Chapter 32

Lakota's POV

I hated seeing her so scared. I don't know why I felt the way I did about her. One minute all I want to do is protect her and the next I can't stand the sight of her. Something in me changes and it truly scares me.  When Lyle brought her to my pack telling me she was a rogue that needed to be watched, I had this urge to rip him to pieces. I never liked the Knight family but I couldn't say no to having her in my presence.

The night of the my birthday ball I figured out why I wanted her near me. The moment she shifted into her beautiful Snow White wolf even I wanted to bow down to her, strong power radiated from her. White wolves are rare and most say they are descendants of the Moon Goddess. The moment she left my heart ached and my wolf howled out to me. She's not my mate, I know that and so does my wolf. My mate died the same day I met her. My pack was attacked by rogues 4 years ago and she was one of the few rogues that made it onto my pack alive. I smelled her the minute she crossed onto my land.

My wolf immediately went into a frenzy searching for her, killing any rogue he came into contact with. By the time we seen her my beta Max was ripping her to shreds causing me to howl in pain. I seen the life drain from her eyes as she took her last breath. Ever since that day I've been closed off. I don't go to my pack dinners and hardly talk with anyone from my pack. I lost control that day and killed him. My pack assumed I had just gone mad, nobody believed that I would purposely kill my lifelong friend. At times I couldn't believe I it either. I had told my pack to kill any rogue they seen, they followed my command and everyday I regret it.

When Esther Knight showed up at my pack two days ago telling me she had a proposition for me I couldn't help but here what she had to say. It's not very often for the Knights to show up at my pack, so when they do I know it's of great importance. She  tells me she is bringing me a gift but with this gift I must do something for her. To say I was intrigued would be an understatement. Of course I listened to what she had to say and asked her to explain. She wants me to mate with the Moon Goddess and when I do all she asks is that I find out where her mate is. Who would say no that? To be mated to the Moon Goddess is a great deal among the were community. I didn't hesitate answering her, accepting her offer.
