Chapter 8 Death & Act

Neil glanced at his roommate back, and then his footsteps also hurried following him, just beside the black car, both reaching at the exact moment.

Instantly, the roommate was startled by the sudden appearance of Neil in front of him.

Neil glanced at him deeply and then sighed with pity.

"What happened?" Roommate asked in surprise; his heart tightened, looking at the pitying expression on Neil's face.

"You made a mistake," Neil replied, his expression becoming cold.

Suddenly his whole body hair stood up with a shiver passing through his back head all the way to the tailbone, years of experience alarming his senses.

Instantly, he sat down according to the timing in the simulation and started binding his shoelaces, which he left opened before.

Thud!!!

Neil's heartbeat slowed down hearing the familiar bullet-piercing sound.

A thrilling sensation spread through his body, a rush of coldness drowning him, like it was rushing through his skin all the way, engulfing his heart.

He glanced at the tiny blood droplets falling on the ground expressionlessly.

Neil then raised his head and glanced at the corpse of his roommate in front of him emotionlessly, seeing the light fading away from his roommate's pupils with confusion and surprise on his face.

Dang!!!

Neil body shook and backed away, colliding with the black car behind him, and then sat down on the ground. Slowly, his pupil fell into a daze and horror.

Fear and a disbelieving mix of expression shrouded his face, the perfect representation of a young schoolboy who just witnessed the murder of his roommate.

He even ignored the crowd exclamation and school guards shouting; they were reminding him to lay low while securing the school gates.

After a while,

A dim siren sound rang in Neil's ears; his ears shook, and slowly the sirens became clear and audible with a tire-rubbing sound. A few law enforcement vehicles appeared and stopped on both sides of the street, first closing the entry and exit of the road.

Then an ambulance and another law enforcement vehicle appeared and stopped beside the black car.

Instantly a few officers appeared, looking at the corpse of the student with his left chest pierced by the bullet. They took a breath, looking at the bloody hole, and after checking the pulse of the body,

The officers stood up, removed his cap, shook his head, and sighed, "He is dead; it's a sniper." Then he started looking at the surrounding buildings windows and roofs.

He also saw Neil sitting in front of the black car in a daze and horror. 'It's the other boy seen beside this victim; his condition seems bad.'

"Damn, murderers nowadays are really ruthless." Another officer appeared while saying something; suddenly he stopped speaking, seeing the officer in front of him eye-getting at him.

He turned and glanced at Neil, sitting beside the car, while bowing his head in his knees and grabbing his knees with his arms tightly, while his body is shivering a little, as if he witnessed a horror.

"Ahem, little brother, don't worry; we will find the killer; we will inform your parents soon." The officer appeared beside him and patted his shoulder.

Neil raised his head and then nodded, clearing his tears away.

'It's really hard to condense tears; I have to keep my eyes wide open for a few minutes; it even started hurting now.'

Neil thought while glancing at the officer and then turned and looked at the corpse of his roommate being picked away by the ambulance.

A fear and timidity flashed through his eyes, and his body shivered again.

The officer beside him sighed, seeing his arm trembling along with Neil's body.

He can truly feel Neil is extremely frightened.

He then patted Neil's shoulder again and consoled, "Don't worry, everything will be fine; can you tell me what happened?"

"I don't know. I sat down in order to tie my shoelace, and then I saw he was lying." Neil shook his head and replied with a depressed voice,

The officer nodded and then asked, "Have you seen any suspicious person or any activity regarding your friend in the past few days?"

Neil shook his head and then replied, "I don't know; he was the same as usual."

The officer brow furrowed and then glanced at the other officer, standing beside him; he gestured at him, and then both walked away and stopped at the other corner and started talking.

Then the officer returned with a phone and card in his hand and then asked,

"We found a smartphone and student card and nothing else on your friend; his name is Bobby Lawrence. Can you tell me about his relatives or anyone who visited him in the past few days?"

Neil shook his head and replied again, "I really don't know; he didn't share anything about his relative."

Then he glanced at the other officer standing beside him and took note of his testimony. He asked, "Can I leave now? I am tired sitting here."

"Offcourse you can leave; just we also wanted to ask about your dormitory room; we want to see it." The officer replied and nodded, then they also told him that they wanted to visit and see his dormitory room.

Neil nodded and then walked forward toward the school silently. The officers glanced at each other and followed him while talking about their assumptions about this case.

Soon they reached the dormitory. Neil opened the door with a key and then backed away silently.

The officer nodded and thanked and then walked inside.

While Neil stood outside the room beside the grill, looking at the direction of the outside ground thoughtfully,

'For now everything is happening according to the simulation; I have to strictly follow the simulation, lest I change the possible future inadvertently with my actions.'

Neil thought to himself, while looking around,

After a while, the officers appeared outside the room, and then they glanced at Neil standing in a daze; both glanced at each other in pity and shook their heads.

One of the officers patted his shoulder and said, "Student Neil, thank you for cooperating with us. Here is my contact card; you can contact me if you want to share something about your roommate."
