Awake

Minutes after hearing nothing from Alexander's side, Qian Ling made her way out of the other end of the route. Before leaving, she whispered to Alexander. "Don't worry, I won't let her know. I'll make sure her smile continues. It's time for you to rest."

Meanwhile, at the hospital, Ariana laid unconscious in bed. After multiple body examinations were completed, results came out fine. She only needed to rest properly and intake vitamins for her pregnancy.

At the same time, Susu was in the bed next to Ariana's bed. Chen Mu had already fed her one of the three pills. Even though she had swallowed the pill, nothing seemed to be different with her condition. She was still lying in bed, looking as if even the end of the world would not affect her slumber mode.

Grasping her hands tightly, Chen Mu hid his head between his arms. Ever since the day she fainted, she never opened her eyes again. Each second that passes seemed like an eternity to him. There were many "what-if" situations taking place in his mind, making it difficult for him to take a proper rest.

Whenever he closed his eyes, he could only see her smiling and hear her calling out to him. Many times, he woke up feeling extremely happy. Then, he would see her resting right there. His heart would shatter and be forced to glue back to one piece again.

Lin Que and Lily accompanied Grandpa Xia to the cafeteria as he could not stand the pressure. His heart was already not good at his age. Reluctantly leaving his granddaughter, Grandpa Xia reminded everyone to inform him when she awakens.

After everyone left with only Chen Nan by Ariana's side, Chen Mu started breaking down. "Susu, it's already been many days since I've slept. Every time I closed my eyes; I could only see you. These dreams only make me more and more scared. I don't know when you would leave me. I won't know if I would get the chance to tell you what I haven't said yet."

"So, please. Please wake up soon. Please don't sleep anymore. Please absorb the pill and let it take effect. I beg you. Don't give up." His hot tears flowed down as sniffles followed. Chen Nan didn't know how to comfort him as he was also waiting for his wife to open her eyes. The guys didn't know how long they've been staring at their girl.

When morning came, Chen Mu had fallen asleep while holding her hand. Susu's body began sweating profusely, causing her patient uniform to stick to her body. Chen Mu woke up when he felt the wetness of her palms. He noticed the change in her temperature and realized she was drenched in her own sweat!

Using a thermometer, he took her temperature and announced with joyous excitement. "Her temperature is back to normal! It's back to normal! Susu. Susu! Can you hear me?" His voice raised in pitch as he noticed her eyes having movements under her eyelids. He waited and called out to her. Finally, the pair of beautiful eyes opened and met his worried ones.

"She's awake! She's awake!!" Chen Mu kissed her forehead and hugged her close as tears flowed down his cheeks. With his head buried in her shoulders, she felt warm liquids spreading on her shoulder. She whispered, "I worried you. I'm okay now."

His gentle hands tightened around her back and instantly brought her even closer. "You really scared me."

"You've scared all of us!" Lily ran out of breath as she reached Susu's bedside. Chen Nan was the first to send the group a message about her awakening. Hopping to the bed side across from where Chen Mu sat, Lily held her hand tightly while holding back her tears.

She scolded in a rasped voice. "Yin Susu! If you dare do this again, I'll sell your Chen Mu to the brothel. I'll have you watch girls service him and order him for rounds of alcohol! I'll set him up on blind dates..I'll.. I'll.." Her words came to a stop as tears naughtily ran down her cheeks.

Wiping away tear stains on her cheeks, she looked up at the ceiling. At the same time, Susu gave her a light squeeze and looked at her with misty eyes. The room was quickly filled by everyone else who read the message from the group chat.

With Lily and Zi Yan's help, Susu got her body cleaned and changed into a new patient uniform. After that, she went through consecutive examinations to diagnose her body's condition. Surprisingly, the cancerous cells had progressively reduced by a third and seemed to be lowering in counts. The drug in the system was also under control.

Facing the good news, everyone felt relieved and wanted to hold a party for her miraculous recovery. Ariana also woke up after a long nap and was glad to see Susu awake again. After everyone settled down, they started filling in about the events that occurred after Susu collapsed into a coma. Susu felt extremely guilty and somehow blamed herself for causing such inconvenience.

"Where is Qian Ling now? What about Alexander?" Susu asked and looked at each of their faces for someone to give her a straightforward answer.

Chen Nan sighed, "Qian Ling said she would come to Lin Hospital after you had taken the third pill or maybe before the third pill. She didn't follow us because she thinks she and Alexander would be a burden. So, we lost contact after we had separated."

Chen Mu also frowned upon hearing such news. He then reminded Chen Nan and Ariana to not go back there because their faces were recognized already. If they risked once more, they might not be as fortunate as this time. The couple also nodded in response.

"What can we do now?" Susu asked.

"Nothing but wait for Qian Ling to come find us." Grandpa Xia sighed.

Months had passed since then and Susu remained at the hospital. Everyone took turns accompanying her to keep her entertained. As much as she hated this, she didn't speak a word of complaint. As soon as they knew it, Ariana's due date was around the corner.
