The Ticket

Lata stole a glance at her twin and then looked down. How could it be true!!

The spicimen were sampled at two different placed and were sent with Highly Confidential Credentials. Yet both the reports, now leaked in the evening party bulletin , indicated that Lata was indeed drugged where as Sushant was absolutely normal...

AMBITIOUS ENOUGH TO DRUG THE MINISTER'S DAUGHTER, the news read.

But it was not the report that bothered her.

She was worried about Tara.

Why was she so obsessed with the guy?

Damn. Double damn.

Tara was the perfect girl of the Chowdhury family. Everyone admired her. She had never shown any weakness in these nineteen years of life, except one. Sushant Saxena. Her obsession with Sushant remained mystery to her twin. Why this man? Why?

Why was she grumbling about the report being fake!!! Even Lata, the real victim, was no more sure if Sushant really didn't scheme these all.

Her thought was broken as her father spoke, "You only tell me Saxena, what should INPP do with you?"

Lata could see his face turning red. The man kept his head low while his brother opened and closed his mouth like a fish ,in a futile attempt to coin some answer.

This was a mess and Lata knew, her father wont leave a stone unturned to destroy this man.

She was not even sure if that man would walk out alive from their home. Not that she wont enjoy seeing him getting destroyed, but, Tara's face gave her creeps.

She looked concerned.

" Stop playing dumb. Cough it up before I chop off your tongue Saxena. I already warned you, if you were proven guilty, you wont like the consequences. "

" TRUST ME SIR.... I .... I ... I REALLY..." even before he could complete the sentence Chowdhury's booming voice drowned his feeble one,

" You Rascal.... you dare open your mouth!!!"

Lata shuddered from the balcony as she watched the drama unfurling downstairs. True, that Saxena guy was horrible to her the day before, but even then, her father was acting unreasonably. What would the man do? He was neither permitted to speak nor to remain silent. As if sensing her thoughts, Tara mumbled, " Poor Sushant, he needs to be rescued "

And the next moment Lata caught glimpse of her sister flying herself down the stairs and then she was throwing herself between their father and Saxena.

DRAMA QUEEN, Lata mumbled as she watched, her interest piqued to the levels now.

Shyam Kumar Chowdhury was taken aback. Even a politician of his stature was shocked to death. What was his perfect kid doing?

" Dad... we are in love. He didn't do it.... someone else did. I had no other way but to seek his company.... I.... I..... "

Suddenly everything went silent.

Lata could hear her own heart thumping.

LOVE !!!!

WHAT LOVE !!!!

IT WAS NOT EVEN HER THAT NIGHT !!!

But the Ironman of INPP was just not any normal man. After all he was one of the pioneer politicians who knew how to manipulate every possible situation.

He looked confused, but he didn't lose control either,

WHEN DID YOU GUYS START DATING? AND WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME?

Tara stammered but the reply was immediate...

" Dad... we ... we .... just started seeing each other. We wanted to wait. I am just nineteen... But that night I had a drink and.... and suddenly felt dizzy and I craved to be loved... And since we are ... er dating, I thought he would be the safest person to be with.... I ... I ....wanted him.."

SILEEEEENCE.

S K Chowdhury snapped, unable to hear his daughter's confessions in front of fifteen odd core party members.

He licked his lips before he spoke.....

SAXENA.... I STILL DONT LIKE YOU. BUT THIS GIRL IS THE MOST MODEST PERSON I HAVE EVER COME ACROSS. ARE YOU AND HER... I MEAN SERIOUS?

Sushant was nodding, once vertically and then horizontally and finally he found his voice, ABSOLUTELY SIR.

Lata huffed in disbelief.

LIARS.. ALL LIARS... she mumbled.

Suddenly Shyam Chowdhury barked to his men, Run him for Centre not the State

... and Tara, you are shifting base.

And with that the Minister stormed out leaving everyone surprised.
