That was the last thing I cared about as we quickly got into the carriage.
From where I sat, I could see the rest of my family breathe a sigh of relief that we made it, while I wondered why my body would suddenly decide to sleep for two days and even bring my mana points back to their former size.
"Does sleeping increase my mana points?" I thought to myself curious to make more research about whether or not it was true only for me to hear Horan's annoying voice in my ears as he came to sit directly beside me.
"I was sure you weren't going to make it when I heard the news that you suddenly fell into some strange sleep-induced mode," Horan said with an amused expression on his face as his eyes scanned my body with an interested gaze.
"Well…I'm not sorry to disappoint," I replied, leaning my back fully against the side of the carriage, completely ignoring him.
I even went ahead to close my eyes just to ensure that I no longer had to speak to him.
A few minutes later, the carriage began moving.
It was to be a long journey, and because I just woke up from a two days sleep coma, I was sure that I would have to stay awake through it all only to feel myself fall drift into sleep about thirty minutes into the journey, even though there was no way I could be sure about the time.
The next time I opened my eyes, I practically jerked up as someone vigorously tapped me awake.
"Wha…" I asked, rubbing my eyes in a slightly sleep-induced fashion when the next thing I knew, my hands were grabbed and I was being jerked out of the carriage.
"Caen…" my name was called and by then my eyes were fully open to see the vastly anxious expressions on the faces of the people around me.
I looked around and noticed that it was only one carriage that was present there and the second one seemed to be missing.
"What's going…" I opened my mouth to ask in a loud voice only to be interrupted by the village chief's loud and booming voice.
"We can't all move together so we're splitting up into two teams. The city is no longer that far. If we walk quickly we'll all get there by nightfall…" He yelled and by then, I had looked for my family and even went ahead to move towards them.
"Caen…" Moey sighed in relief, with a largely anxious expression on her face as she pointed to the blue tentacles wrapped around the huge tires of the brand-new carriage.
"We were attacked by a huge beast but the Village chief managed to send it back to the forest but we don't know how long it would take before it attacks again…"
She explained and I nodded my head in understanding, surprised to see a slight fear in Kern's eyes, one that made me wonder how big the monster that attacked us truly was.
"It's big… Caen," Nami suddenly spoke up, looking at me with a terrified expression on her face.
From my calm state, I could understand why she felt a need to warn me all over again about how dangerous the beast was, especially since it was obvious that I hadn't seen it.
I began wondering how bad it must be for my family to be shaking in such a way when the voice of the Village chief again rang out in the air.
"I, Horan, Carina Jai her mother, Clara, and Ben would come with me, while the rest of you would go together," he said and just as I and Kern were about to open our mouths to protest, I watched the Chief begin to speak in a slightly more annoyed tone,
"You guys are four. Would you prefer for me to split your family?" He asked and although his tone made it seem like he actually cared about our wellbeing, it was obvious to us that he didn't.
He and his son were both final-stage cultivators which meant that they had a higher chance of surviving in the forest, compared to the fact that the four of us only had me and Nami.
"I could go with you guys…" Ben spoke up with a clear look of concern on his face but even before he was done speaking, Kern already shook his head.
"What could we possibly do if something happened to Ben because we allowed him to come with us," I thought, instantly understanding why Kern was right in disagreeing with his suggestion.
"We should leave quickly…" Horan suddenly spoke up, and the moment my gaze landed on him, I couldn't help but fiercely glare at him only to watch him smirk and glare right back.
In a couple of minutes, they were done packing, and all four of us watched as they walked away with only Clara and Ben looking back at us with a vague look of concern on their face.
"We should leave…" I finally spoke up after a couple of minutes of standing there even after they had all left.
"We need to walk as fast as possible. The faster we get to the city, the safer we would be…" I continued to say, right before I waited for Ker and Moey to begin moving forward and lead the way since I had no idea where we were not to mention where we were going.
Kern and Money nodded, and I even watched them exchange a knowing look before they bane walking forward.
Amongst all of us, I carried a small bag that contained everything Nami and I felt we would need for a day with the intention of buying whatever else we needed in the city.
Kern too only carried one bag and it contained all the things he and Moey would most likely need on the journey and on their way back, but I was pretty sure it didn't include food.
The forest path to the city that we diverted to felt considerably safe, and by chance, we had great luck and were yet to come across a single beast or monster.
