Chapter FOUR

"That is not an easy task, Kimberly."He said. "Why is that?" I replied, trying to maintain my composure. "Your powers are unpredictable..." he trailed off. I tried to comprehend what was coming out of his mouth. "That is due to you being half necromancer and half witch" he continued. I looked confused and I didn't say anything, so he proceeded to explain.

"We wizards and witches don't mix with other races due to the outcome of energy and power not being studied enough. The second part is the detrimental result it could have."

I mentally facepalmed myself. Why did my life feel like a never-ending string of bad luck?

"You being here today is a result of an experiment your father conducted out of ambition."

Without noticing it, my eyes had started to tear up. I was angry, betrayed and so confused. I looked at my uncle with anger, my body was shaking and that triggered something. My uncle's eyes widened, backing up. Augustus looked at me with the same look on his face. Was that fear I saw in their eyes? I got up the courage to look down at my hands.

They were lit up with a blue hue, and there were sparks flying from the tips of my fingers. I fell back, frightened. My hand touched the ground and I could hear voices responding, but I couldn't physically see them. Panic ran through me. My eyes closed shot as pictures of people I had never met, flashed by. Uncle took hold of my shoulders, trying to shake me awake. My eyes snapped open and I was met with a concerned look on my uncle's face. My eyes were stinging as they had become bloodshot.

I was trembling and I didn't know what happened next, but everything turned dark and I dozed off.

A woman's voice was speaking to me, no, not just a woman, but mum's. "Sweetie, how I love you so, I'm sorry, I couldn't be with you much longer." I tried to reach for the voice but I grasped air. I jolted awake and was hit with the cold air as my comforter had slipped down. I could still feel the warmth of my mum's voice lingering in my mind.

My eyes were still blurry from waking up and they had to adjust to the light of the room. I looked around and noticed, that I was in my room.

I felt the need to look for uncle, and there he was sitting on the floor, legs crossed and eyes closed. He sensed my presence and told me to sit down. This was a completely different person than the man I had experienced the past 4years. I sat down in front of him, in the same position.

" I would love to teach you how to harness your powers, but you need to understand this."

He looked me straight in the eyes as he said, "Your mother was adopted into my family, she was not related to me by blood."

I sighed, there was nothing that could really surprise me at this point, so I silently listened without replying.

"I'm an autumn wizard and our powers are to help, the deceased to pass and to protect and preserve life." How ironic, I mumbled. That made my uncle chuckle, "Yeah I haven't been practising for while those parts of my talents."

"Do witches and wizards of different seasons not cast the same spells?" I asked, catching on to the way he described his own powers. He shook his head, "No, we have different rituals, and we obtain strength from different things. "

I nodded, as it made sense. "Your mum's family kept knowledge of their spells and rituals very hidden. They were afraid that somebody would study their skills and use them against them."

I could sense where, he was going with this and I felt myself tense up.

I looked at my uncle and said, "does that mean that you don't know how to train me?"

He looked at me trying to find the right words, then sighed,

"I know where they keep the books, however where they are is tough to get to and it could be dangerous."

I looked at my hands making a fist squeezing them. This was not the time to back out, it was my chance to actually find out who I was and what I was capable of.

I looked at my uncle determined, "I don't care what it takes. I want to learn, I want to find out who I am."

He looked at me surprised and said,

"When you say it like that, you remind me of your mother."

"So, will you help me?" I said to my uncle.

Uncle nodded and I let out a sigh of relief. Then I looked around and spoke up, "Augustus, are you still there?" with a *whoosh,* Augustus appeared in front of me. My uncle looked confused to whom I was speaking to. "Uncle, this is the guy, that helped me when I was being chased by two guys." He looked at me and said, "you were being chased? By whom?" I looked down and retold the whole story, up till the part, where he had found me. He looked stunned, didn't know what to reply, but then his eyes lit up, remembering something. "There was a story, of a kid who had been thrown out from his pack." I looked at uncle, "so you think that one of those guys was him?" He rubbed his beard, "Well, according to your story and what had happened, it seems as though the guy who texted you could possibly be that kid." I stood up, I couldn't really comprehend what had happened to me and what I was finding out. I rubbed my hands sweaty from contemplating on the 'what if's'.

"Uncle, do you know why he was thrown out?"

He explained how he didn't really know. It had been a huge deal due to the fact that, he had been the child of an alpha. So, naturally people had been curious and it had spread around fast. My curiosity had peaked. Who was this amber eyed guy? and why was he hanging out with a dark wizard? Uncle had told me to get some sleep, so that we could head out and get the books. Laying in my bed, finally comprehending and getting the time to actually think about what had happened. I finally let my mind wander and the last thing or rather person I thought of was Rowan.
