~Flashback 13 years ago, hours before Mark and Walter met for the first time~ *See AN*

"Who are you...?" A scared Donovan was backing away into the corner of his bed. Out of nowhere a wolf was lurking around in his bedroom.

The auburn omega had no idea how the monster got in, he hurridly glanced towards the only exit that wasn't blocked by the beastly thing: the bedroom door.

-If I can make it the close the door then alert Gabrielle...-

No that plan had too many flaws, too many variables. What if he couldn't close the door in time, or worse, the inhumane thing could easily overpower the measly wooden door and...

Why today of all days? Iris wasn't home. She hadn't been home the last few days. When Iris isn't home, he isn't allowed to play with Easton.

<Close your eyes, Donovan.>

"Who-who's there?" The auburn omega trembled under the comforters.

Suddenly the feeling of warm gentle sunlight entered his body. A heavenly flash cascaded over him.

"...Maverick..." Donovan whispered in awe. How could he have forgotten his brother? His twin?

Maverick transformed back into his human form. In his terror, Donovan didn't notice that the wolf was carrying a hospital gown.

"You still have no fashion sense," Donovan giggled, remembering their adventure. Suddenly his eyes widened.

"Uncle Bertie-" A pained gasp.

"It's not your fault." Maverick dropped the clothing immediately and went over to console his brother, who was now heaving heavy sobs.

"I should have died-"

"No! Don't you dare say that," Maverick's hold on his brother tightened. "Then Gilbert's sacrifice would have been for nothing!"

"No wonder Gabrielle hates me. It used to be the other way around," Donovan sighed. Then he awkwardly pushed his brother away. "Get off you're naked. Anyways, why'd you take my memories away?"

"I... I wanted you to be safe," Maverick smartly avoided eye contact busying himself into the shapeless gown.

"Anyways his name's Easton Kyle Oaks." Donovan made a gesture to the bedroom door. He was referring to the other omega hiding in the basement. "I kept my promise."

Maverick gave a little goofy smile before everything turned black.

~Present Day~

Donovan woke up gasping for breath. Frantically he checked his bottom... Phew nothing attached to anything down there.

He looked around cautiously for Alfie. It'd be best to avoid him for the time being.

"You're up."

Donovan unknowingly had transformed into his beast form, his growling at Maverick's voice confirmed that much.

"I suppose I deserve that much." Maverick sighed tiredly. He was already expierencing Easton withdrawals. "Don't worry, I took care of everything."

Maverick tossed a small bag to Donovan who used his wolf snout to open. Inside were passports, birth certificates, driver licenses...

"You can take it and leave," Maverick snorted. "You'll just run away like always."

<Why are you doing this?> Donovan's amber eyes glowed suspiciously at his twin.

"You're my brother." Maverick smiled sadly. That day if only he were stronger then none of this would have happened. Unfortunately a fourth memory twist was a gamble he didn't want to make, especially with his twin.

Donovan turned back into his human form. He unconsciously placed his hand on his navel. There was no doubt there was a parasite leeching his nutrients implanted in his body.

"I'll never forgive you," Donovan said, but there wasn't any anger or malice behind his words.

"Right." Maverick expected that much.

"But I don't want to have any regrets," Donovan's voice was steady. It was as though all the composure he had lose over the summer returned to him. Scratch that, the composure that left him six years ago came back. "I just want to know, why?"

Maverick glanced up, is Donovan asking what he thinks he's asking?

<Then close your eyes...>

~Lewis House, Eddie's Room~

"Do you know the lengths I had to go to just so your helicoptor mama would get off my back?" Eddie was ranting. Gabrielle went bat shit cray-cray when Alfie didn't arrive home at the said time.

Alfie wasn't listening. He couldn't listen. That damned Alpha-X dared to slice his weiner off if he didn't stop knotting. Surprisingly, it well... swelled down.

With that, Donovan was gone from his arms, and Alfie never felt so empty in his life.

"Besides, just what happened-" As Eddie was moving closer to get the stupid oaf's attention, he noticed a bite mark on Alfie's collar.

His heart lurched painfully in his chest. His stomache dropped to the floor.

"Who was it?"

"H-Huh? What do you mean?" Alfie only came out of his reverie when Eddie's pheromones started leaking.

"Who'd you sleep with?" Eddie's eyes were brimming with tears. He knew this day would always come (I nearly typed cum lmao), he thought he had been prepared...

"Erm," Alfie was a bit taken back. He still hadn't told Eddie that Donovan's adopted... and besides he didn't feel comfortable telling Eddie about his night time affairs.

"Fine," Eddie abruptly got up. "Thanks for listening to my request."

"I'm sorry-"

"Save it." Eddie snapped. "If you really were sorry then you wouldn't have kissed me that day."

Alfie could only guiltily trudge behind Eddie. Well, he was right. Alfie shouldn't have kissed him all those months ago. Friends unable to reciprocate romantic feelings shouldn't do that.

If Donovan did that to Alfie... the alpha fought down the nausea at the thought of Donovan rejecting him.

Eddie slammed the door once Alfie stepped outside, before breaking down into sobs and sliding down to the floor.

Heartbreaks are never easy.
