111. Further Shock

My life is falling apart again. I have been sitting in the same spot for hours after the officer I worked with in the past said that Michael might never be released until further notice.

As it stands, he is not allowed any visitors at the moment.

I continue staring into space, wondering what I will do with my life now that my husband is locked up for good. Since I have firsthand knowledge of how the law works, I know that Michael's release will not be anytime soon.

A gentle tap on my lap jolts me out of my thoughts. The former colleague officer is back, this time with a paper cup, probably containing coffee. She hands it to me with an equally gentle smile.

"You look like you need some caffeine. Want some?"

I sigh in relief while taking it from her.

"You also look like your world is falling apart. Do you want to talk about it?"
