CHAPTER 42

Next to the three gravestones, a grave had already been dug in advance.

The beaten and barely conscious officer, Chyre, was thrown into the pit by Plunder.

"We've arrived, Officer. Just as I promised, I'm sending you to meet your partner."

Plunder had somehow acquired a shovel and began filling the hole with soil, preparing to bury Chyre alive.

"I'll bury you next to your partner, so you can keep each other company even in hell. No need to thank me."

Chyre gritted his teeth, wanting to struggle to get up, but the next moment, Plunder's shovel ruthlessly struck him.

He was already in his fifties, and his aging body could no longer bear such abuse.

After being repeatedly attacked by Plunder, Chyre's vision blurred.

"In my world, you're just a madman, constantly trying to kill me. Now, it's finally my turn."

A sinister grin appeared on Plunder's face as he adjusted the angle of the shovel and swung it downward towards Chyre's head.

Reluctantly, Chyre closed his eyes, waiting for death to come.

He had been a police officer for decades, had three different partners including Morillo, and now all of them had left him.

Perhaps there really was some kind of curse on Chyre.

"Hmm?"

Plunder swung the shovel down forcefully, but Chyre was not hit.

Did he miss?

No, Plunder was confident in his accuracy. Once he identified the target, even closing his eyes wouldn't cause him to miss.

Suddenly, Plunder felt that the shovel in his hand had become much lighter. He looked down and realized that the shovel had been broken in half at some point.

He was only holding a wooden handle, and there were obvious burn marks where it had snapped.

The shovel head had fallen to the ground beside his feet.

"If you truly want to kill him, a bullet would be much easier than this. Torturing an old man is not something a mid-tier criminal in Central City would do."

At that moment, a unfamiliar voice came from behind Plunder.

Plunder narrowed his eyes and swiftly drew a special handgun, then, in a lightning-fast motion, turned around and fired a shot in the direction of the voice.

The speed was incredibly fast, to the point that Plunder didn't even get a clear look at the person speaking. He had already pulled the trigger and fired the bullet.

The whole process flowed like water, quick and smooth. An ordinary person would have no time to react.

Indeed, when the bullet was fired, the person who spoke remained motionless in the same spot, as if completely unaware of Plunder's sudden attack.

Immediately after, Plunder finally saw the face of the other person, and his pupils contracted instantly.

He saw a humanoid creature, nearly two meters tall, within his field of vision. This creature had a body with four limbs, covered in red molten skin.

Its facial features were more like a hollowed-out mask with openings for eyes and a mouth. Looking into those hollows, one could see its entire head resembling burning flames.

From the top of its head, a blazing fire could be seen burning, and to some extent, that might be considered its "hair."

Plunder's bullet undoubtedly hit this strange creature, but before the bullet even touched its skin, it evaporated due to the intense heat emanating from its body.

This mysterious creature was none other than Yuri transformed into Heatblast.

Heatblast, belonging to the Pyronite species, had the obvious ability to control fire. It could unleash almost unlimited fire energy and was not fatally affected by water. It could even breathe underwater.

"Damn old bastard, I didn't expect your police department to hide such a superhuman."

Plunder clearly misunderstood something. He quickly turned the barrel of his gun towards Chyre in the pit, threatening Yuri.

"Bullets might not work against you, Flaming something, but he's different. So i need you to get out of my sight now, or else..."

To Plunder's surprise, Yuri not only dismissed his threat, but also turned the tables and questioned him.

"I was quite far away just now, and I didn't hear clearly, so I want to confirm. Did you say you're from another world? Can I understand you as an interdimensional invader?"

"Hmph, buying time, are you? Do you think it will work? It's true that I come from another world, so what? What else do you want to ask? What information do you want to extract from me?"

Plunder sneered and said, "You'd better give up on that thought because you won't get anything from me."

Yuri waved his hand, seemingly implying that Plunder was overthinking. "I don't think a small-time villain like you would have much valuable information. I'm just curious about how you came from another world to this place. Don't you ever get homesick?"

Upon hearing this, Plunder couldn't help but sneer, "If you've been to that world, you would know that it's not worth longing for at all."

"Not to mention, ever since I left the Mirror World, it no longer exists!"

"I see," Yuri nodded understandingly, "so you mean even if you die here, there won't be any big shots backing you up..."

"Huh?"

Plunder was taken aback. Before he could fully comprehend the meaning behind Yuri's words, a column of fire instantly enveloped him.

*Whoosh!*

Yuri extended his hands, continuously spewing flames from his palms.

Intense heat swept through, and Plunder was burned to a charred corpse before he could even scream in agony.

Yuri had killed someone. It was his first time, but he didn't consider it as killing a "fellow human."

More accurately, Yuri didn't see it as killing a "similar being," but rather as killing a different species.

Just like a person killing a cow.

"Sorry, Officer Chyre, I may have been a bit too forceful just now. You must be feeling overheated."

Yuri walked to the edge of the grave and reached out his hand to Chyre below, whose police uniform was drenched in sweat.

Although Heatblast's attack was only aimed at Plunder, the scattered heat still affected the old man.

Chyre was pulled up by Yuri, and then he saw the charred corpse of Plunder.

"He shot first, and I acted in self-defense."

Yuri immediately pointed at Plunder's body.

"...You did the right thing. I've wanted to kill this bastard for a long time!"

Chyre, supported by his last bit of strength, ran to the side of the charred corpse and stomped on Plunder's head, crushing it.

Yuri watched in astonishment and couldn't help but sigh with a wry smile, "God bless America."

*Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!*

Suddenly, a series of thunderous booms echoed from the sky.

Yuri turned his head and saw lightning flashing and thunder rumbling in the direction of the Flash Museum. Countless lightning bolts relentlessly struck down, appearing far from normal weather.
