Lesson Three - Part 5

"Here's for table fourteen." I hear Diago call out from the small window connecting the main hall to the kitchen. He laid out a tray filled with food and I immediately brought the order to the designated table.

It's getting more and more busier by the day and I could tell that everyone is struggling to keep themselves together. I've been secretly supplying them with energy the entire day and they still look like they're about to pass out from fatigue. I guess the human body could really only take so much.

Even Cecilia's unusually sober and have been helping out with entertaining our patrons at the bar since both Ilya and I are on serving duty. She's planning to expand the tavern and recruiting more staff members, which is honestly a big help for all of us.

Meanwhile, I haven't seen Lyonel since our 'date' three days ago. According to one of the soldiers, he and his men have been sent out to scout the outskirts of the kingdom again just like what he was doing when he found me in the forest.

Apparently, there's been another set of reports of Ogres and Orcs attacking travelers. The mysterious thing is that fact that the knights would never spot any of these said monsters in the forest anywhere even if they search for three days straight.

There's definitely something weird going on.

Just as I finished serving table fourteen's food, the double doors opened and six unfamiliar individuals came in.

There are six of them and all are not human.

Two of them are massive, not only because of their heavy and very bulky armors, but also because of their height. They're even bigger than Walric, like some sort of half-Giants.

Three of them are Elves with two having longbows strapped onto their backs and one wearing a white robe while holding a wooden staff. Their arrogance and dislike for humans is evident from their dirty looks.

The one in the front is a wolfman with white fur and light armor. Just like Walric, he has the head of an animal and the overall body of a human. His eyes are a beautiful pair of light blue.

But I could tell that he also doesn't want to be here. After all, they stand out like a sore thumb anywhere in this country.

All eyes are on them and the tension is already building up. I used the opportunity to approach them myself to avoid any disturbance.

"Good afternoon. Will you be dining in? Or have you come to drink on the bar?" I asked in a soft voice, smiling as I approach them.

The wolfman looked at me from head to toe. I guess he's trying to see if I'm worth talking to or not.

"We'll be dining in." He replies in a low voice after a few seconds.

"Please, follow me to your table." I said and the wolfman gave me a small nod.

The people around us kept their eyes on them, obviously on their guard. Like what Cassandra have said, the humans in Domhnall are really very wary of other creatures and I understand where they're coming from. After all, they don't have that much good experience with them.

I led them to a table large enough to accommodate all of them before gesturing Ilya to bring the menu.

"You can call for me if you've decided on your meal." I smiled before walking away, keeping my ears sharp and focused to eavesdrop on their conversations.

'If I see one more human staring at me, I would burn this entire establishment.'

'Calm yourself down, Navin. We're here because we're hired by the king, not because we want to cause problems for the Guild.'

'Ugh. This is why I hate humans. They're weak and stupid.'

'Shut your mouth, Elf. You're going to get us in trouble.'

'What are they going to do? Fight me?'

'I would let them if you keep running your mouth.'

'As if they could even last ten seconds against me.'

I hear the wolfman growl at the Elf mage. Even I want to smack the crap out of that smug little ass.

I know that the people sitting next to them could hear them as well. If that Elf keeps talking, he'll get his face smashed against the wall and his ass kicked, not by the other customers, but by me.

"The atmosphere's become all awkward." Cecilia shook her head when I passed by the bar.

"Is this the first time that you've received customers of other races?" I asked and she hummed in return.

"Walric, Cassandra and her son are the only non-humans who would ever go here. There are solo travelers every now and then, but never a group." She looked at them with curiosity.

The Elf mage and the wolfman are still arguing. Meanwhile, the group of humans on the other table are obviously listening to them, looking like they're planning to confront them any minute.

"I'll see if they've chosen their meals." I said to Cecilia and she nodded.

"Just be careful. I think they spell trouble." She eyed them one more time before looking at me. I smiled and nodded, picking up the small notepad from the pocket of my apron.

I approached them, hearing the wolfman getting more and more irritated with the Elf mage.

"Excuse me, have you decided on what to eat?" I interrupted them with my soft voice and they immediately stopped.

The two half-Giants answered first, ordering very big meals for themselves. The wolfman ordered a large steak with no vegetables and a pitcher of cold water. The three Elves took an annoyingly long time reading the menu before they answer.

"Are these the only things you serve?" The female archer asked, arching an eyebrow. I realized the two are twins but with different hair colors.

"Yes. Are they not to your liking?" I put on a concerned face.

They didn't answer me and instead rolled their eyes. They closed the menu and pushed them across the table towards me.

"Hey, fix your goddamn attitude." The wolfman growled at them.

"How about you stop barking, little doggy?" The male archer grinned at the three Elves laughed.

I could feel my temper rising dangerously. If only I could choke the life out of them, I'd definitely do it faster than they could blink.

"We're terribly sorry about this. That'd be all." One of the half-Giants turned to me, looking distressed and apologetic.

"Understood." I said through gritted teeth, forcing myself to smile.

I walked away, stopping myself from stomping my feet because I would destroy the entire floor if I do so. I arrived at the window and gave Diago their orders and went back to the bar where Ilya and Cecilia are busy with the other customers.

"Is everything fine?" Ilya asked, lightly frowning at me.

"Of course." I petted her and she pouted at me. She always pretends that she doesn't like to be cared for, but she acts so cute whenever I treat her like a little sister.

I hear a commotion behind me and I frown when I see human customers surrounding the table of the wolfman and his group.

Just like what I thought, the Elf mage is still running his mouth like an ignorant little trash.
