Rowan had said he wasn’t that great of a cook, but the simple pasta dish he made us was delicious.
I helped him clean the dishes. I hadn't done this before, but it seemed self explanatory.
We finished our sleep atop the skoolie, laying intertwined beneath the stars.
I later woke to the sensation of moving, the bus engine loud. With our makeshift bed empty, I knew Rowan had commenced the drive. The sky was light pink - not yet at its bright golden-sunset peak.
I lowered myself down the hatch, still wearing nothing but his red cloak. When I saw he was fully clothed, I felt especially naked.
“Good morning, Princess,” he said when he saw me through the wide rearview mirror.
I didn't know how to feel about my legitimate title. It tied me to a kingdom I wanted no part of, but I liked the way he said it - as a title of respect.
“Good morning, King,” I replied.
He contentedly smiled.
I wrapped his cloak fully around me and stood beside him. “Where are we going now?”
