Nix (III)

"Wait what?! I could die?"

I couldn't help but exclaim. "What do you mean by that?"

Nix looked at me a little amused by reaction, but quickly steeled his expression and got serious again.

"I mean exactly what I said.

The human mind is fragile and can break quite easily, hence the reason why people don't go around messing with it recklessly." He sighed. "I don't know what Igraine was thinking doing all of this."

"Igraine? Do you mean Ms. Levinseon?" I said unconsciously tilting my head to the side in confusion.

Nix stared at me for a couple a seconds, and I could tell he was trying very hard to mask the mischievous look on his face which made me feel a little unsettled.

But he didn't say anything and only nodded his head.

"So how exactly are going to proceed? And if this is something that could potentially be dangerous for me, how long do we have until we reach that point?" I asked him seriously.

Again Nix stared at me for a while without saying anything.

Since he hadn't responded to my question, I looked up at him my eyes clearly expressing my puzzlement.

When I met his eyes, I couldn't help but stare into them. Nix had the blackest eyes I'd ever seen. When you stared into them, it felt like you were being pulled into a deep dark void.

I unconsciously inched closer to his face not realizing what I was doing. It wasn't until he looked away, that I broke out of my trance.

Realizing the position I was currently in, I could feel my face burning up and backed away as quickly as possible.

I don't know what that feeling was, but I have to make sure that doesn't happen again.

This guy is really scary, I thought to myself. Still feel awkward, I turned to face somewhere else. There was silence between us for awhile.

After what felt like hours, Nix broke it.

"Are you sure you're six-years-old?" I couldn't help the shock I felt at his question.

If I had a drink in my mouth at that moment, I would one-hundred percent choke on it.

Since I didn't want to be found out, I did what I do best and shot him my best, 'are you serious' look, hoping he would drop the topic, to which he shrugged in response. And luckily he did.

"Well answering your first question, we want to find out who exactly blocked your memories and get rid of the restriction that is also causing your condition.

The rest will be up to Igraine since that's more of her job than mine. I'll be helping you recover the memories that have been purposefully hidden.

As for the second question, the most you can stay in this state is thirty minutes.

After that, things start getting complicated since you'll be trying to fight back to wake up. If that makes any sense." He said casually.

Which annoyed be greatly. Nix spoke in a way that made it seem like this matter didn't affect him in any way which was true but still. Me dying here cannot happen.

"So I am guessing the answers we are looking for are inside?" I asked him which he shrugged in reply. "Most likely."

"It that's the case, why did you stop me from entering the house? I could've found them on my own."

"It's not that simple."

"How so?" I inquired impatiently.

Nix sighed again. "Look, to you this "world" may seem like a dream. Like nothing that's happening to you right now is real, it's all a figment of your imagination.

Even though you are aware that it isn't, your mind will lead you to believe that it is because the things you'll be seeing or witnessing won't seem real, no.. it's more like you won't want them to be.

That's why you can't rush in there without being prepared for it.

That's also the reason I'm here. Think of me as a guide"

I didn't say anything for a while, trying to process everything he was saying. It honestly made a lot of sense.

Not too long ago when I awoke here, it felt like this place wasn't really a place even though I knew that it was.

Actually, I knew for a fact that the house we were in right now, was in fact the Domus Alba but for some reason my senses kept denying that fact. It kept making me think that everything was off and therefore unfamiliar even though it was.

The mind truly is scary, I thought to myself.

"The mind is scary isn't it?" Nix finally said after a moment of silence.

My head shot up in surprise. He said exactly what I was thinking. Seeing the look of stupor on my face, Nix couldn't help but laugh a little.

"Well, if you are ready, we can start now. We don't have a lot of time."

"Right." I took a deep breath to try and steady my breathing.

I knew this was something I needed to face in order to progress not just as Simuel Grey, but also as Daus Moore as well. I am no longer that weak and helpless boy who accepted things as they were because I was powerless to do otherwise.

It's time to take action and get my shit together.

I slapped myself on the cheeks in order to pump myself. (To be honest, I don't know what I was trying to accomplish by doing that. It's something I saw a lot of character do in anime so I gave it a shot. I'm lame I know.) Even Nix was a little startled by my sudden action.

I chuckled at his reaction and said:

"Let's go!" While walking towards the entrance of the house.
