Chapter 17

Ajax was trying his best to not lose control over the power he was receiving. A golden light was emitting from his wings and they were slowly reviving. Xander was also not exhausted from giving his soul power to Ajax. Everything was going well. But the sudden increase in soul power in Ajax's body made the sleeping spirit animal - Zane awake. Due to a long time, there was no connection between Zane and Ajax, so Zane had temporarily slept due to no activity. But the increasing power awakened him.

"Ajax, did you call me? Master!! Did you called me,master. " Said Zane through the mind link.

"ZANE!! Is that you? " Asked Ajax through mind link shocked that Zane connected to him after a such long time.

"Master, you did not call me. Are you still angry with me? " Asked Zane.

"No, I am not. Just I was ashamed of my act and thought you would not listen to me, or be upset with me. But why did you connect me now? Are you okay? " Asked Ajax worried that after sleeping for such long he is in danger.

"No, I am okay. I thought that you called me, are you all right master? " Inquired Zane.

"What is with you calling me master? You never called me that. And I am alright. " Said Ajax.

"I thought you are angry and won't like me calling you Ajax again like before," said

Zane.

"Don't you ever call me master? We are like brothers. But you suddenly waking up... I don't get it... But now it happened it is very good. We are on good terms now, right? " Asked Ajax hesitating a little.

"Yes, master... I mean Ajax. And I feel power increasing within me. It feels good. Powerful yet calming" Said Zane.

"Yeah.. I am taking a little power from.... Power!! Oh no Xander!!" Shouted Ajax and opening his eyes and breaking the link with Zane leaving Zane confused. Xander was still transferring powers but he was unconscious. His lips were dry like a desert and his hands had become cold when Ajax touched him. Ajax shook him to wake him up but nothing happened. His body kept transferring soul power like it was sucked by Ajax. Ajax tried to reverse the transfer but nothing was working. Xander was becoming paler and paler his condition was deteriorating.

"What to do? What should I do? " Asked Ajax to himself thinking of a way to reverse the soul transfer.

"Ajax, quick let me help. " Said Zane through the mind link.

"You can save my brother! You know the way" Asked Ajax.

"Yes, I know now allow me to get out. Because of your command, I am trapped by chains, quick command me" Said, Zane.

"I didn't know that you will be tied up. Please forgive me. And use Zane, come out" Said Ajax, and within an instant, Zane came out. He looked bigger than what Ajax saw a few months before and he was amazed by it.

Zane quickly closed his eyes and on his forehead appeared a small star and he started giving the energy back to Xander. Xander's complexion and health started to get better as more energy was transferred. After some time Xander opened his eyes and upon seeing Ajax gave a weak smile.

"Did we succeed? " Asked Xander in a low voice. Anyone can understand from his voice that he is too tired and weak.

"You nearly died and 'did we succeed' is the first question you asked!!" Said Ajax surprised.

"I don't take such risks for anyone. You are my only family. Can't bear to lose you, little kitten" Said Xander with a genuine smile.

"Don't you dare to force me to do such things in the future? You better don't! " Said Ajax while keeping his hands on his waist.

"Quick, show me your wings," Said Xander still concerned.

Ajax nodded and closed his eyes and his pure white wings spread beautifully in the setting sun. Ajax had ruby eyes and hair streaks of white color when his second soul power activated. Xander was surprised by the width of the wings and relaxed that Ajax will be okay now.

"See, they are beautiful, right? " Asked Ajax.

"Hmmm... Let me see properly. Turn around" Said Xander who was still sitting on the ground. Zane had already vanished before Xander gained consciousness.

"Not bad... Now our little kitten have wings " Said Xander feeling proud that Ajax is growing stronger day by day.

"Let's go, it's getting dark now. As everything is okay, let's have a small party. I will make delicacies for you. " Said Xander while getting up from the ground and dusting his black pants.

"Thank you brother," Said Ajax while getting excited thinking about food.

Both were going to go from there when Ajax stopped Xander.

"What? Anything wrong? " Asked Xander worrying that anything happened to Ajax.

"Brother, you have Eddie as your pet as well as a spirit animal. I don't even have a pet. Can I keep this kitten? " Said Ajax showing a white kitten with blue eyes to Xander who purred excitedly.

"Huh!! Where did you find it? Is it a cat? Maybe a spirit animal who wandered off from its way. If he has a family, we will be in danger. Tell me where did you find it? " Asked Xander looking for any animal approaching them.

"No, it is just a normal kitten. I found it when you were unconscious. It was abandoned by its family I think, so I found it and he was very hungry. So I fed him and now it follows me everywhere I go. So please let me keep it" Pleaded Ajax showing his puppy eyes.

"Okay, I am tired. Let's go take him with us. " Said Xander rubbing his forehead.

Both the boys get in their car and drove towards their home. Xander told that he would make food but as soon as he reached his home he fainted while going towards the kitchen while being persistent to make food. Ajax took him to the bedroom and went to make soup for his brother. While he was in the kitchen the kitten approached him.

"Yahhh don't come here. If Xander sees your fur that sheds , he will be very angry at you. " Said Ajax.

"I am hungry!! And shedding my fur is natural, I don't do it purposely." Said the kitten through the mind link.

"Wait a minute Zane, the milk is almost ready," Said Ajax while boiling the milk.

"Milk!! You are providing a tiger milk! Yahh I just took a kitten form, I am not really a kitten. Give me meat!! " Growled Zane.

"Don't worry, I was just teasing you. Give me a minute. Be patient, okay? " Said Ajax while laughing while patting Zane's head.

"But Ajax thank you for allowing me to stay outside in the form of a kitten. I don't like to stay in the mind space. " Said Zane while moving his tail left and right.

"Okay, okay stop being thankful. I still feel miserable for locking you up in the mind space up till so long. And you still did not hold a grudge against me. I feel bad " Said Ajax while lost in his thoughts of how he treated Zane back then.

"Don't feel sorry. It was the fault of the situation in which we were. I was never angry with you. You are my master. You can command me anything I will obey. " Said Zane while happily eating the meat which Ajax provided him.

Eddie was a little hesitant to approach Zane. But when Zane approached him, he played with him and both enjoyed each other's company very much. After Ajax prepared the soup he went upstairs and saw Xander was awake. He gave him the soup. Xander apologized to Ajax for not preparing the food but Ajax simply said that he can give him the treat any time later. With that both, the boys slept peacefully after the heated situation.

In the inn,

"Amelia, get up!! We are late for practice." Shouted Ember while shaking Amelia.

"Don't shout. You will call all the people living nearby here. I will get up...just..Five more minutes. " Said Amelia and then again closed her eyes.

"This won't do. What if the competition is one year later , we can't slack off. " Said Ember to herself and then took water from a glass and threw it on Amelia's face. Amelia woke up gasping and shocked. She looked at Ember with anger in her eyes ready to burst on her. But before she could say anything a towel was thrown on her face and Ember was standing there with a toothbrush and signaling Amelia to get ready. Amelia denied it and snarled.

"If you get ready within fifteen minutes we might take a visit again to the Fransisco bakery" Said Ember.

"Get ready in thirty minutes and we go to that bakery" Amelia tried to negotiate.

"Ten minutes! " Said Ember.

"Okay, okay I am going. " Siad Amelia and walked lazily towards the bathroom.

"Nine minutes," Said Ember.

"I am going!! " Shouted Amelia and sprinted towards the bathroom. Ember chuckled seeing her childish actions.

After Amelia got ready they paid a visit to Fransico bakery. They both still had a veil on their faces with Amelia wearing a purple dress up to her thighs and long socks and high heels, while Ember had a blue dress.

"Good morning, my ladies. Here is your menu " Said Xander with a white plain shirt and black pants cheerfully while handing them a round donut-shaped menu.

"Two chocolate donuts and one blueberry pie and two strawberry shakes. " Said, Amelia.

"Your order will be ready in five minutes," said Xander who was going to go to the kitchen when Amelia stopped him.

" Who designed this building? I would like to meet the architect " Said Amelia.

"The design idea was mine as I know a little bit of architecture but it was made by my friend - Liam Smith. " Said Xander politely.

"It's great meeting you. We are here for expanding our business. So we asked because we both liked this bakery's design. " Said Ember.

" You flattered me. Thank you. "Siad Xander while giving a small smile.

" Order is ready," said Ajax coming from the kitchen with white inner shirt, dark blue jacket on with dark blue pants with yellow apron on his jacket and placed the trays on the table.

" Who is he? Is he the architect friend you talked about? "Asked Amelia while smiling.

" No, he is my brother. His name is Ajax. "Said, Xander.

"Please enjoy, ladies. " Said Ajax and pulled Xander into a corner. Amelia was confused by his behavior but the dishes in front of her caught her attention more. So she ignored them. Ember was not affected by the talking as she was fully focusing on what to do after eating, what to practice, and what to improve.

"Ajax, we have customers here, don't behave like this" Said Xander in a low voice.

" I don't care about anyone. Now tell me where did you get that book from which we found the solution to my soul problem? And where did you vanish the night ?" asked Ajax in a low yet angry voice.

"Where did I vanish? What are you talking about? I don't understand" Said Xander dodging his eyes away from Ajax and tapping his thigh with his fist quickly.

"Hmm.... So you are not going to tell me the truth. Wait till these girls go. I will make you spill the beans in my way" Warned Ajax and was going back to the kitchen when Amelia called him.

"The food was delicious. But I think there is bitterness" Said Amelia.

Ajax was shocked and confused. He baked the cake and pie perfectly. He did not make any mistake. How can the food be bitter?

"How can it be, can you tell me which one was bitter? If you allow I will make a new one for you" Said Ajax politely.

"No, I said the food is delicious. The bitterness is in you and your brother. I was not purposely listening to your conversation. You were loud enough for me to hear. " Said Amelia while looking at Ajax and studying his features. Long black dense hair covering his forehead, dark black eyes , straight nose with beautiful thin lips.

Normally Ajax was calm and quiet, but that night when he came to know about his defective soul power, Xander went out and when returned he was not looking in good shape. Also, the book which his brother bought is not found in any library. There were only three libraries in Celadon City and Ajax went to each and asked for that book named - "Secrets of Soul Power". But there was no such library, whereas Xander had told him that he brought it from a library which came out to be a lie. So Ajax was furious about what actually happened and from where he got the book and the anger came out on Amelia rather than Xander.

" Whatever I do with my brother is none of your concern. So pay the bill and leave" said Ajax arrogantly. Amelia was surprised, Ember fumed in anger and Xander was shocked. Eddie and Zane looked at both the boys and girls and moved outside the house behind the backyard as they thought that there will be a fight........
