Chapter 9: Splitting Paths

Khione's pov

The next day I woke up and I could feel some strength coming back to my body.Samara entered with my breakfast and she told me that the Empress wanted me to come and have lunch together with her. This mother and son duo really are after my life. When Samara saw my face she asked me if she should go and tell the empress that I wouldn't be able to make it.I shook my head and told her " You should take the bull by its horns. "

Samara helped me get ready and when she saw my face she said, "Lady Khione are you sure you want to go today, your face is really pale right now and you have not fully recovered right now ".I smiled at her and realized she was one of the persons who I could trust as my ally.

When I reached the place where the lunch was to be held I saw two figures along with the Empress.The Empress smiled at me and told me to sit down.I bowed down to her and took a seat farthest from the blond figure with red eyes while he looked at me ,his expression was one which I couldn't interpret and I was not even interested in, in the first place.The Empress asked me if I was feeling better and told me to never fall asleep on the balcony.

Kaelean's eyes widened at the Empress's words.That jerk did he really think I would tattle about him to his mother.I just apologized and promised to never fall asleep on the balcony. Odette looked at me with her eyes full of worry every now and then and i gave a reassuring smile.We talked for a few more minutes when the Empress asked ,'When are you going to start packing?'I didn't know what she was talking about, that's when the Empress smiled at me and said ,'Didn't you hear all children 14 and above now have to attend the National Academy?'.

Oh shit I had totally forgotten about the second bomb the Emperor had thrown that day.I told her that i would start packing after some time.The Empress then started saying that both and she consider me as their family and that she would be so happy to have me as her family member.

When I heard this I wanted to wipe that stupid smile off that woman's face but that would surely be considered as an assault so I just decided to leave .I thanked her and left without looking back once.Then I heard someone call me and I didn't want to look back but I knew to whom the voice belonged to so it was pretty obvious that Kaelean would make another magical barrier if I kept on walking.So I turned around and decided to face his tantrum.

He looked at me and said " Why do you want to become my fiance? Didn't you already get a lesson yesterday? Do you want it that badly ? "

When I heard him I wanted to tell him that i would rather die than become his fiancee but I wanted to make him feel even more confused so i smiled a villainess smile and said

'Now that you know my real goal.Let me tell you something.I planned all of this.You got it right but guess what I don't want to be your fiance I just want to be an Empress and you are just a pawn in my plan , just a stepping stone for me.'Kaelean eyes widened and his face was full of disbelief.He looked at me and then I said with my silver eyes shining with the anger I had kept suppressing for a long time " But now I don't want any of it.So i think it is better for both of us to think of each other as strangers.I tried to fool you and you made me fall sick.That means we owe each other nothing now and all debts have been cleared . I don't feel guilty for trying to fool you and it's pretty evident you also don't feel responsible for making me sick.This means we can just go back to how we were before we met ."

After saying this I left him.I didn't wait for his answer cause I had said everything I wanted to say and I was gonna ignore him from now on irregardless of his answer.I made sure that whatever I had said to him made me look like a materialistic and an evil person so that in that future he doesn't even think about associating with me.

Kalean's pov

She greeted my mother and sat down.I looked at her not knowing how I should compensate her for making her fall sick.She sat down and chatted with my mother and sister and her face was still pale which made me feel guilty.After some time my mother started saying that she would like Khione become a member of our family .When I heard this I felt angry at myself for feeling guilty for her a second ago .This girl is very sly and I must not fall in her traps I reminded myself.

That's when she suddenly got up and thanked my mother and left.I couldn't help it so I also thanked my mother and went after her .I called her name and when she turned around she had that cold expression again .I asked her why she was trying so hard to become my fiance.

But when I heard her answer I was shocked.Although I was the one who was blaming her since the beginning I was surprised when she accepted it .But then suddenly her eyes changed and she told me that both of us had somehow hurt each other and were not guilty about it therefore we are even and that both of us owe nothing to each other .After that asked she me to ignore her and that she would do the same with me.Then she walked away.

I still stood there shocked when I heard her true feelings for the first time.She was worse than anybody I have ever met in my life and not only that, her words portrayed me as someone who was just like her and was therefore not worthy of her apology.I promised myself to never associate myself with her and walked away.

Third Party Pov

Both of them walking away from each other firmly convincing themselves to never associate with the other one.Their heads filled with hatred for each other.But as they walked in opposite directions they didn't realize the directions they were headed towards was not away from each other but toward one another.

The sun above shone as both of them walked oblivious of the fact that ties made by fate are not broken that easily .
