Chapter 10: First First Love (3)

Wei Qing directed her eyes out of the window and allowed the breeze to engulf her. She tried to take her mind away from the rumors, but the more she did, the more hysterical she became.

Chen Yi noticed and sighed.

"If you want to talk about your feelings to anyone, I am all ears" he surprised himself with his sudden care and honesty.

Wei Qing swallowed the lump in her throat. She very much hoped she could speak her mind, however, she thought otherwise.

What if he thought she talked too much? Or she was not womanly.

Looking at the hesitation in her eyes as if he knew whatever she was ranting about, Chen Yi commented "Don't fret your mind on that...I'll not think you are a chatterbox. Or any worse" he smirked.

Wei Qing hid her face inside her palms in embarrassment. Her face and cheeks were flushed.

"You know, I had lots of expectations. For Brother Yuze and Huahua" She started with a deep grunt "They were so happy. Too happy for the world"

The mention of Chun Hua angered Chen Yi. He made sure to subdue his nerves and concentrated on the road while being attentive to the woman's conflicts.

Wei Qing covered her face again to hide her tears "I expected too much from her. She was a nice person. She'd never even hurt a fly, yet she broke my brother and left. She made it seem as if brother wasn't faithful during their relationship. I had even confronted my brother thinking it was his fault. I thought we were best friends. She loved me. I loved her. Our sisterhood was splendid and envious. We couldn't live without each other, but...."

"Here," Chen Yi passed out a tissue. Wei Qing laughed between the tears and thanked him.

After wiping the tears, she continued "Sometimes, I used to wonder why she did that. I thought I was at fault for not acknowledging her feelings and I failed as her best friend. The guilt was cramming my entire soul inside. I thought I knew everything about her. Her heart. Her feelings. Her life. Guess what? I was wrong all along. The mystery behind her betrayal is still killing me. Why did she ruin her life and marry brother Tiling? Did she have a reason, as brother thinks? Or she was fooling with brother's feelings all those years?"

A frown settled between Chen Yi's forehead. He clenched his jaw bitterly and exhaled calmly.

"She's not worth any of your affections" The man gritted.

"I know" She agreed "But she was our childhood friend. So I trust that she had her reasons, which I must seek"

A few minutes ago.

Chun Hua was coming back from the market. Lucky for her, no one knew her or recognized her face. She guessed it must have been the age rate in the community. Most of the people she had encountered so far were at least younger and older than 32.

While on the call with Mo Tiling, as soon as the elevator opened for her to reside inside, she saw a familiar profile at the corner of her eye. Shocked, she immediately left that spot when she noticed the silhouette walking in her direction.

"Hey, why are you panting?" Mo Tiling asked

Chun Hua blinked her eyes repeatedly, however, she still saw the familiar face.

'She has matured a lot, but why is she here? Does she live here too? This World is a small place indeed'

"Huahua, are you alright? Talk to me. Did something..."

"Tiling, I'll call you later. I have to go" She hung up and concealed herself behind the stairs, waiting for the woman by the elevator to be gone. She suddenly felt her heart rising and her nose cringing to sneeze. Tight-lipped, she held the tip of her nose tightly to prevent her from sneezing. Altogether, she breathed out a sigh of relief after making sure she had hidden well.

'Wei Qing'

She pushed the name at the back of her mind and entered the elevator.

A while back, after being dropped off by Chen Yi at her brother's residence. Wei Qing entered the large building. Eyes from different directions lay on her. Behind her, as she walked, she heard some men flirting but avoided them. Her priority was her brother's condition.

After ridding of those men, she ambled to the elevator. Brother Yufan had messaged her the floor and room number. Unexpectedly her fast steps stopped, and her neck twisted to the side.

'Huahua?'

She called, but when she turned, there was nobody there.

Breathing a sad sigh, she entered the elevator and pressed the sixth-floor button. Her memory trailed down the lane to the past where three blurry silhouettes were running and screaming like it was their last time on earth, under the rain. Tears shimmered.

'Brother, please be fine'

Her footsteps hastened to the room number. With a single knock, the door was instantly opened. She took her sunglasses off in the presence of the older woman, whose face was exhausted. Her brother must have been exasperated and fired his frustration on the poor housekeeper.

"Brother, you coward!!" She hissed the second she entered the room. She followed the housekeeper to the bedroom.

"Why are you here?" was Wei Yuze's interrogation the second she had sauntered into his room. Wei Qing scoffed and dropped her bag to the side.

"I can't believe this heartless brother who has not seen his younger sister for over a year. She comes back and his first words to her are 'Why are you here?'. You are truly a good brother" She sneered.

"Qingqing, return home. I need no guest" He closed his eyes and turned his body away from her. He was frustrated with Han Yufan, and now more headaches approached him.

"Too bad, brother. I am living here with you" She concluded with a shrug and bright smile plastered on her fair face.

Wei Yuze threw a glare at her petite body and growled out "I said I need no guest"

Wei Qing smiled "I heard. Then you have no guests, but a sister"

"Qingqing, you are adding to my troubles and I am not fine at the moment, just leave and tell our parents that I am doing fine" He sounded to her like he was pleading.

However, Wei Qing shook her head and scrutinized him from head to toe "All I see is a sickness"

"F**k!!" The man cursed "Get the hell out of here!! I need nobody, not Yufan, or You!! I am better off alone"

"Alone to die, thinking about her? Brother, can you pretend to be mature for once? You never got sick when she left, and in just a day of her return, you're like a chicken limping for his favorite snack and spread out like some bedridden fool" She groaned in displease.

"WEI QING!! I AM YOUR ELDER BROTHER. YOU DON'T SAY TRASH LIKE THAT TO ME"

"AND DEAR LOVESICK BROTHER, ONLY AFTER GETTING INTO YOUR RIGHT SENSES WILL I START TREATING YOU WITH RESPECT ONCE MORE"

The two siblings exchanged cold glances at each other. The housekeeper sighed in her heart. They forgot she was there.
