Chapter 93 - Emissary

They were reluctant to let him join their investigation knowing nothing about him. However, the information provided by him and his offer shows there's a huge cons in there with little for him. Ryuu knew this and why he was putting risk to gain their trust.

He isn't evil enough to just take things from people who aren't evil nor have done vile action.

Ryuu is able to know this by the [ Aura ] they radiate since it appears that once they commit sins would change the color of Aura which is the soul.

The more sin they have the darker it gets. Ryuu wonders if it's just part of his innate ability for the [ Byakugan ] or this is just how aura works but the former is the most likely answer.

"What do you say?"

"Very well but you have to listen to me."

"No, I'll only do things on my own accord."

This made her frown but nodded since she knows there's nothing she currently does against him. The best thing she can do is stay close to him and observe if there's anything that she is able to find.

"Alright, fine. Let's go."

Ryuu smiled following them leaving Hank behind who whispered to her to be careful as they went outside and hopped on their vehicle. He sat beside Trese who kept glancing at him.

"What are you? I know you're not human at the least."

"Of course I'm human, born and raised so you don't need to worry about me rebelling against humans but I do kill criminals without remorse. Furthermore, I can see people's aura and their sins therefore I don't need to feel any guilt."

"Is that so? What do you mean Aura?"

"How about I ask a question and we can go back and forth? I think it's only fair?"

Trese nodded thinking it was only a fair trade. She has many questions and numerous things that needed to know. If his words were true then she knows that he is human with unique abilities.

"Now what is the skyworld you've mentioned?"

"Skyworld is a place where most mythical creatures come from. Little is known about it. Now tell me what aura is?"

"Aura is a manifestation of the soul, a life force that runs through every living creature, whether they are a meager shopkeep or a renowned knight. However, every person has a different color of Aura that is based on their personality and I must say yours is quite interesting."

"Tell me what color is mine."

Trese was intrigued about the information she was able to gather from him. Ryuu doesn't care since for him it was trivial and he was only telling the vague basics of it.

"Now now, I'm next."

Ryuu wiggled his finger that annoyed her but nodded as he tilted his head trying to find more things to ask her.

"How does Mahika work?"

"Mahika is an invocation of specific chants and rituals with the addition of conjuring of sigils."

"Oh is that all? Well I do hope you'd give me the library books that I desire. Anyway, as for your aura…..it's black."

Trese flinched from his remark thinking that her soul was pure evil downcast before hearing a chuckle turn to look at Ryuu.

"Hold on, let me finish…it's black pure utterly darkness like a boundless sea of a starless night. A black aura doesn't necessarily mean a bad person, it simply means that there is affinity to certain things. Even as pure as the light of Aura could be evil by their twisted lawful evil mindset."

Ryuu elaborated, calming her down, finding her facade had reminded him of Shinobu giving her sympathy.

"I have nothing else to ask for now so don't bother asking."

He said since the information he would need is in the book that she hopefully provides. Soon they drove through the streets and fortunately it was nighttime where traffic wasn't that busy.

After a few minutes, we arrived at the train lines where few police cars were parked. Ryuu looked up to see the mayor who's aura was frankly extremely foul. He decided to let Trese do her job and only assistant.

They went up the train tracks to see an old middle aged policeman that had an Aura of a good person. He looked curiously with a hint of confusion.

"Who is this?"

"A collaborator. He showed me some evidence pointing towards Mayor Sancho being involved in the case."

"Hello there, call me Yaldabaoth."

"I'm Captain Guerrero. "

Ryuu only watched in the side flash his way to the train without them noticing and found that the train to be peculiar. He used [ Byakugan ] tilting his head since he was able to see a vague silhouette of people.

He amplified his Aura sense only to see their figure become more defined. Ryuu then soon saw a woman in a veil hiding her eyes only revealing her lips with an unsaturated violet dress and lipstick.

She was looking at him, seemingly confused and baffled by his presence. Ryuu could only watch her before taking out his [ Rebellion ] in case she was a threat. This surprises her but remains calm staring at him.

"What are you?"

"I could say the same thing."

"I should have expected this but why did you run off like that?"

Trese came inside the train to see Ryuu standing before the woman. She was frustrated that he just disappeared without any of them noticing.

"Who is this woman, Trese?"

"She's the ferry of the soul, Emissary but why are you using the MRT?"

"It is due to the train following the same path to the afterlife."

Ryuu let her converse with her and unequipped his [ Rebellion ] listening to their conversation, caught the term of the Sixth Child of the Sixth Child and thought it was important and the Lakan which he could guess was a protector or mediator for the supernatural.

She showed Trese information about the people that were killed before turning her attention to Ryuu.

"I must ask who this person is?"

"Call me Yaldabaoth, Emissary."

"The false god? Well I shall inform Ibu, the goddess of death."

Ryuu didn't care much since there's nothing he could do once he's involved but doubts that gods would descend to earth and would likely only observe.

It is unusual for him to be calm after learning about the goddess of death but after what he experienced it wasn't hard to believe they exist.

"Now that we have the information, I'll handle the rest."

"No, I smell something and it isn't good. Let me come with you."

Trese only nodded as they headed their way to a secluded apartment complex that reeked of death. Ryuu smells the sweet aroma of blood from outside the building.

"You sure, bossing?"

"Yeah he might do something to you."

"Don't worry I'll handle it."

She replied to the twins who were worried about her before the two headed their way inside the apartment where it was too dark for normal humans to see but Ryuu could see clearly there were tables drenching in blood.

He turned to look at Trese who lit a match that soon hovered above her. Ryuu finds that Mahika seems to be random.

"Well this blood is fresh…"

Ryuu commented, moving their way deeper into the building until Trese was grabbed by a woman and revealed to be people in a cage.

"Don't worry we'll save your child for now, sleep and it's going to be over soon."

Everyone in the cage fell asleep, surprising Trese looking at him with her knife pressed against his neck.

"What did you do to them?"

"They'll wake up soon but I've changed their memories since it would be sad if they traumatize after everything."

She wanted to ask him how but decided to let be and hurried to the other room where she came back with a child. The child was a bit frightened by everything but Ryuu came forward and patted her her before kneeling

"Don't be afraid, me and big sis will handle everything."

Ryuu removed his mask revealing a face that was far from his original. Trese was surprised that he was willing to show his face to calm the child down.

"Don't bother remembering my face since I could do this."

Soon his body shifted into the face of Hank shocking Trese before nodding but still his action speaks louder than words.

"Lakan, why don't you come out and join the party!"
