Not Quite Back to The Future.

This isn't quite V, and it is also not quite 2015. However it is a future, just one, no one ever wanted. Hopefully they have flying cars. Welcome to the worst timeline everyone

Chapter 4: Bad Moon Rising

It's not actually cyberpunk lore however I am going to be calling Max Tac's special agent's Blade Runners as a nod to the movie and the novel by Philip K. Dick. I feel it fits with the cyberpunk universe and is a good reference to the cyberpunk genre in general.

======================

The sound of the chime echoed through the cluttered, dimly lit cyberware clinic, as Doc Viktor Vektor worked on a client's cybernetic arm. He was in the midst of carefully calibrating the delicate neural interface when the door suddenly creaked open.

"Misty, you know that I shouldn't be bothered while operating… So what is the emergency?" Vik asks

Misty stutters clearly panicked…

"It's Max Tac… They parked an AV outside and brought the incarnation of death with them." Misty says more than clearly shaken.

Viktor sighs as he speeds up his job closing the access panel to the arm.

Suddenly the man in the chair stirs awake and looks at Vik

"We done doc?"

"That we are, though Cipher may I suggest that you go out the back exit it appears someone has brought some heat down on me," Vik says nonchalantly

Cipher Steele sat up rather quickly on the chair. He actuated his arm in a quick test and was gone wanting nothing to do with whatever was coming made quick work of escaping.

Not even two seconds later a man in a clean-cut suit dragged an unconscious woman in her raven black nearly invisible in the shadow of the entrance. She seemed deceptively young and her hair had been cut short in an almost stylish bob cut. Though it wasn't helped by the fact that she was clearly unconscious and her knuckles were bleeding.

"Viktor Vektor, she said that you were her ripper doctor in Night City… Please help she just passed out on us." The man in the suit said

"Who are you?" Vik asks

"Ethan, I work for Max Tac and this is Blade Runner Wick," Ethan says

"Blade Runner, why in the fuck did you bring a mass killing machine here!?" Vik shouts both angry and fearful.

"She told us at Max Tac that she was actively your patient." Ethan says confused

"... Sit her on the seat and get out." Vik states leaving no room for argument.

=======================================

Viktor Vektor was utterly confused. A Max Tac AV had landed in front of Misty's only for an unconscious woman to be brought into his clinic.

"A fucking blade runner…" Vik says as he was looking at the diagnostics.

For god's sake, she has two cyberdecks and a sandevistan installed. Like what the actual fuck, she was a humanoid Borg, and looking at the work done on her. It spooked him especially since it actually looked like his work. How it could've possibly been him was confusing as hell.

Of course, the even more confusing thing was when she blinked open her eyes kiroshi mark 4's glowed those optic's haven't even been released to the public yet.

"Ah sleeping beauty is awake?" Vik says

"Viktor Vektor a fan of the classics I take it?" Helen says sitting up the emotional shock still screwing with her system.

"Ha, finally someone gets it! Then again you… I must say, you are an enigma." Vik says

"Sorry for the horrible confusion, it is a passive effect that follows me wherever I go, and I can never seem to get rid of it." Helen says with a smile.

"So, do you mind telling me why your Bio implant registered a panic attack followed by a minor heart attack?" Vik asks

"Well... Imagine blinking and instead of it being 2023 it's 2075." Helen says

"Yeah, that would suddenly cause one. 2023 wow… Definitely could've been a cyberdeck glitch especially since you are running two of them. I'll have to look into that after you schedule an appointment. 2023 that brings back memories, so do you like any of the old bands?" Vik asks

"Creedence Clearwater revival?" Helen asks

"Ha! That's the kind of stuff my parents listened too in high school" Vik states with a smile.

"I mean I could've said samurai, however Johnny is an asshole,"Helen admits with a shrug.

Vik laughs as he reaches around behind his back. In a split second, a colt 1911 is being leveled at Helen.

"So… How do you know me, why do you appear to be borged out by my own hands?" Vik asks

"A 1911, nice touch… Vik if you just say that you are my new ripper doc to them. You'll have me in your pocket." Helen admits

"You do Merc work on the side?" Vik asks

"Of course… to be honest I heard you were good people, didn't expect too see a nearly 100 year old pistol in my face…" Helen says

"Who? Who told you about me?" Vik asks

"Axel Reinhardt…" Helen says pulling a random german boxer's name from old memories.

"Axel, dang that takes me back hows olde Blitzhammer doing?" Vik asks holstering the 1911.

"Dead," Helen states flatly

"Damn, what a waste… Fine, I'll cover for you and be your ripper. Just don't ever surprise me with this much heat again. I am retired." Vik says

"Thank you Vik, I owe you." Helen says
