TOO MUCH DISASTER ONE NIGHT

Amber directed her gaze to Lily. She was starting to rethink her decision after what Bella said.

Am I doing the right thing by helping Lily? She thought.

"Thank you for attempting to help me. I will never forget your kind gesture." Lily beamed.

"Stop talking, let’s go to the border," Amber said and they both walked over to her car, Amber got into the car, and Lily sat on the other side of the car.

Amber shoved her key into the car and turned it when she noticed Lily was bracing her knee with her mouth slightly open. She spotted a small bruise on her knee.

"Sorry for what my sister-in-law did to you." Amber apologized.

"You don’t need to apologize, I deserved it, because I just showed out of no where," Lily replied and spotted a man wearing a black hat in the side mirror, she narrowed her eyes at the man and turned around to look at the place she saw him but he was gone. She had a feeling Eric was stalking her.

"Go quickly!" She yelled at Amber, who stepped on the gas and drove off at great speed. Lily was trying Mason’s number as Amber drove, but he didn’t want to pick up the call.

Mason drove his car into a gas station and rested in his car, waiting for his car to get filled up. The sound of his ringing tone was getting on his nerves, and the person that was calling him was making him angrier.

"How many hours are you going to take to fill a gas tank?" He said rudely to the gas employee, who was filling up his tank.

"Don’t worry, Mister, it’s just going to take a few minutes." he assured. Mason glanced at his wristwatch; it was already late and he was still in Amber’s city. Everything about the city reminded him of her; the air, the houses, and the street lights. He put his head down, running his hand through his hair.

"Maybe I shouldn’t have said that! Maybe I shouldn’t have told her she was better off with Xavier," he said in a frustrated tone.

"Why did I even say that? What is wrong with me?" He said with a hushed tone and started hitting himself on the face.

The man that was filling up his tank finished filling it up and stared at him in the car with a confused expression on his face.

"I have finished filling up your tank. Now you need to pay up." he said to Mason, who was still lamenting in the car with his head down. He was crying, with his tears falling on his jeans. The man moved closer to him and tapped him on the shoulder. Mason lifted his head to look at him. He handed Mason a tissue.

"Thank you." Mason said and took it from him. He was a little embarrassed.

"I uh, finished filling up your tank," the man said.

"Oh, why didn’t you say so?" Mason asked, wiping the tears off his face as he shoved his hand into his pocket and took out his wallet. He drilled out a few dollars and handed them to the man.

"Keep the change," he said to the man who was staring at the money. He ignited his engine, reversing his car as he looked behind him.

"Don’t worry, you can go; the coast is clear," the man said to him. Mason drove out of the gas station and turned around to continue his journey. The best thing he wanted to do for himself was to stay away from Amber and move on with his life, and the first step was to leave her city.

"I am not going to cry over her anymore. We are done. She doesn’t need me and I don’t need her." He said he was trying to console himself, but he was only making things worse because he couldn’t stop thinking about her. His phone was still ringing on the seat of his car.

"Ugh! Can’t she just leave me alone!" He groaned and grabbed his phone with his left hand and threw it out of the car, driving off.

*******

"Don’t you think you are driving above the limits?" Lily asked, looking at the speedometer on Amber’s car.

"We can drive above the limit as long as it’s an emergency," she replied, with her eyes glued to the road, making sure she didn’t hit anyone along the way.

"This city is so cool, but please be careful, I have a bad feeling about this." Lily said. Amber stole a glance at her.

"Don’t worry, I will slow down a little." Amber said, and her eyes lit up as she spotted the car Mason was driving when she last saw him. She blinked her eyes. She thought it was a dream, because Lily said he had left a long time ago.

"I…I think that car ahead of us is Mason’s car." Amber said. Lily looked at the car with her mouth slightly open.

"Yes, that’s his car. I am certain he just got it." Lily said, and a shallow smile curved across her face. She stuck her head out the window.

"Mason, it’s me, Lily. Slow down your car!!" She yelled. Mason heard her voice, but he thought he was imagining things.

"What are you doing? Please sit down; that’s very dangerous." Amber said, slowing down her car because Mason wasn’t driving at full speed and Lily was making her worried.

"Mason! Please slow down! Amber is here with me!" she yelled. Mason creased his brow as he spotted a car behind him. He couldn’t see who was in the car because the headlights were blinding. But he was sure he heard Lily’s voice.

Another car drove past them, and he saw the color of the car and his heart skipped a beat. It was Amber’s car. He stepped on the gas and started driving off at a great speed.

Amber also stepped on the gas chasing after him, he was trying to avoid her but he didn’t know he had initiated a car race that Amber didn’t want to lose.
