Chapter Twenty-One

"Truth or Dare?" He raised a brow at me with an enigmatic smile.

I bit down on my lip thinking hard. Truth or dare? Given what others have been dared to do I thought going for truth would be the best choice. Even if I was asked crazy questions like others who went for truth before me, I decided that I would close my eyes and be done with it.

I took a deep breath. "Truth".

I saw him turn and wink at Sam. Why—?

"Would you rather I sucked on your cute nipple or lovely pussy?" He asked with low whispery voice which almost came out as a moan.

I went hot all over. "Hey!"

"Elijah you're crossing the line". Sam growled threateningly.

There was such a hush that the only thing I could here was the crackling fire and my sharp breaths. "Truthfully speaking, none of the above".

"That's not among the options I gave you". He pointed out. "Give me one of them or..." He released a slight close-lipped smile. "...both".

I ran my hand through my hair unable to believe this guy.

I looked at Catch to confirm the truth of Samson's words and he did, he nodded.

"I go for dare".

Samson chuckled. "Let me kiss you".

My head snapped to Sam, his face was white. I looked back fierily at Samson. "I have a boyfriend who is fucking present. Do you think this is a joke?".

"It's a game, why the seriousness over nothing?"

Sam lunged at him but he was held back by other guys who tried to calm him down.

"I'll kill you, Elijah, if you so much as touch a hair in her head, I swear down".

Samson snickered, " I'm happy to see that you wholeheartedly approve".

And then it came to me. He was doing it to spite Sam. Talk about childish.

I took a stance and matched his self-satisfied smile with mine. "If your mouth wasn't so rotten I'd have 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘥 doing you the favour but alas..." I still kept my eyes on Samson enjoying watching him as he tried to suppress his anger to keep his smirk in place. "Catch? I refuse this dare".

"Okay, guys, anyone have other dares for Alex to pick from?" Catch quizzed.

The substitute dares flowed in.

"Let us all lick your neck". 𝘌𝘸, 𝘮𝘢𝘯, 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘢 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯-𝘥𝘰𝘨.

" Come sit on my lap".

"Ask someone from the group out on a real date"

"Do 30 squats and 10 burpees".

" Put your hands in a guy's pocket other than Sam's and keep them there for fifteen minutes". This one was reasonable though.

"Howl at the moon for ten minutes". Another animal-like human.

" Use indelible marker to put make-up on your face tomorrow".

"Call your ex and ask him how his day went".

" Choose a person here and say five things you hate about them". 𝘐 𝘮𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘥𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘰𝘯𝘦.

"Set your favourite teacher's picture as your FB profile picture".

Finally, a most welcomed voice dared, " Go home with me right now".

I quickly closed the distance between us and linked Sam's arm with mine. "I'll take your dare. Let's go".

And so we left leaving everyone dumbfounded.

**********************

The drive home was silent. I wanted to start a conversation but didn't know how to when Sam's knuckles on the sterring were white. He didn't look like he was ready to talk either. He parked the car in my driveway and turned off the ignition.

I sat still, looking ahead and chewing on my bottom lip. When I thought the awkwardness was going to suffocate me to death, Sam turned in his driver's seat and faced me. "I'm sorry, Alex and thankful".

My brows furrowed and he continued. "I'm sorry for this afternoon, I know I indirectly insulted you. I don't know what came over me and I don't have excuses but I hated that you saw that Catch guy when you had refused to see me, I hated that you both were talking when I had no idea you were on good terms, I hated that he was touching you. I guess it was just my jealo—"

"Shhhh". I placed a finger on his soft lips with an understanding smile. "You can't be jealous of him when he's nothing to me. He's not even a friend, even if he tried forever he wouldn't be able to hold a candle up to you".

Slowly his face spread out in a smile, "You mean it?"

I nodded. "Every bit of it. I'll tell you what happened yesterday and today later". He nodded satisfied. "So what are you thankful for?"

He traced a finger down my cheek. "Thank you for bouncing that major jerk on both his truth and dare".

I laughed. "That major jerk must still think I would go running to him anytime he reared his ugly head my way. I'm guessing the minor jerk is Catch?"

"No one else. Now enough of the two jerks. I've missed you so much today. I'm looking at you right now and I still miss you". His face inched closer to mine with his intense grey eyes growing hotter by the second. He reached out and traced the neckline of my singlet. My breath caught in my throat and I closed my eyes as my heart hammered in my chest. Then with his fingertips he caressed my cheek and throat. How is it that every moment with him felt like my first?

I opened my eyes just in time to see him capture my lips without restraint. I parted my lips and kissed him back just as fiercely. His mouth was firm and quite insistent, fighting for dominance so he could taste all there was to me. I let him win and the kiss went on forever. When he finally let me go I was dizzy from his closeness.

"You taste like sweet wine". He murmured huskily, touching my red lips with his fingertips and desire raced through my body, pulsing through my veins.

Suddenly the car space felt too small and the air was too hot. I was too aware of him that he filled my senses and everywhere. I was going to go crazy if I didn't get out while I still had my wits about me, however little it was.

"Let's take a leisurely walk around the neighborhood". I hurried out.

He did too and hand in hand, we took a pleasant stroll.
