"Yeah, it didn't happen during the fight, but the cause was actually the fight. I got poisoned in the middle of the fight, so I decided to cut it off. It was either my arm or my life." he said and saw Kira nod in response.
While Kira was the one responsible for his fake death, he had no hand on the poisoning. He had been trying to help a lot of people in the battlefield, so missing a few people was not surprising.
It was just Raichi's bad luck to be the one who got poisoned and left his hand lying somewhere on the ground.
While Kira was lost in this thoughts, Raichi glanced at his daughter and grinned, "Eiko awakened her sharingan yesterday."
Kira observed Raichi's proud face and nodded once again, "Congratulations, Sensei. I mean... good job Eiko."
"Well... it's thanks to your words that she awoke her eye. Though it was a mistake, it's a mistake that turned out to be a good one." Raichi said with his face full of smiles.
"That's a good thing then..." Kira replied as he glanced at Eiko and felt pain in his heart even though he was the one who had literally shown her the death of her father, which awakened her eyes.
As for the pain that came along with the passing of someone you loved, was someone Kira understood quiet well. But Raichi's smiling expression was the last nail in the coffin.
'I'm too soft for this world. Way too soft...'
A few seconds passed as Kira silently stared at Eiko before the expression on his face turned sharp.
He pointed at Riachi's missing arm and said, "Sensei, maybe this is a sign for you to go back home and rest. You shouldn't be fighting with a missing arm."
Hearing his words, Raichi shook his head, "That won't be possible. I'm a proud shinobi and the moment I became a genin was the time when my life belonged to Konoha and not me. You don't have to worry too much, I can fight with one hand too."
Saying this, he made a few single handed hand seals before shooting a ball of fire into the sky.
"See? You're just worrying too much."
Kira didn't say anything for a few seconds before nodding, "Okay, I'll go back to my tent then."
His voice carried no emotions this time and he turned around before walking to his tent.
Haruki kept her eyes on Kira's tent as she spoke, "Looks like he's upset."
"He must learn that this is the way of a ninja. If things go wrong, we die silently with no one to mourn for us or with our bodies lost, forgotten without getting the privilege for a funeral." he said as he placed his hand on Eiko's head.
Sometimes he wished that he wasn't born into a ninja family, but since it had already happened, he simply accepted his fate.
"Also, it's not like my death would be a loss." he muttered as he glanced at Eiko.
Inside the tent, Kira silently lied down on his bed and created an extremely small wood clone.
"Wake me up after six hours." he whispered and closed his eyes. Normally, he'd use an alarm clock, but tonight, he had things he wanted to do while keeping everyone in the dark.
His emotions could fuck themselves for now, as he had more important things to do. If he wanted to survive, then character points were the first priority. His morals and everything else would have to take a backseat.
As he slept, his chakra reserves began to refill and by the time he woke up, more than half of his reserves had recovered.
'It's time.' he thought as he dispersed his wood clone technique, making the three clones that were far away, lose all their chakra. All three of them had merged themselves into tree trunks, so Kira had no worries about people finding wooden statues.
Once Kira's chakra came back, he created nineteen wood clones before recalling 18 of them back into his body. Just like how they grew out of the wooden shell that was on his body, they went back the same way.
They merged into the wooden skin and Kira simply got his chakra back. As the wooden shell slowly sunk into his skin, he looked at his clone and nodded before teleporting away.
There was no need to talk as his clones would already know about his plans, but sometimes, due to habit, he still talked to them.
He now had more than 95% of his total chakra reserves. He knew that he would need to use every thing he had if he wanted to accomplish his goals tonight.
The moment he teleported, his surroundings changed and the first thing he saw was the sleeping face of Sasori. He was currently in the air, about to fall to the ground. Without wasting any time, he sent chakra to his palms and smacked the living hell out of Sasori multiple times.
In just a moment, more than 20 palm strikes landed on Sasori's body, waking him up but just when he tried to jump away to safety from his unknown attacker, he realised that his body wasn't moving at all.
He was a fast thinker and his adaptive capabilities were top notch. Since he couldn't move, he tried to look at his attacker's face but the only thing he saw was a mask.
"Listen, I didn't come here to kill you. I know that you're a puppetry master and that you want to build an army of well made puppets. So, I have an offer for you. Blink twice if you want to hear it and blink thrice if you're not interested." Kira whispered, his voice feminine.
Sasori silently blinked twice, to which Kira smiled behind his wooden mask.
