer from more injuries.

After an excruciating half an hour for Ryuu, he was sent flying by Vega near the Labyrinth door.

Before he could smash into the door he quickly balanced himself. Taking deep breaths he looked at the charging Vega.

"HAHAH, Just give up already and die," Vega said while continuing to do his barrage of attacks.

Ryuu didn't give a reply but continued to block his attack. After taking so much damage in such a small time and not being used to it Ryuu's mind was struggling to keep him sane.

He is currently defending purely on instinct which he builds while fighting Shizu and other monsters.

"You and all those kids are going to die anyway so just give up," Vega said as to demoralize Ryuu and it seem like he had succeeded.

As Ryuu began to falter and his body and mind started to have the thought of dying.

'Perhaps it is ok to give up' he thought under the watchful and concerned eyes of True Sage.

It seems like the battle is coming to an end.
