Chapter 16: The Song of Sword and War

"Kayden, Lucas, y'all ready?". Adelphia asked energetically. "I really want to watch a fight between a Defender and a Supporter".

"Bring it on!". Lucas held up his fist.

"Please be easy one me, I'm only a Supporter". Kayden smiled awkwardly.

"Same rule, just a practice battle and cannot use weapons". Dr. Burggraf activated the system. "Adelphia, start the battle".

"Yes ma'am". Adelphia swung her arms, she created a large magnetic barrier to cover around Kayden and Lucas. "3, 2, 1, FIGHT!".

Kayden created a weapon from dense liquid: "Aqua Sword". He pointed the sword to Lucas. "I'm ready".

"Rough Skin". Lucas increased his defense. "Come on Kayden, don't let me wait for you".

Kayden jumped up high and slashed the water sword, sadly, Lucas caught it with his own hand. "That's all you have?"

"Release". Kayden turned his sword back into normal water and stepped back away from Lucas. 

"Heavy Punch". Not letting Kayden escape, Lucas speedily gave him a critical punch head on. "Take this".

"Aqua Aegis". Kayden formed a wall of dense water in front to protect himself. "Phew, thank gosh it didn't hit me".

"AHHHHHHHHH" - Kayden used his Siren voice to push Lucas to another side.

"I thought you could sing?" - Lucas was trying to trigger Kayden psychologically.

"Blessings of Amphitrite". Kayden sang a short melody. Out of the blue, a rainfall appeared. It helped increase Kayden's speed and regenerate his stamina. The rainfall kept dropping like an eternity. 

"What's he doing?". Phoebe turned to Adelphia and questioned politely. 

"He's setting up an ideal environment to fight". Adelphia explained in detail. "Being a Healing Supporter, to battle against a melee Defender is almost an impossible thing. That's why Kayden has to do so much. Plus, he's a water caster, rainfall would aid him a lot".

The floor surface is starting to get slipperier, it does make Lucas find it difficult to move around with his heavy buff. So he decides to switch to attack mode.

"Rage!!!". Lucas screamed, his speed increased at the same time as his attack damage. 

"Let me see what you got". Lucas threw out a hit on the ground. "Earthquake".

Kayden wasn't prepared for this, so he wobbled a little bit.

What a good chance, Lucas swiftly runs to Kayden and wrestle him. Kayden tries to push Lucas away, however, a Healer cannot do anything to a strong Defender. Kayden relies a lot on his allies, so this is just too hard for him even with a rainy environment. 

There are 3 types of Defenders, Brawlers, Tankers, and Warriors. Defenders usually stand in the front line or middle line. They are commanders of the team or the hardcore shield to protect Attackers and Supporters from dangerous enemies.

Brawlers are another type of Controllers in the Supporting system. They annoy enemies, sometimes even end up killing them. But mainly, their job in the team is always being the pioneer to start the battle. Always go in first, even if some of them are leaders. They create chaos, they make enemies fear, and they are chance makers. Adelphia is a good example for this type of Defender. 

Tankers are the heavy shield to bear damage for everyone in a team. Most of them are big and firm, they are people with the highest durability in the battle. This type of Defenders always have to stand in the front line.

Warriors are more balanced. They are half of Brawlers and half of Tankers. They bear damage, they have high speed, and they are good at annoying enemies with their unexpected damages too. Lucas is one. That's why a ranged Healer with a fine damage amount like Kayden cannot deal with him.

"BREAK A NECK". Lucas finished Kayden with his move. Kayden swooned.

"Dr. Burggraf, I was expecting Kayden would do something cool, but I forgot that we didn't allow everyone to use weapons". Adelphia boringly said. 

"Yes, he relies on his watery instrument a lot". Dr. Burggraf was watching Kayden's stats. "Without his weapon, he's just a humble Controller".

"Next is Phoebe versus a VR enemy". Dr. Burggraf let the system clear out the battle. "Because Lucas is still good, so can you help Phoebe?".

"Okay sure". Lucas nodded aggressively. "Let's go Phoebe, wreck this shit!".

"Yayyyy". Phoebe happily spoke. "I get an ally to assist me".

"This enemy will be tough, so I allow you two to use weapons". Dr. Burggraf looked at Adelphia.

Understood the assignment. "Extreme Force: Magnetic Shield". Adelphia created the thickest magnetic shield that she could.

"The VR enemy that y'all will be against is Iron Maiden". Adelphia combed her hair by manipulating forces. "The one's from the metal tower project. It's a special assignment for third year students and above. Technically, to pass, at the end of the year, I'll have to kill something like that".

"WTF girl, is it too much???". Phoebe was super confused. 

"That's why I gave you the permission to use weapons and an ally". Dr. Burggraf was typing something.

Adelphia is helping Dr. Burggraf setting up for the battlefield. While Maria and Esserine are bringing Kayden to the Academy Clinic. These nurses can never have a day without injured patients. 

The Metal Tower is divided into 3 floors. It is the easiest expedition of all and a good project for third year students to experience the brutality of this world too. Plus, they only need to get a required amount of gears from Iron Maidens and deliver to the Academy's tech system. It's not so hard. Iron Maidens are guardians of the lowest floor. 

"Get set, GO!". Dr. Burggraf hit the button.

Out of thin air, the system creates something. It's a robot, no, more like a metal girl. All of her body's parts are made of iron. She has gray skin and red eyes. She looks really wholesome and fantastic to take down.

Lucas summons his weapon, it is a two-handed hammer, a heavy weapon. Now we really understand why Kayden cannot escape his wrestling. Phoebe operates her battling technology system, she's up for it.
