1 Did I get reincarnated?

[Welcome Steve Monroe, to the fantastic world of Elea. Mages reign this world, to protect the common folk from monsters. Unfortunately, I have to inform you that you have no special abilities. This means that until you find a mage who's willing to protect you, you should probably try and avoid monsters as much as possible. That's all, I wish you the best of luck not getting eaten!]

In the middle of a barren field somewhere in Elea, a man could be seen. This person was lying on his stomach, with his face in the dirt.

This man was no-one else than the ability-less Steve. A man without abilities, in a world of mages and monsters...

He started waking up. "Blergh" --cough-- "urrrghh" --cough-- "Where am I? And why is my mouth filled to the brim with dirt??" were his first thoughts on this brand new world.

His head hurt like hell! He must've fallen on his head when getting warped out of that vortex. Steve quickly started to get as much dirt out of his mouth as he could.

After getting most of the dirt out of his mouth, he got up and opened his eyes. It seemed like it was night time, as the darkness was blinding him. He had trouble looking around him, but after adapting to the darkness, he saw he was on a field, in the middle of nowhere. Above him, he could see two moons, shedding a soft glow onto the lands of Elea.

"How can there be two moons? This place... Isn't earth?" Steve was dumbfounded.

Just as he was figuring out where he was, he noticed something strange in his eyes.

"There are messages on my eye's retina? Did I perhaps get reincarnated into a fantasy novel?!"

Yet, after reading the system's messages, he quickly got pushed back into reality... What kind of bullshit system was that? It basically told him he was going to die! Apparently, he was trash in this world. Even worse than trash. Why couldn't he just get a grandpa in a ring or an OP system?

But no, he had to get dumped in a magic world without abilities... To make matters worse, it seemed like there were monsters in this world! He didn't even know where he was right now...

He started to recollect his last memories, to find out how he had arrived in this world.

I remember I stepped into that purplish black hole... Then I seem to have landed here. I'm guessing that it actually was a portal to another world!

According to my useless system, this world is called Elea. Unless I find a portal back, I probably won't be able to leave this world... Please tell me there's a way back though, my wife is waiting for me!

Another thought crossed his mind. Would Paul be in this world as well? Would he finally find a clue about his long-lost little brother? Would his brother have abilities? If he did, it was quite horrifying to think that his younger brother would have to be the one to save his trashy ass. Shouldn't it be the other way around? I'm the big bro here!

Whatever, I should just accept this new reality and make the best of it. If Paul really is here, fate will bring us together.

After getting himself together, and being convinced he now was in a fantasy novel, he thought about how most of those guys that shared the same fate had a profile!

Maybe I have one too! How do I open it though...

He started thinking about a profile, he snapped his fingers, he closed his eyes and thought about a profile again... Nothing seemed to work.

After spending 5 minutes trying to open his system, he carefully looked to make sure nobody was watching him as he mentally prepared himself for something.

"Profile!" he shouted.

He saw something reflecting in his retina once more, seems like it had worked! He would be too embarrassed to shout it out loud when people were around him though.

Steve was speechless! What a shameless system!

System, do you have to be so harsh?! You're the one that has low intelligence!! Your whole family has low intelligence!!

Whatever, I should just go and find a civilized area. That way I might find out more about the dangers in this world.

He remembered reading an article on Earth that said to follow a stream of water. People would always settle around a water source. If you stand still and listen very carefully, you might actually hear a water stream!

He didn't hear any stream right away though, but after walking around for half an hour he managed to find a stream of water. It was a shallow creek, which contained freshwater!

Finally! He would be able to rinse the remaining dirt out of his mouth!

After washing his face and drinking some water, he started following the stream downhill. After a few minutes of following the creek, he arrived at a violently streaming river! Following the river would surely bring him towards a village or town!

He quickly noticed something weird in the river though. At first, there was just one big golden fish swimming beside him. But after a couple of minutes, there were at least 50 fish following him!

Suddenly, he remembered the system saying something about monsters wanting to eat the common folk... These fish wouldn't be the monsters the system mentioned, right?!

He decided to walk a bit further away from the stream, just in case.

After continuing his walk, he heard the rustling of leaves behind him. He turned around, thinking he would finally see the first person on this planet!

Hopefully, it's a beautiful girl that can save me...

His thoughts quickly changed when he noticed a rabbit behind him though.

Huh, why is this rabbit following me? And why are its eyes glowing red in the dark? Also... Why is it over 1 meter tall?!

I should probably... RUN!!!!

As he started sprinting away as fast as he could, the forest became alive. Monsters popped up from every nook and cranny! Snakes, rabbits, moles, crows... there were hundreds of them!

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!" he couldn't help but scream! "HELP ME!!! Monsters are chasing me!!!"

Right before the monsters were about to catch him, he quickly said a prayer.

Please don't let me die... please don't let me die... God, I just arrived in this world! Can't you even let me survive a single day?!
