84. What Goes Around

It's as if the universe wants to pity me because immediately the driver zooms out of the driveway, my phone starts ringing. At first, there is no urge to pick up the call. In fact, I internally cursed whoever it is that is adding to my frustrations.

It is when the phone continues ringing that I decide to take a peep. Mark? Why is he calling me, I wonder, while bringing out the phone from my handbag.

"Hey," I answer with a tired voice.

"What? Are you still angry about what I said about blackmailing you to your husband?"

I sigh. I have almost forgotten that I am currently not on good terms with him. Whatever reason it is why he is calling must be so important.

"Is that why you are calling? To finally blackmail me?"

"I actually called to apologize," he replies in a soothing tone.

Relief washes over me. Though I have nothing else to lose even if he decides to report me to Michael, I still want to leave that marriage on a clean slate.
