I watched the scene unfold in front of me, waiting for the right time to intervene. I stopped Cecilia from interfering before she could get hurt.
"I terribly apologize for our companions here. They're not used to crowds, you see." The wolfman tried to make excuses for the Elves.
"We're tired of pretending that your friend here is not insulting us humans. You seem to be stupid enough that you can't see the obvious thing that you're in a human kingdom, Elf." One of the men said, both of his hands balled into fists.
"And you seem to be stupid enough to confront me like you're even a match against one of my fingers." The Elf mage spoke, laughing to himself.
Before the man could even land a punch on the Elf, I ran towards them and stopped his fist from landing. He looked at me, surprised and confused.
"Don't, please. You will only hurt yourself." I say and he lowered his hand.
The Elves laughed, making me cringe in annoyance.
"See? Even the dumb human woman knows that I could kill everyone in this entire kingdom. So--"
I smacked his face, sending him flying across the tavern and leaving a large hole on the wall.
Oops.
Well, that happened.
"Could you repeat what he said for me? I'm afraid I didn't quite get it." I looked at the two other Elves, death lingering in my eyes. They shook their head before pushing their chairs away from me.
The entire bar is now staring at me, afraid and on the border of panicking. I let out a burst of magic and made them unconsciously calm themselves down.
"A-Anaia?" Ilya whimpered, hugging Cecilia's waist.
"Everything's fine. Right?" I turned to the wolfman's group. I spread fear into their systems to the point where anyone could see them tremble.
"Yes." The wolfman replied in a small shaky voice.
I easily manipulated the other people in the tavern, making them think that what happened is a good thing. Altering someone's morality is nothing more than an easy task so I could do whatever the hell I want and no one would question it.
Hell, I could murder the three Elves in front of everyone right now and they would even cheer for me as I slowly drain their life with my bare hands.
But I'm not at that point of apathy yet, so I won't. I just want to teach these punks a lesson that they would ever forget.
"Please, get out of our tavern and never go back." I gave them the biggest smile that I could muster.
They scrambled off their seats. Even the two half-Giants almost stumbled on the floor from trying to run away from me. As soon as they were gone, the people started to cheer and congratulate me as I expected.
"See that? Not only is she beautiful, she's also strong as well!" Cecilia boasted, laughing heartily in the process.
A few of the male customers promised us that they'd help with the repairs of the damages that I just caused.
I apologized for the trouble that I caused and Cecilia just laughed it off, saying that the smug Elf deserved it for insulting all of us.
"That punk could've hurt more people in here, including his comrades. It's better if he's the only one incapacitated. You did great." She grinned.
She's right. But that wasn't what I had in my mind when I did it. He just pissed me off, that's all.
But of course, not everything would always go as I want to. That's the problem when you're trying to play nice with the people around you.
As we cleaned the mess in the tavern, I hear Wex shout.
"Boss, the Royal Guards are outside!" Wex called out to us from the kitchen. He must've spotted the them through the backdoor.
"Just when it couldn't get any worse." Cecilia groaned.
Oh yeah, the wolfman did say that they were sent here by the king himself. It's no wonder that he would send the his own personal body guards to solve the issue.
"Please, let me handle this." I said to Cecilia.
"Are you sure? You're still a new resident here, you know? They could kick you out of Domhnall anytime they want." Cecilia expressed with genuine concern.
"Yes, I'm sure." I smiled at her.
I went outside and I was greeted by a very tall and handsome Elf. This must be Clima, Cassandra's son. Oh, wow. He's even more good looking than what I imagined him to be. Beside him is a dark-skinned man who looks like he's been to more than enough battles to last an entire human lifetime. This guy must be Wyll Shawth, the Vice Captain of the Royal Guards.
"Excuse me, are you Aiana Omni?" Clima spoke in a deep voice, sounding like he's here to battle instead of talking.
"Yes. Are you here to arrest me?" I asked with a small smile, trying to charm him. It seems to work immediately as the tips of his pointy ears turn into a pinkish color.
So that's how Elves blush? Adorable.
"I'm afraid so, my lady. We have been informed that you have injured a special guest of the King. You need to be questioned and trialed." He explains with a small hint of regret in his voice.
"The trial will decide your fate." The Wyll spoke for the first time and I stopped myself from cringing. He sounds like he smokes 90 packs of cigarettes a day.
"I understand." I said, nodding slightly.
The people around us began to protest in anger.
"She was only protecting us! They were insulting us humans ever since they first stepped into the bar and the Elf mage was instigating a fight!" One of them explained.
"Please, be quiet! It's not up to you to decide if she goes unpunished or not." Wyll half-yelled, silencing the crowd. His gruff voice hurts my ears.
Cecilia stepped forward until she was standing beside me. Ilya, Wex and Diago followed suit.
"We all saw what happened, Captain. You should take us for questioning as well." Cecilia put her hands on her hips, looking as determined as ever.
"I'm sorry, Cecilia. The King told us to bring only her. Even if we want to bring you guys along, you know we can't just do things by ourselves without the King's permission." Clima's voice turned gentle and friendly as he turned to her. Even his speech became informal.
"She just did it for our sake, Clima." Cecilia insisted.
"We'll inform the King about it, I promise." Clima forced out a small sympathetic smile.
He turned his attention back to me and I just nodded lightly at him so we could finally proceed. If you think about it, I could have a chance to meet the two other powerful magic users in the palace. I especially want to see the half-Dragon for myself.
I held out my hands and Clima hesitated for a moment before he put on metal cuffs on my wrists. The people still kept on protesting against my arrest as the knights escorted me back to the palace.
Finally, I have a legitimate excuse to go inside the castle. I can't wait to talk crap with the King.
