A quote from Mrs. Okereke

There is a family that lived in the fear of God. They were blessed with two daughters and a son. me and Mrs onyeoma were good businessman. They lived in the city with their family. This couple was known for their generosity both to the church and to villagers at large. There is a common saying that when doing good many will be your friends and relations. No wonder job said I was an eye to the blind, to the widows, to the orphan, etc. Mr onyeoma lived his life for God and mankind. He also made plans for his family. To the one and only son, he said he would be trained to be a lawyer so that he will speak for others.

However, one day, he told his wife that he would spend the weekend in his hometown, Ubi. As the first son of the family, whose parents were dead, the onus was on him to manage the family affairs. the late father had a lot of land.

Mr onyeoma as the eldest son had a greater share of them.

Though he did not live in the village, he never allowed his land to be in the custody of any brother or kinsmen. He thought of what to do with those land but concluded, it was better he focused more attention on his son's education since he was very clever. While in the village, there was a call to settle a family matter among his kinsmen. During this meeting, Mr onyeoma was poisoned. He never thought that someone could poison him. He managed to get back to the city and was rushed to the hospital but after two days he died.

The wife was left with the burden to carry out the plans that they had made together. After some years the poor widow taught that the time to ripe from her only son had come. onward to get married. she was so afraid that she did not visit the village with the children.

As a petty trader, she managed to support onward financially to enable him to get married. the idea of becoming a lawyer was postponed. the widow thought that as the only son it was better he got married and settled down lest they kill him the same way they killed her husband. The two girls were allowed to get married but unfortunately, the men that married them were not rich. onward was lucky to have ola, a beautiful and decent girl, as a wife. They continued leaving happily in the city.

one early morning, Mrs onyeoma called her son and his wife to acquaint them with plans to replicate the village. since they did not have a house of their own in the village, she was living in their family house. when the husband was alive, they occupied three rooms. After the death of her husband, their rooms were left with one room for her and her son. But it was one week, one trouble. she has to endure since there was nothing else she could do. it was just seven months since she left the city for the village, and inward's wife ila was already pregnant, and she knew It. The sin had to send a message home, inviting his mother for omugwo.

During her stay with the son in the city for Omugwo, she narrated to the son the kind of suffering she passed through, especially in the hands of his uncles who took possession of every land that belonged to their father. even those that are from my pot are also persecuting me the son consoled and encouraged her, adding rather sympathetically, knowing that was how things would turn out. If they can kill your husband what else can they not do? be prayerful and look unto God.

when the omugwo was over, she came back to the village with soaps, salt, and other gift items to share with her mates. they asked about the name of the child and she told them is Ihuoma. As a result of the state of things in the village, onward always sent money and other things to the mother. he hardly visited the village, as a result of the mother's advice not to. one night, he dreamt and saw the mother's advice not to. one night, he dreamt and saw the mother, tattered and unkempt. when he woke up he was troubled and divided to visit his mother that weekend. He told the wife I am going to take my mother by surprise.

Mrs onyeoma was returning from the frame that evening when she heard children shouting, welcome brother. she put down the fire woods she was carrying only to see it was her don onward. The mother called him up in the night and said "I told you to relax in the town and that I will be fine"

" But how can I relax with the kind of terrifying dream that I had onward replied?"

They comforted each other and onward told the mother "I know my son but don't forget ndubuisi what do you mean onward retired. All I am saying is aghara ndu kpa aku- onye iro erie ya" she elucidated. it was as if the mother knew what was going to happen

onward departed the village pondering over what the mother had told him. on his way back to the city he met an uncle at the village square onward my son I learned that you came, are you going yes he replied with an exchange of handshake there was no sign of illness for months those that killed the Father were after these. they wanted to take full possession of the land
