9. First Day Of School? (4)

Haruki wrote his notes at a fast pace. He smiled as he did so, as if he wasn't currently solving an advanced equation.

Haruki was currently in his math lesson. The teacher had created an equation for them to attempt.

She didn't actually think they would solve it, she just wanted them to try.

Haruki quickly finished the sum and began looking around.

'First to finish.'

Despite the way he usually acted, Haruki actually enjoyed competing with others. To him, defeating others represented his own accomplishments.

Although this feeling was gratifying, he didn't let it inflate his arrogance.

"Are you working over there?"

"Hmm? Me?"

Haruki didn't expect to get called out by the teacher. He didn't realise how noticeable he was.

"Yes, Takashi-kun. Have you done the equation?"

"Yes Kiryu-sensei."

"Really? Why don't you come to the front and show the class how you did it?"

"Alright."

Yuzuki didn't believe Takashi one bit. This hadn't been taught yet.

As far as she was aware, Haruki was a typical lazy genius. He could easily understand what was taught to him, but he wouldn't go out of his way to expand his knowledge.

Haruki walked up to the board under everyone's gazes and proceeded to solve the equation. He did it swiftly as if this question posed no challenge to him whatsoever.

"That is... correct. Well done, Takashi-kun. How did you know this?"

"I've tried this type of question before."

Haruki couldn't come up with a good excuse on the spot. Although he had thought about hiding his talents, it simply wouldn't do him any good in the long run.

"I see. You can sit back down. As you all can see, Haruki simply..."

Yuzuki explained how Haruki had solved the equation. All of his classmates were impressed once more.

Haruki finished the rest of the lesson without anything interesting happening.

"That will be all for the day."

Yuzuki ended the lesson without giving out any homework, much to her students' delight.

"That was rough."

"I know right, I didn't understand what anything meant."

"Why don't we ask Haruki? He seemed to know what he was doing."

"Do you think he'd wanna talk to us?"

"It wouldn't hurt to ask. Hey Haruki?"

"Yeah?"

Haruki was a bit surprised to get called out like this. He turned to see two boys behind him.

"Can you help us understand this question?"

"Sure."

Haruki smiled as he helped. His explanation was helpful and insightful.

"Thank you for the help."

"Yeah, I didn't think it would be so easy."

A crowd began gathering around Haruki as some began asking questions. He found himself a bit overwhelmed but still tried his best to talk.

It was lunch now, and Haruki pulled out his lunchbox.

"Wow, your lunch looks so nice."

"Yeah, did your mom pack it for you?"

"I actually made it myself."

"Really? I didn't think you could cook."

Haruki was a little flattered, but he found his social battery getting drained. He quickly excused himself to the restroom.

He didn't have a destination in mind and decided to walk around. As Haruki was walking, he came across a bulletin board.

"Neighbour's Club?"

Haruki was drawn to the poster. The poster was for a new club that was for making friends.

The idea was a little desperate, but Haruki genuinely considered it. He took note of the club's location.

'I'll check it out tomorrow.'

Haruki then decided to eat his lunch outside. He sat himself on a bench underneath the shade of a tall tree. He gently opened the lunch box and began eating the dorayaki first.

Haruki ate with great zeal, his blue eyes scanning the surroundings. A gentle breeze blew past as the leaves rustled, leaving Haruki to remove a few leaves from his head every once in a while.

As Haruki ate, he drew in the gazes of a few fellow students. His alluring appearance and the humble surroundings painted a picturesque scene.

Occasionally, a fellow classmate would greet him, and he responded in kind. Haruki ate his lunch in serenity, processing his memories and the day in silence.

"Haruki?"

"Hmm?"

Haruki was drawn out of his trance by the call. He looked into the figure's eyes as an intense feeling awoke in him.

"Is it... really you?"

"It's been a while."

Her voice was still as serene as ever. A gentle ray of sunlight happened to fall on her, casting an almost ethereal glow on her. Her black hair delicately danced in the wind, brushing against her beautiful face.

Her slender figure was perfect, a figure that appeared to have all proportions taken into account, as if crafted by God himself.

Her dark eyes held a vast array of emotion, her small lips carrying a gentle smile as she looked at Haruki.

In Haruki's eyes, she was captivatingly beautiful.

This was Megumi Kato

She was his ex girlfriend.
