As soon as it came, the pain was gone. Even still, being blotted out of existence was far from pleasing. Yet even though the pain was gone, he couldn't help but leak out a groan.
"Uh... Ahhh..."
Even forming noises was a struggle. His head felt empty, in addition to his stomach. Though one of those aches was quickly alleviated.
"Where... where am I? Hello? Is anyone there?"
(No response. How fantastic.)
He felt uncomfortable. Not in pain, but something felt out of place; a faint feeling of something... not belonging on his skin. Though even as he thought of it, he seemed to adjust.
Looking around, naught but darkness can be seen. However, as soon as soon as he pulled himself up, the 'scenery' quickly changed.
A soft light seemed to emanate somewhere above; though he couldn't see where exactly it was from. With this light, a clear pool of water could be seen just a few steps in front of him.
(Great, at least I can see if anythings gone wrong with me...)
Not bothering with anything else, and ignoring his feeling of unease, he quickly walks forward to gaze within the pool... then freezes.
What he sees within is no longer the human form he was familiar with.
I'm tired of the same old human protagonist, and I'm tired of systems, no matter how much I've enjoyed novels I've read with them previously. So here you go, and I hope my first piece of writing is enjoyable to someone at least.
