Side Chapter: The Great Monkey King System 4

"What? Who spoke? Who's there?"

Gil Jin-Sang said as he quickly looked around to find anyone near him.

"Fool! Don't you see the mighty Sun Wukong before you"

"I don't see anyone. Show yourself"

"I'm right here!"

Sun Wukong shouted in frustration.

Gil Jin-Sang followed the sound of the voice to a blue wisp floating right in front of his face.

"I still don't see anyone. Am I hallucinating?" Gil Jin-Sang quietly said.

"Boy, do you want me to kill you? I'm right here"

Gil Jin-Sang's head snapped towards the blue wisp. His mind was in a mess. Could he have gone mad because of the beatings? He was actually hallucinating that a blue wisp was talking to him?

"I must be insane"

Swish!

A blinding light emitted from the blue wisp and illuminated the whole area. Gil Jin-Sang barely closed his eyes so the blinding light didn't affect him. He was still seriously wounded and was at death's door.

The blinding light disappeared. Everything went back to normal.

"Open your eyes boy!"

Gil Jin-Sang heard the voice command. He instinctively shivered. His parents were one of the top elites of Korea, so he was used to hearing authoritative and powerful figures speak. But for some reason, this person who was speaking was different.

His voice was full of majesty and power. The authority that emitted from his command could bend the universe. Who was this person?

Gil Jin-Sang slowly opened his eyes, and what he saw shocked him. He saw a floating blue figure. He had bulging muscles and was slightly bulky. Fur covered all his body except his hands and face. He had a tail which moved about.

A golden thin crown floated near his forehead. Gil Jin-Sang thought that it was similar to how wonder woman's crown was worn. A golden breastplate covered his chest. Golden bracelets stood beautifully around his wrist. The floating blue wisp he had scene was in the chest of this ghostly figure.

"Damn! I really must be hallucinating"

Gil Jin-Sang muttered under his breath.

"You dare call me a hallucination! Are you even worthy to hallucinate about me" Sun Wukong said with annoyance. He really wanted to kill the kid.

Gil Jin-Sang raised a brow. Who was this prick that was acting so high and mighty.

"Well, if that's how you are going to talk to me, I don't care if you're a hallucination or not, just fuck off"

Gil Jin-Sang said, nonchalantly.

Sun Wukong's face twitched. It twitched to the point where his ghostly face seemed as if it had been mashed.

'I really want to kill him!'

"Boy, you should be greatfull I brought you back from the dead. If I didn't, you wouldn't be here talking shit"

"Brought me back? I have two things to say. Firstly, people can't come back from the dead. Secondly, fuck off"

At that moment, it was like something had snapped in Sun Wukong's head. He lifted his hands and did a grabbing motion. Gil Jin-Sang felt like something had tightened around his throat.

Sun Wukong flicked his wrist causing Gil Jin-Sang to start floating in the air.

Gil Jin-Sang was defiant, but he could hardly struggle since all his bones were mangled up.

'What? What's happening? How am I in the air? I started levitating when that ghost raised his hand. Could it be possible that he's not my imagination and that he really brought me back from the dead?'

"Look here boy, I don't kill indiscriminately. But you are supposed to be dead in the first place. Don't test my patience. Do you understand?"

"Ye- yes!" Gil Jin-Sang struggled to say.

"Good" Sun Wukong released his grip, causing Gil Jin-Sang to fall to the ground.

The impact almost caused him to die again since his body was still destroyed.

"What are yo- you?" Gil Jin-Sang said with slight fear and struggle.

"I am Sun Wukong. The greatest warrior in the demonic realm. The one who once ruled the thirty one legions of the demonic realm. The one who holds the title, The Monkey King!"

Thunder resounded loudly after he mentioned his title.

"Oh shut up heavens"

Sun Wukong said, somewhat annoyed.

Gil Jin-Sang looked a little sceptical.

"Monkey king? As in the Chinese mythological being?"

"Well, those stories written by the seers weren't very accurate"

"Seers?" Gil Jin-Sang looked confused.

"Well, assuming everything you said is true, why did you save me then"

Sun Wukong cleared his throat nervously. This didn't go unnoticed by Gil Jin-Sang.

"I fought an earth shattering battle with a god who wanted my friend dead. I lost. I don't have any disciple to carry on my inheritance, therefore I chose you to carry on my mantle. To cultivate practices that goes against the heavens. With this inheritance I leave you, you will dominate the universe and stand atop your enemies. Since your body and soul is currently too weak to contain my power, I have created a game like system to help you grow and acquire all my powers."

When Sun Wukong said this, a sound resounded in Gil Jin-Sang's head, followed by a blue screen popping up in front of him.

[Ding! You have been chosen to inherit the powers of the monkey king and make all powers bow before you!]

Gil Jin-Sang was taking aback.

"What? What's this? What is the great Monkey King System?"

"This is what will allow you to gain all my powers"

"Whow! Is this all real? I can stand atop the universe?"

"Yes. All you have to do is accept the system!"

Gil Jin-Sang paused for awhile to digest the information and take a decision. Sun Wukong was getting irritated.

"No. I don't accept"

"I expected no less. This is an honor fo-" Sun Wukong stopped. "What did you say?"

"I don't accept it. This seems shady as fuck. Why would I accept something from a random monkey ghost? I'm not dumb. There's something you aren't telling me right? Why would you randomly give your power out?"

Sun Wukong was shocked. It was as if a bucket of cold water was poured on him. He never expected the boy to decline his offer of power and conquest.

Wukong was at a loss. What was he to do now? He didn't have enough time to go search for a willing host, as his soul and power was beginning to disperse. He gritted his teeth. Should he tell the boy the truth?

"If you tell me the truth, I might consider your offer. From what I can see you need me more than I need you. Otherwise why would you have brought me back from the dead?"

Gil Jin-Sang said with a smirk.

"You really are intelligent boy. You are right. I shouldn't have lied to you. The truth is, if you accept to integrate with the system, I won't die. I would live as a parasite in your body"

Gil Jin-Sang frowned. Parasite? He didn't like what he was hearing.

"It seems I made the right choice to reject the offer"

"What? Why?"

"Live in me? What if you decided to erase my soul later on and take over my body?"

"I, as the monkey king, would never do something so dishonourable"

Gil Jin-Sang raised a brow.

"You expect me to trust the word of a random monkey ghost?"

Sun Wukong frowned.

'Tch. What would it take to make this boy agree. His fear is that I might take over his body? Then, I can only use that option.'

"I have another offer boy. If you are afraid that I might harm you, then what if I make you a better offer?"

"I'm listening"

"This is a higher deal, be honored. When you accept to integrate with the system, our souls and our very essence will merge together. I will be you and you will be me. You will have my everything including memories, skills, and other things, and I will also have yours. All your emotional attachments will be mine, and mine will be yours. This is enough, no? I won't be able to hurt you even if I wanted to, since hurting you means hurting me. We will be completely one. The only thing that will separate us is that, I will speak through the system while you speak through your mind. But any action or word that comes out of your body would be from the both of us. In other words, we are completely one, but somehow separate" the monkey king said with a solemn expression. This was the best option for the both of them.

Gil Jin-Sang's eyes widened after hearing this.

"That's even worse than the first offer. Why would I want to give up being me to be you?"

"Don't be foolish boy. You will still be you, but me. It seems you don't understand somethings. You did all these things for your family right? The reason you strive so hard is for your family. I saw everything when I brought you back."

Gil Jin-Sang flinched at this.

Sun Wukong continued;

"You are still so naive. You want to become better and rich to help your family, but do you really believe that this world is so simple?"

"What do you mean?"

"This world isn't truly ruled by money, but by strength. The facade you are shown of wealth is all a farce. This world is secretly controlled by powerful beings who pull the strings from the shadows. No one can be rich without having a type of power to back that wealth. Do you understand now? Do you finally understand the holes in many of your parents excuses they gave you about their job. Your siblings will never be truly safe if you don't have power and strength"

Gil Jin-Sang gritted his teeth as realization dawned on him. Things started to finally make sense.

'He's right. It's not like I have a choice. For my siblings, to find out the truth of my parents accident, I'll accept his offer. Of course I'll accept the second offer, if we are one, be can't do anything to harm me. At least I think so"

Gil Jin-Sang raised his head with determination in his eyes.

'I will become strong!'

"I will ask you again. Will you accept?"

Gil Jin-Sang looked down at the blue display in front of him.

"Yes. I do"

Sun Wukong smirked.

"Now, let it be done"

Brilliant blue and gold light emitted from Sun Wukong and enveloped Gil Jin-Sang.

Gil Jin-Sang screamed out loud as his body was being reconstructed and healed. But that wasn't the shocking part, he felt his soul changing. The very essence of his being changing.

His character and personality was being warped. He was being forcefully merged. Memories begun to pour into his mind. Memories that didn't belong to him.

Wait! No, what was he saying. These memories were his. Memories of the birth of the monkey king, his ascension to being the strongest warrior, his friendship with Lenin Heartfield. These weren't someone else's memories, they were his, because he was now, Sun Wukong and Gil Jin-Sang.

After a full hour, the golden blue light disappeared. Gil Jin-Sang was on his knees. The trees that surrounded him were no more. They had been erased from existence.

Smoke emitted from his body. Small streaks of gold could be seen in his hair. He opened his eyes. His pupils had changed it's color to bright gold.

He flexed his arm.

"I can't believe how lazy I've been my whole life. My arm is like a twig" Gil Jin-Sang said arrogantly.

"Bhudda, that bastard nearly killed me. I have to get stronger fast so I can heal my siblings here on earth and go back to my daughter in the heavens" Gil Jin-Sang said.

"Hmm... Considering how I modelled the system, getting a pill to restore my sister's leg and cure my brother is possible, but it would take too long. Damn me! If I knew I would merge with myself, I would have made this a cheat system!"

Gil Jin-Sang sighed in exasperation.

"Forget that. Let me check my stats"

'System, show me my status'

<Boy, don't talk me like that. I am Wukong>

'Yeah, yeah, hurry up!"

Gil Jin-Sang nodded at his deduction and chose body cultivation. After he was done, he got up slowly and patted his dress.

He said with a wide smirk.
